  1. We have booked a penthouse suite for the first time and are told that we can order in from any specialty restaurant. How does that work exactly? Can it be any specialty restaurant on any night of the cruise? I would love to hear your experiences and photos if anyone has some. Thanks in advance!

  2. Our last cruise on Oceania was to the med in May. We saw a few kids, mostly babies in strollers on our trip. We rarely saw any kids at all. The ship is very relaxed and quiet, just the way we like it. We also don't see chair hogs around the pool. Very civilized atmosphere. Although, it can sometimes get rowdy in the Martini Bar at 5pm during Trivia. Ha ha. We are in our 50's and our children are grown so this suits us perfectly. We find Oceania to be the perfect fit for us. Hope this helps.

In Santo Tomas there are a couple of cute restaurants a few blocks away, around the navy base.   You go past the craft market, out the gate, straight then right then right then left.  At one you dine out over the bay.  I bought two nice handmade belts in the craft market.  In fact, yes, the ship is docked at a busy container port.

Thanks for the wonderful photos. Do you know if there are cabs readily available?

  4. We have been to Florence several times. Hands down I would go there again. It is my favorite big city. Since the Accademia is closed,  I would go to the Duomo and walk around that area. In fact, my relative Pope Cossa Baldessarre, John XXIII (1410–1415) is buried there. There are several nice places to eat as well. If you are a carnivore, and can tolerate steak that early, you must try the Florentine steak. You won't be disappointed.

We have been to Pisa twice and I would skip that unless you really need to see it.

Our most recent time there we took an Oceana shore excursion, "Hills of Lucca & Wine Tasting". It was a surprisingly nice tour. The wine tasting was a real highlight. We sat out in the countryside with several bottles to taste and lovely snacks. Just keep in mind that the shops in Lucca do not open till 10am. We booked the early trip and a lot was closed.

    Hope this helps!

This goes for  Hawaiian  to HNL and Tahiti Nui  LAX.  about 2445.        Not sure of United to SFO

Air France LAX goes at  0800 and is a much better non red  eye choice        You can get business class for the 8 hour flight for around $1900 pp    O, one time offered me  upgrade to Business on Tahiti Nui for $800 pp   You might ask  Even though it is a charter the plane still has Business seats   UAL does too.   Hawaiian  business is a joke on you...  THats my experience

Air france and Tahiti Nui  are code share with DL AA, QA,NZ    it is a small airport,  open air waiting area no AC  for coach.

    Good luck

    Great info.

Terry - I would love to hear your experience with O air once you return. Thanks in advance!

  6. Thanks for responding euro cruiser. I guess that I am not sure where we are dropping hook. It says Amalfi/Positano. I will ask this question on the Oceania board. Thanks for your help!

  7. We are taking an Oceania cruise and Positano is a tender port. I was wondering if there will be taxi/water taxis to get us to Positano. We would like to bypass a tour and do it own our own. Is this possible? Thanks!
