  1. Hi! This is my first ever cruise. We are supposed to go on the Majestic that leaves Port Canaveral this up coming Monday Oct 2. We have a toddler with us. Our goals were to snorkel and dive this trip so water clarity is important to us. My dad cruises a lot and on this same boat some years ago was rerouted and stuck on that boat for days during a storm. He said they were told to stay in their rooms and the boat rocked a lot, the pools emptied out on the decks and people were seasick everywhere. He loves cruising and encouraged me to finally go on one. We paid extra for the protection plan from Royal Caribbean, & I may be able to get my doctor to sign a note since I did just get diagnosed with a disease this week and started treatment. So that could cover our money coming back to us. I did really want to go back to Nassau. We booked our own excursion that has a money back guarantee with 24 hours cancellation notice. How bad is it when you've gone out like this? Also, have any of y'all canceled successfully before using medical reasons? Thanks!

FYI... Oct 2 is SUNDAY...not Monday. I would hate for you to miss your cruise.

  2. Glad we elect not to Cruise during hurricane season.

The official hurricane season for the Atlantic Basin (the Atlantic Ocean, the Caribbean Sea, and the Gulf of Mexico) is from 1 June to 30 November. As seen in the graph above, the peak of the season is from mid-August to late October. However, deadly hurricanes can occur anytime in the hurricane season.

  3. I'm scheduled to board Allure on Sunday. My gut tells me that instead of doing Western Caribbean, we will be headed to St. Thomas and St. Maarten. It really doesn't matter to me though, as long as I am on a cruise, I am happy. I am sad to think that we might miss Labadee though. But as long as we are safe that's all that matters.

Me too! I cant wait. I dont care where we go as long as its not Bahamas.

  4. I am thinking about going to Chankanaab next month but I am trying to find out what is included in the basic entrance fee. Thanks

trying to find out the same thing... website doesnt show pricing except for entrnce fee

  5. In Belize, the River Wallace & Altun Ha excursion is sooooo worth it. This year we are doing cave tubing. it looks like it is going to be a blast too.

For Roatan, last time we did a Victor Bodden tour where we had a driver for the day and he took us wherever we wanted to go. Would do that again in a heartbeat.

Been to Cozumel way too much so now that is our beach day excursion at a little beach club that the cruise ships dont send excursions to and they dont advertise way too much. Its a nice quiet all inclusive day, Our kids love that beach club too.

What beach club do you goto in Cozumel?

  6. Thanks brillo. I found out later that I could have walked a bit further down for a "non-rocky experience". I'll know better next time. Yeah, the med staff was absolutely wonderful. Are you serious about being a cruise ship nurse? Wow...how cool is that.

    was the medical bill high?

  7. Did you buy your passes for the British Colonial Hilton directly through the hotel or did you go to a specific website? I see a pass online for them for $60 per person on a site called Island Marketing and I found another site called Paradise Island selling them for $65.

If you go to Melia would you have to take a taxi or is there a less expensive way of getting there? Also did you buy this pass through the hotel?

We are going in 2 weeks and any info would be greatly appreciated.

You can take the #10 Jitney bus for $1.25 each person each way. Ive done the melia, great beach, pools are good. lobby is amazing!

Ive also done junkanoo... so i am trying to decide this time where togo.

  8. So we are traveling with a large group and wanted to book an excursion where we would all go. Looking at the Sands Brewery, downtown and shopping tour through Carnival. We have a 16 year old in our group and just want to make sure she can go, just not drink obviously.

All the website says is "must be 21 to drink" so I assume it's fine. but wanted to see if anyone knew from experience.

    thank you in advance!:)

everything is within walking distance in Nassau, why wouldnt you just do it on your own without paying the expensive cruise ship fees to do the same for you!?

look around on here for what you are looking to do.

  9. That sounds good! Does the public beach have a name that we could tell a cab to take us to? Do you know if it gets busy really quick?

Junkanoo beach is free... there are vendors with food, drinks, and of course items to sell. Thats where we will be again! plus you can still see the ships. Its so close.. no need for Jitney bus or expensive taxi

  10. We just got back from Nassau and booked the Melia day pass for 4 before we left from bookatourCaribbean.com for 30 each and had no problems using it at the site. We had 5 ships total in port the day we were there so booking ahead of time and heading right to the taxi line is recommended.

I did the melia, no problems. paid there upon arrival. nice pool & beach!

  11. Thanks! I understand that the seas cannot be predicted. I cruised the Caribbean and really felt nothing. Just trying to find out why everyone posts how "Rough" the seas always are from NY to Bahamas. There must be a considerable difference to other sailings. Like a point to where the seas "calm"

  12. Just don't count on the "free shuttle up to the pier". Depending on the day of the week they have different shuttle routes and schedules...and even under the best of circumstances you'll be dropped off close to the pier but not actually at the pier. I'd wager that the majority of passengers going to the cruise terminal either walk (about a half mile) or take a taxi.

The busses do run on the weekends. There are several busses. You just need to get on the right bus. otherwise you end up going out of your way :)

Have you used these busses before?

I see the pink and light blue line goes straight up to the terminal.
