We cruise in a week and booked with the Plus package.  I've decided to upgrade us to the Premium.  I've already booked 2 specialty dining.  Any idea if they'll refund the $ paid since it's before the cruise?

If you don’t mind, please come back and let us know how this went. We cruise in 3 weeks and in the same situation.

  2. Help me out here...it may be obvious, but I OBVIOUSLY am missing something! Let's say I and my husband have a Plus or Premier package and we go to Alfredos for dinner.  One pizza is MORE than enough for us - do we each have to order appetizer, main, dessert or can we share (pizza especially)?

Additionally, at Vine's - can we share a charcuterie board and only one person be charged for

included casual dining or do we each have to order and be charged?

The Juice Bar was one of my favorite parts of our cruise last Month on the Regal.

It was located in the middle of the buffet with the specialty coffees and pastries.

Got pretty addicted to them, The Nutter and the Tropical Twist were my favorites.

Thanks for location on Regal - will be there in April.  Do you know the hours the Juice Bar is available?

  4. By having Plus, I would get 2 visits to Alfredo's...potentially 2 pizzas to go per cruise - I assume my husband would also be entitled to 2 visits so that might be total of 4 pizzas to go during our cruise if we so choose???!!  Am I assuming correctly?

We sail in Feb and originally ordered medallions to be picked up at port. That put us Blue. We decided to have medallions to ship to us, now we’re Green. To do this you first have to cancel the existing medallion ship to port order, then place a new order for your medallions specifying the shipping to you. Put in your address and payment, order and $10 later you’re Green! (assuming you have all the other required info in place) Getting our medallions pre cruise is a ritual that we want to keep. 😀

We’re going to be traveling the month prior to sailing - that’s why we’re picking them up at the port. Guess we’ll stay blue.

  6. My husband and I have been in the "Green Lane" for a month (which I am pretty sure simply means all of my information has been entered for our cruise) - today we're in "Blue Lane." When I check our information, it is al entered and correct. I've got time before our cruise (October) for it to fall back into place, but it just does make me anxious when things like this come up.  I was only able to get private table reservations in one of the three dining rooms and with the help of PacnGoNow was able to figure it out.. Some days just frustrating when it doesn't really have to be.  Mini-vent over...have a nice day everyone!

Did you try to book one day at a time on the App?

If that doesn’t work, go onto the website, and click on the “Try

our website version of the App.”

(Right below the Google App bar.)

See if that opens any other MDR.

Usually, 2 out of 3 are open.  Unless, one is booked already, check closer to date.

I am so not good at this! I have no idea where "Try our website version of the App" is.  Went to website but could not see anything.

  8. I wrote about this previously, but thought I would give it some time to see if it would change on my app.  Unfortunately, I still have the option to reserve dining for a table for two in only one dining room (Palm) on the Caribbean Princess.  My cruises aren't until October/November.  Wondering if anyone else has this problem or if they are able to get reservations for two in either of the other dining rooms.  Thanks.

did you have any specialty dining credit(s) or just went ahead and put it on a credit card? We're hoping to use OBC, but also hoping we don't get shut out like we did on the CB over Thanksgiving, except for Sabatini's the first night..

Unfortunately, no credits this time. Used CC.  They do fill up - good luck to you.  Get onboard and get your reservation ASAP!

we've got 3 nights booked in Island around Halloween short cruise - nothing a couple of other nights so far - hoping we can book some specialty dining on board with OBC

This, and the following (11/5), are the cruises I am working on. Only able to reserve Palm for a reservation for 2. No problem booking specialty dining on either segment.

  11. Making reservations for dining on upcoming cruise on CB and I can only reserve a table for 2 in the Palm Dining Room.  Never had a problem on previous ships to reserve a table for 2 in any dining room.  Has anyone reserved table for 2 on CB in Coral and/or Island Dining Rooms?  Would like a variety if possible.

Have heard these issues before and do have a concern as our first cruise on her is later this month. Booked it for the itinerary and will still enjoy the cruise even if the Island does not impress us.

When we resumed cruising after a time off, we booked the Panama Canal on the Island.  Loved the cruise and everything about it.  THEN, we went on more and more cruises on different Princess ships and realized what we missed by going on the Island.  I looked into part of the World Cruise but it's on the Island and I'll never sail on that ship again!

I've never done Iceland, but I've been on the Caribbean Princess three times with a fourth coming up next week, and I have always loved it.  I feel like the Crown Grill is always better than on the Royal Class ships.  It is a smaller ship but I don't feel crowded and I feel like they do crowd dispersal very well. It doesn't have Alfredo's but Slice is better than the Lido pizza on the Royal ships.  It's not a bells-and-whistles ship but we're low maintenance.  We only had one technical problem in those trips, and that was AC trouble a few nights on one sailing. We propped our balcony door at night and got a great sea breeze, didn't even miss the AC. But if we had complained I'm sure it would have been handled or compensated one way or another.

TLDR: I think the CB complaints are a bit overblown but everyone cruises differently and as different priorities.  If you love the intinerary I wouldn't let the ship deter you.

The Crown is one of my favorites - I love the smaller ships. Going on CB this fall and looking forward to it. We did go on Enchanted in Nov '21 on her very first sailing and totally loved it due to it being BRAND NEW and less than 900 passengers!

  14. Thanks for the replies.  Think I'll stick with Plus - certainly don't need extra desserts (or fitness classes for that matter!!) each day.  I like Southern Comfort manhattans so I believe I'm covered!  Thanks, again, for the information.

  15. Probably talked to death, but please indulge me...it's been a while since I've read about the packages.  A while ago, the Premium package differed mostly in the wine selection.  I'm more interested in the prices of the drinks...are their margaritas, martinis, manhattans, etc. still covered under the Plus or have the prices changed and now have to get the Premium package in order to get a good alcohol drink?  Thanks for your help!

Since we’re stopping in Canada on our October 9 cruise, we will need to get a COVID test.  We don’t have any places that do rapid antigen in person unless you pay a lot, so we’re going to a local lab to do a PCR test.they said the results usually come back by the end of the next day.  Medicare covers it.  We’ll do it 72 hours before, so that should give us time before we embark.  Has anyone here done a PCR test and had any issues getting the results in time for your cruise?

We're on same cruise - I don't have an answer for you, unfortunately, but I do have a question! May I ask where you will be getting your PCR test?  We'll be in CA a few days before the cruise and will also need to get a test somewhere in SF.  Thanks.

That is quite the elitist comment! "I want two separate dining rooms so the riff-raff can be kept in their place". LOL!

Nope - not the meaning at all.  I like casual dress....am not riff-raff and don't know why you would assume I meant casual dress as riff-raff. The comments are steered to the people who dress formal not liking to see casual dress on formal night in the MDR so if that's the case choose MDR#1 and I'll choose MDR#2.  Problem solved.

The cruise line does. That is why they make the request. Dressing for dinner creates an atmosphere. Dressing up for special occasions has been a thing since man first started putting on clothing.

This "who really cares" mantra I hear from people, is from people who think everything is all about them and there is no corporate responsibility.

Then sail on cruise lines that do not have formal nights or don't go to an MDR or Specialty restaurant on Formal Night. Go to the buffet or get room service.

This is here and now, it isn't 100 years ago or 100 years from now.

The U.S. Navy has "Dinner Dress" not "Mess Dress".

Dress codes are a choice.....  the choice of the restaurant, cruise line, church, etc, who sets it and then it is your choice to eat in that restaurant, take that cruise line or visit that church or not if you do not like their policies.

Again, NOT the point. Dress codes are the choice of the business. The patron's choice is  whether or not to patronize the business.

What hasn't changed is it is the company's choice to set standards.

As to "the corporate world", while in some companies the rank & file might be allowed to wear shorts, that isn't the norm at the executive or even managerial level.

How many billionaire's do you know? How often are you with them in corporate meetings?

He was only a billionaire, and yes he did hire us.

My bad - got lost counting the 0's.  Good thing I'm not in your line of business!

  19.  work in one of the last industries (investments & banking) where wearing a suit is still the daily norm. My friends who are lawyers only wear suits when they are in court or initial client meetings. (as an aside, ponder why lawyers wear suits in court). It is really downhill from there. I was in a meeting with a potential client a few years ago. He was in flip flops, shorts a t-shirt and at one point in the meeting was picking at his toes with his flip flops off. I'd have tossed him out of the meeting except he is worth $3,000,000,000 and change 🤣

I sure hope you landed this trillion$$ client.
