    Hi Greg

Are you guys still travelling on this cruise ..... Its getting closer

absolutely!  Sorry it's taken me so long to reply......  haven't been on Cruise Critic much, but certainly need to get caught up!

We have an apartment booked for 4 nights, arriving on 28Oct.  We have a fellow airline friend coming along for the land portion, and she'll probably head home on 1st.

I just booked our train tickets from Termini to Civitavecchia.  It was around $30usd. (splurged and bought 1st class seats, no less!)

Just trying to force myself to get things planned for some of the ports.  We are both pretty independent types, so we often book outside companies for excursions, or just do our own thing.

Just came back from our Alaska cruise on 11sep.......  lots of cool pics and memories.....  and one not-so-cool souvenir :  Covid.   ugh.

I am so ready to be back on a ship again.

    See ya soon.

  2. Howdy!  My husband and I have been booked on this a while.....  just now getting back into the routine of visiting here to check in on things....

We'll be flying into Rome from Phoenix, AZ a few days before, and making our way to port on 1st.....  we've made that trek before, and found the train to be a pretty easy (and inexpensive) way to get from Rome to the port.

Sooooo ready for this cruise.  I've certainly missed cruising!

  3. So, I'm dealing with a little issue at the moment.....

A little history:  We had originally booked a 14nt TransAtlantic for 24April 2020.  We booked a GTY rate at $999 each.

This cruise, like all others, was cancelled.  We chose to take the FCC in the amount of fare + 25%.......  this comes out to roughly $1249 each.

We since booked a 7nt Caribbean on 08January 2022.  We used our $1249 x 2 FCC, which left a remaining cruise fare for each of us at $89.00 plus $143.27 in taxes and fees per person.

My booking confirmation now shows an increase of $604.........  My initial answer from Celebrity was that there was an error in the calculation of my original FCC, which was supposed to be $879, according to their audit...?????   I have the original booking confirmation of the cancelled and it clearly shows the fare of $999 each, and a total paid of $2286.42.......  I obviously received a credit to my CC for the taxes and fees, but we had still had the $1998 on the books with Celebrity.

I'm trying to get this escalated to someone higher at Celebrity to resolve this.......  has anyone else had a similar experience?  Any insight or tips to resolve this issue?

    Thanks in advance

  4. Greetings to all!

I could have sworn that I had previously come across a roll-call for this sailing coming up, but for the life of me, I can't locate it......

    With that said, here goes.........

I'm Greg, and along with my husband Jeremy, we'll be enjoying this 15nt crossing.

We have previously done this (nearly) identical itinerary back on 01April 2017.  In fact, we even have the same exact Spa Mini-suite!  (the one with the super-wide, cocktail party sized balcony......  hint, hint!!)

While on past cruises, we've never much engaged with others, as we both rather enjoy the anonymity of being unknown in a sea of 5000 other cruisers.....  haha....  but last year, we did something a little different;  we cruised on Princess, and decided to enjoy the LGBTQ evening events.  We were hooked.  We met such a diverse group of people, and found that we thoroughly enjoyed getting to know so many nice people.

As such, we've decided that we'll be making a point of attending as many events onboard this sailing coming up.  If there is already another roll-call in existence, please feel free to send me the link and I'll join that one.....

In the photos, you'll see the bowling alley sized balcony, and a photo of Jeremy (L) and myself (R).

Looking forward to setting sail on 27th of April.......

  5. Greetings.....

I've searched, but did not find, a Roll Call for this sailing.

So, if no other exists, I'll start........

I'm Greg, sailing with my husband Jeremy.

Oct 02, 2018 from Copenhagen to New York City, 14 nights.

We just got back from a transatlantic from Port Everglades to Copenhagen on the Regal Princess. Had a very nice vacation, and had a very dedicated group that attended the LGBTQ gatherings each evening.

This was the first time, of our now 8 sailings, that we've done any regular participation with the LGBTQ gatherings, and we definitely look forward to doing more in the future.

I'm not sure if the meeting/event is something automatically scheduled by NCL, or if we have to reach out to them to begin the process....? I have no idea whatsoever.

Anyhow...... I am looking forward to this sailing and hope to see some activity on this Roll Call!

    See you soon!

    Greg

  6. I know we’re still just a little over two weeks from sailing, but we’ve not yet been assigned a cabin.

This is my first time on Princess, but I’m a little unsure of the categories..... BA, BB, BC and BD are standard balconies that are unobstructed? BE and BF are obstructed view?

I know that our guarantee will be in BD or higher..... and that assignment could come as late as check-in at the pier...... but....... this wait is killing me! I’m hoping that the wait will result in a pleasant surprise (I know, but don’t rain on my parade!)

Any positive guidance or experiences to share?

    Much appreciated!

    Flybear (Greg)

  7. Flybear.... we also booked Priscilla on the 7th @ 10, Burn the floor on the 11th @ 9:30, and have Cirque reserved on the 8th @9:30 in regular seating. We have done the Cirque before and found that all the seats were good and the show is amazing..... especially the bathtub act!!! Would be fun to do these activities with others in the group.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

    In consultation with the other half, it was decided (by him!) that we would be doing the early Cirque on 06April. He didn't want to be dining at 9:30pm. I guess he thinks we're 80-somethings now. {insert eye-roll here!}

  8. Greetings all!

I've been lurking on the other roll-call for this cruise, but totally forgot to check in here! So, howdy!

I'm Greg, traveling with my partner, Jeremy. We will be in a Spa Mini..... snagged the primo one with the triple-wide balcony (14118).

This will be our first T/A, and our longest cruise to date. Our last cruise was April 2016, we did the Hawaii-Vancouver on Celebrity. We enjoyed the sea days, so I'm sure we'll be able to handle the additional days on this one.

We are leaving Phoenix around March 28th to head to Orlando for a few days with some friends..... then we've booked 3 nights in Barcelona at the conclusion.

Looking forward to meeting you all aboard the Epic!

    Greg:):)

  9. We also got off on 05/06. Walked off the ship just before 9:30..... didn't get into a taxi until near 11am. It was a nail-biter wondering if we were going to make it to YVR in time to catch our 1:06 flight out.

We made it...... with even a spare moment for a potty break! :-)

Next time...... I will have private transportation arranged! The lack of stress will be well worth the extra expense!

    Greg

  10. Also, being an adjoining cabin-any noise issues because of adjoining door? Thanks.

Because of the unique way that the rooms adjoin, any issues with noise will be the same as a non-adjoining room.

Each cabin has a regular entry door...... the adjoining rooms have an extra set of front entry doors that swing out from the entry to form a common entry to the two cabins. If the doors are not adjoined, then each cabin is just a normal cabin with a normal entry. There is no door inside the cabin that leads to the other.

Have no fear....... you'll have no problems!

  11. Thank you Flybear, perhaps you can answer a couple of questions kindly. I looked at the helpful link you provided and read the page information on connecting flights. The way I read the information, we are arriving in Detroit on a Delta domestic flight from Miami followed by departing on a Delta international flight to Ottawa, Canada. Based on the link, it states that the arrival flight and departing flight will be in the same terminal. Is this correct? Secondly, will we have to obtain our luggage between the connecting flights or will that we handled by the airline to end destination? Thank you everyone for your assistance, it is really appreciated.

    Wren3,

You will arrive and depart in the same terminal. You may have to make your way from one concourse to another (they are A, B & C) but all contained within one terminal.

Your bags will be checked in at your origination, and tagged to your final destination. No need to claim anything in Detroit.

I hope this helps put your mind at ease...... and enjoy your cruise!

    Greg

  12. I've done a search, but it spits out 1.2 gazillion answers......

Our upcoming cruise includes the classic beverage package. I want to confirm that it is allowable for only 1 of the 2 in the cabin to upgrade to the Premium... Is this correct?

    Thanks in advance,

    Greg

  13. Meanwhile, back on the subject of "Epic Refurbishment"............

Any spa refurbishments slated? Reason I ask is purely selfish..... I snagged that sweet Spa Mini-Suite 14118 with the triple wide balcony for the TA in 04/17. I want to make sure I'm still getting that bowling-capable balcony! I hope they don't have plans to bump out the spa in that section!

    Greg

  14. Greetings all..... I did a search for this sailing, but did not find one, so here goes....

Greg and Jeremy here...... traveling from Phoenix. We'll be flying in the Friday before, and spending 4 days in Honolulu prior to sailing.

Booked this cruise over a year ago while aboard the Reflection. Snagged an awesome rate for a large C2 hump balcony, with beverage package and OBC.... very happy!

    See you in April!

  15. I just sailed the Jade out of Rome on April 08 for 10 nts. When we booked, we got both the UBP *and* the UDP on a balcony gty. My partner and I are not big drinkers, but we like to enjoy the worry-free aspect of knowing that we are all paid up when we set foot on the ship. The dining package, while nice to have, is not as important. (But I still wouldn't mind having it!)

I'm going to book using my Future Cruise Certificate..... this is my first time using it, so I have little familiarity with it.... if I book now, but later see a better set of perks being offered, what do I do then? The FCC has been the main reason I've held off on doing anything at all.

    Greg

  16. I hope it goes back to what April offered (or better!)

So mad at myself for not booking on the last day of April.......... I kept hemming and hawing, and couldn't make up my mind. Now that I've set my mind on the sailing (21days in April 2017) I'm now just waiting for better perks!

    Fingers crossed for June!!!!!
