  1. Hi all:

Are people still going to Pillory now that Bohio is closed.  If so, are there chairs/umbrellas for rent.  I am headed there with a larger group.  It might be nice to avoid crowds, but the ability to rent chairs/umbrellas is non-negotiable.  Are there other beaches to head to is there are currently no facilities on Pillory?  Thanks for your help!!

Trust me I am not cheap on vacation.  I never said I was not willing to pay for chairs, it is just that there are so many nicer places than Grand Turk to sit at a beach.  And Amber Cove, why leave home when i can sit at a pool for free.  I would take St Kitt's, St Maarten, Caymans, Aruba, Curacao, British Colonial Hilton in Nassau, or even beaches here in the states over Grand Turk and Amber Cove.  you may be satisfied with them, but we must have higher standards when it comes to ports/beaches. We will simply start looking for cruises that do not stop at those ports.  Problem solved!!!

You just need to leave the port.  Grand Turk has beautiful beaches with perfectly calm water.

  3. Hi, Tipia:

We are staying at this hotel pre cruise next April. I know that now we can actually pick our room and check in on the iPhone app. My question is -- how do I know which rooms would be in the better, newer part?

    Many thanks,

    Jennie

Oh gosh. I thought I had responded to this. Sorry. I tried to pull up a floor plan for the hotel, but they didn't really have it. I believe the tallest tower was the older part of the hotel, and the tower above the check-in was the newer place. you should be able to call them (PR -- it's free!!!) and ask them to reserve a renovated room for you.

  5. I loved the Caribe Hilton when I stayed. So relaxing. Make sure you stay in the newer part of the building. Don't let them put you in the old tower. It is night and day with the rooms. Once we got that out of the way, it was a great time. Also, I wouldn't eat at the hotel. PR has great food--a lot which is just a short walk or cab ride away. For example, we went to Casita Miramar which was excellent. Food was soooooo yummy. I still think about and am so sad it isn't open when our cruise stops there this time. OSJ is a short cab ride away. It is a little long of a walk particularly in the heat or at night. the Concierge recommended this great little bar that had awesome Mofongo. Wish I could remember the name so that I could tell you, but hopefully the concierge will remember.

  6. I would consider renting a car. The park will give you a map of the rainforest when you get there. It is cheap to get in. The only problem is the extra time it will take to rent the vehicle. But it would only be the cost of the vehicle plus the park entrance fee to go. And two hours is enough tiem to get a taste of the rainforest. However, OSJ is a beautiful place so you might want to stay and walk around.
