Can’t wait to see if they have them on the Discovery later this month.  🤞

Just got off the Discovery on March 9th.  We had a bag in our cabin the first day.

    Embarkation Day (continued):

We arrived at port at 9:00 AM. We made our way to the bag drop and found a porter that was very kind and took our bags away. The traffic directors were very efficient and kept things moving.

We circled around and parked. We have cruised out of San Pedro before so we benefited from some familiarity, but the signage was helpful.

Parking is set up to Tap or Swipe a credit card. 💳 There is no parking ticket, as your entry is clocked by the credit card and you use the same card upon exit. Very convenient and easy.

We found a great parking spot at this hour and with a short walk, we entered the tent (pre-security) at 9:19 AM.

Note: Getting to the port as early as we did, the last cruise is still collecting their bags, mulling around, and waiting for rides. This creates a bit of a choke point and the feeling is somewhat chaotic. What took 19 minutes felt like about 40 minutes. Just be patient and know that it works out great.

Tip: the parking lot is emptying as it fills up. Don’t be shy to park as close or as far away as you prefer. We moved close and found a spot as someone left.

Hi, quick question for you.  Did you drop off your bags before you parked?  We are boarding next Saturday, do have a great cruise.

Parking was fine. Lots of people leaving so we were fine. Discovery is the only ship in port right now. They let people into the terminal at 10. Through security Green Lane. Now we are waiting in the Elite lounge.

Thanks on reporting about the parking lot and the Elite Lounge.  I didn't know there was one in San Pedro.  Good to know.

    Bon Voyage!

When you log on, select "Manage Reservation" under the cruise you wish to view.  When it opens, scroll down to the reservation number.  There should be a blue link for "Reservation Details."  Click on this.

This will open up your reservation details.  At the bottom, it will show any payments already made and the balance due.  There should be a button which displays as "Pay Balance" right under the balance due.  To the left of this button, it should show the due date.

Thanks for the information.  But no, there is no payment details or balance due on any of my reservations.  Also no Pay Balance button.

All my reservations were booked with the Blue Chip Club, perhaps that may have something to do with it now.

It's under manage your reservation directly on Celebrity's site. You make payments and purchases there.

    Patty

I have 5 reservations with Celebrity.  Using Celebrity's website none of them shows me what I owe, when final payment is, and does not give me an option to pay online.  I used to see all this information online but no more.  Does anyone know how to see any of this information through my planner.

Date of sailing: 01/09/2022 Celebrity Edge

Cancel or Cruise: Still going, at this time

Rebooked or not? Other travel plans:  Cruises booked in April 2022 and Nov 2022.

Comment on why you made the decision (if you want) without bashing anyone who made a different choice:  Still taking a wait and see attitude.  Biggest worry is getting back home from cruise.

If we ever go back,  we'd try to get a look at the ruins at Akotiri.....very interesting excavation going on there.

We did the ship's tour that started at Akrotiri.  You take the tender to the other end of the island, away from Oia, and tour Akrotiri.  It is quite a large ruin and is covered by tarps and temp roofing to shield from the sun, highly recommend.  Then you are taken by bus and tour all the way back to Oia, arriving near sunset on our tour.

Did that coffee shop serve "Dutch Coffee"?  😉

  8. Strange things happen in those safes, under the liner.  On the same cruise I found two credit cards under there.  One belonged to a Brit so I turned that into Guest Relations, the other belonged to a good friend who was in our cabin the cruise before.  I gave her card back to her, as she was doing a B2B with us.

We have lost cameras twice while cruising, once in a cab going to HNL and the other on a tour in Akarora.    We were able to work with the tour operator and get that camera sent to us.  The one in the taxi, who knows.  Never "lost" anything in the cabin.

  9. Hi there, we are on this cruise, if you are talking about the Nov 2020 one.  As the cruise is still almost 500 days out, there are no dining packages available yet in the cruise planner.   FYI, the current price for the 12 night Specialty Dining package is $378.00 p/p. for a cruise we are doing in Oct 2019.  It also currently shows the pricing for the premium drink package as $0.00 per day,  I think that may be wrong  ;).  That's on the U.S. site.  Try checking back around January 2020.

  10. We have stayed in the aft corner S1 on deck 7.  It is a great cabin, either port or starboard.   The views are great from the aft. There is no window washing equipment parked outside the porthole window.  The balcony is nice with two lounge chairs, 2 footstools, and one table.  The balcony is uncovered so it could get quite warm in hotter climates.  There is only one closet in this room, so if you are a clothes hog then it could be tight.  We did a B2B, first in a S2 cabin (has 2 closets) and then in the S1, we found the closet space to be limited.  You are in the only suite on this deck, besides the other corner S1, so the butler may or may not make a lot of appearances.  Bulgari products, as of April 30th 2019 on the Solstice, were still being furnished in the bathroom.   I don't remember if the aft S1s on deck 7 have a pole in the room or not, but no big deal.  Don't remember if there is any vibration, but everyone is different.  I, because I am also and aft cabin lover, would take this cabin in a minute.   And the location helps you walk off all the drink/food intake.  😉

  11. Got 50% off on premium drinks packages for our cruise.  Price was $69.00 p/p per day and I just booked packages at 34.50 p/p per day.

It's a different story for unlimited internet package for one device.  Yesterday it was $195 for the length of the cruise.  Today it is $255.00 for one device.

Well one out of two ain't bad!  😉

  12. You may want to check out the Omni Parker House.  It's been there since the 1800s and is the place that the Kennedys' made famous.  Lot's of history and great location on the Freedon Trail.  Also the best place in Boston for a Boston Cream Pie, it was invented there.

  13. Here are the new signature restrictions.  I know that you can still see all your old signature settings, but if you try to edit your signature it will not save it until your signature is in complaince.

  14. OK, our first river cruise is about to start, AMA Dante, Aug 09, Nuremberg to Luxembourg, with precruise in Prague and post cruise in Paris.. Suitcases come out on Aug 05 and we will pack, as light as possible (that will be interesting). Catch our flight for Prague on Aug 06, for our short precruise stay there.

We are looking forward to this trip on AMAWaterways, as we have heard many good things about this line. Bringing lots of shorts and sunscreen, as temps are quite high, 80s/90s. Fingers crossed that we don't run into any itinerary changes/long bus rides due to the low water levels on the rivers.

  15. Island hopping in Hawaii is quite easy and fairly cheap. Take a look at Hawaiian Airlines inter island flights to Maui and Kauai and back to Oahu, if needed. All flights are less than an hour. They also fly to all the other islands. If you decide to stay in Maui, there is direct flights to Los Angeles. We are doing this cruise in 2019 and doing a post stay in Hawaii, at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel in Honolulu.

    Good Evening.......................................

I wonder how easy it is to island hop

Any opinions would be gratefully received.

    Thank you
