My closest upcoming cruise is 94 days away, so I am not within the usual Upgrade Advantage window yet. For those of you set to sail in November or December, is Upgrade Advantage running as normal? Usually, it becomes available 80 days prior to sailing. Since final payment isn't due unto 60 days for these sailings, are you able to bid for an upgrade before making final payment on your initial booking?

We are booked on the 11/22 sailing of the Jade from Tampa and received our Upgrade Advantage email on August 29.  We had already made final payment and are hoping to move up to a balcony from an oceanview.

  2. We are booked on the July 10, 2021 sailing of Oceana and our reservation hasn't been cancelled.  Has anyone's future reservation on Oceana been cancelled yet?  If so, what dates?  I would imagine they would be processing them in order of sailing dates and it might be a while before we are cancelled and offered a refund or future cruise credit.

  3. I usually use Travel Guard and their Gold policy.  24.3 cruises and I had never used my insurance until the .3 cruise that was cancelled on day 3 of a 10 day voyage.  I was very pleased with how things worked out with my first travel insurance claim.

I am a kidney transplant recipient so I normally purchase for medical evacuation just in case, but it came in really handy when the cruise was cancelled for mechanical reasons.

  4. I have done it.  It is a very easy process.  Call NCL with your Travel Agent information and they will transfer the booking to the agent.  However, keep in mind, NCL really won't talk with you again after you are booked with an agent.  They will only work through the agent.

So sorry for the aggravation and disappointment! I would be so upset.

Maybe plan a land vacay (with the refunded money) to Pompeii, Rome, Florence...They are amazing! Then book another cruise using the credit. Two vacays for the price of one!

The only problem with the "plan a land vacay" is that NCL takes their time in refunding the money.  I was on the Jade that cancelled in November and it took 2-3 weeks to get the refund.  Not everyone can float the cost of 2 vacations for 2-3 weeks.

I planned ahead and had travel insurance that covered all of my out of pocket costs that NCL didn't cover (hotel, taxi, meals in San Juan).

We are staying in Copenhagen for 1 night before our Baltics cruise in June. I have 3 hotels booked and need to choose 1. Could I have some feedback on the different hotels?

    AC Hotel Bella Sky Copenhagen

    Crown Plaza Copenhagen Towers

    CPH Studio Hotel

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thank you

I am cruising after you and we have booked the AC Hotel for our July 4 cruise.  If you end up staying there, I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Not all of us are lucky enough to live in Florida and be able to just cruise again in a year.  Yes, they are giving us money towards another cruise however there are many more expenses that go along with going away.  I am not complaining I am just stating a fact.  They also are only covering $300 per person for air changes which doesnt cover it.  My question was just inquiring if Travel Insurance would cover what they dont.

I was on the Jade that was interrupted at Thanksgiving and my Travel Insurance (Travel Guard) did pay in addition to what NCL covered.  My advice is to check with your insurer.

did you arrange for your own travel from Puerto Rico to FL? Why was it so expensive?

We took the first charter out to Miami, Norwegian paid for our hotel stay in Miami, and the next morning we flew MIA-ATL for $146 pp.

You appear to be from FL.... The other people we met on the way were flying back to Germany and Australia, so I'd understand if their expenses were $1,800 total...

I waited to book flights until Tuesday afternoon waiting on an NCL charter that we were never called for.  By that time I was purchasing a very last minute flight on the day before Thanksgiving.  Flights were $700 each plus hotel, meals and transportation.  NCL is mailing a check for $1300 (650/person as stated) and I have filed with Travel Insurance for the balance.

  9. All charges paid in advance of the cruise have been refunded to my credit card, the voucher was available and we have booked our next cruise.  I submitted receipts to Guest Relations on 11/26 totaling almost $1800 in out of pocket expense to get home from  Puerto Rico.  I received an email today from NCL that they are processing a check for $1300 (650/person).  I had private travel insurance and will be filing with them for the remainder of out of pocket expense.

    Dear Mr. Johnson:

    Thank you for your correspondence.

We apologize for any disappointment and inconvenience you experienced, due to the cancellation of your November 16, 2018 voyage aboard Norwegian Jade.  We have received your receipts for your out of pocket expenses. As such, we have requested a check on your behalf from our accounting department in the amount of $1,300.00, which represents our maximum of $650.00 per person out of pocket expense coverage. This check will be forwarded to you under separate cover within approximately 3-4 weeks.

We appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and look forward to welcoming you onboard in the near future.

  10. We made it home at 10pm last night.  We had a flight yesterday morning that Delta oversold so we decided to stay in PR for the day for $500 each.  I was able to call the hotel we had checked out of and they agreed to let us come back and stay in the room until time to leave for the later flight.

Our CruiseNext voucher from this trip has already been redeposited in my account.  The agent at NCL told me that it might take until Tuesday/Wednesday of next week for the credit vouchers to be posted because of the holiday...but she said it should be able to applied to an existing booking, so we took advantage of a Black Friday sale from an online travel agency and just booked a 9-night Baltic Capitals cruise sailing on July 4.

Hope everybody make it back where they want to be soon.  This was an adventure we will NEVER forget.

well, I just got an email from NCL about my cruise cancellation.  In the letter the $25 pp insurance premium was refunded as well as the cruise fare. So, does that mean I don't have the basic Norwegian insurance?

I got the same email.  They refunded the cruise fare, cruise next certificate, prepaid gratuities and prepaid spa pass.  They didn't refund my prepaid soda package, but I'm calling about that now.

  12. After waiting and waiting, we decided to forego the NCL Charters and booked Delta flights for tomorrow morning and got a nice room at the Marriott Resort and Casino.  After reading this thread of the issues with late flights last night, we decided we didn't want to be in that situation and we have travel insurance that should cover the expenses.  Good luck to all our fellow passengers.

DH and I are on the ship.  Trying to find out more details.

Pax will receive a full refund and a future credit depending on fares paid. They just offer everyone 60 min of free internet.  It’s a good thing we upgraded ourselves last minute and enjoyed 3 days of free Haven.  Lol

    Keep calm and cruise on.

    WooHoo on enjoying the Haven!

  14. My wife, @Hawaiideb, and I are also on the sailing.  I was number 2 in line for guest services when the Captain made the announcement.  They told me that charter planes will take us back to Miami on Tuesday, cruise will be refunded and value we paid will be credited for a future cruise.  Captain also announced that NCL will pay up to $600 of change fees for passengers airline change fees from Miami.

We will be able to come and go from the ship as we want tomorrow to see more of San Juan.

Looking forward to more information as it is available.
