  1. Im the OP.....I have been on enough cruises to know you cant predict the seas but some areasof the world are known for rougher seas. Most of our cruises have been Caribbeanin the spring, then we tried the Med cruise and hit a horrible night and I was sure my partner would never cruise again....then last week I got her to do the NCLGem to Canada/NE and she had two seasick nites......Just asked the question because if it an area known for rougher seas....it would be my last cruise ever. thanks KIRKNC your comment helped me decide a land tour to Britain might be my best bet

  2. New to Norwegian, going on the Gem on the 20th. Reading rules and regs says we can bring wine aboard but says they charge a corkage fee if used in restaurants and then says in stateroom too. In the past we brought wine aboard and there was no corkage fee if opened in our stateroom.....and how would they. Another question is whether we can bring wine aboard in the ports we visit or just on embarkation.

  3. We are sailing on the Gem in Sept out of NYC. We have heard conflicting info about the need to reserve entertainment on the ship. Do we have to pre-reserve to go to the shows on the Gem. A person told us they went on a NCL cruise and couldn't see any of the shows because they did not pre-book. On "my ncl" the availabitly of reserving dining and excursions is lit up but not the entertainment. One NCL rep told us that this pre booking shows did not apply to the Gem, while another told us it wasn't availlable because they book 30% and we would have to be sure to book on the ship when we first arrived.????? First time on NCL, never heard of prebooking shows before

  4. Overall the cruise was fine and we had a great time. Great weather which I know RCL doesn't control. The one thing that struck me is that the exterior of the ship is quite rusted. Big rust streaks coming down from the anchor area, and in general needs an exterior paint job. In the past it seems like we always saw them painting the exterior at every port stop. Selling it like they did the Monarch??
