Golden Princess fact sheet
height 177 feet = 53.94 metres
Sydney Harbour Bridge
clearance = 49 metres
Yes I've seen this and it definitely doesn't fit, yet if you check out the Sun Princess fact sheet https://www.princess.com/news/backgrounders_and_fact_sheets/factsheet/Sun-Princess-Fact-Sheet.html it states she is 8 feet taller than Golden... which has to be rubbish surely. So I guess you can't place too much faith in these statistics. Sun definitely goes under the bridge though.

I think she may be getting her pipes cleaned out too, seems a regular job for these class ships, including Sun and Sea Princess. They all have problems with their sewer systems.

Or there'll be a change of plans and customer service doesn't have the details now.
With all the runaround everyone's been getting, that is entirely possible.

Arrival in Sydney Oct 30 2020. So this has been discussed on another thread as to whether Pacific Adventure will dock in White Bay as listed in the port schedule or debark everyone by ferry and there's been some dispute about getting her under the bridge as Golden Princess has never been able to.
I messaged P&O and asked the question and this is their reply...
"Hi Chris, thanks for your message. When Pacific Adventure joins P&O, she will be able to fit under the bridge and will berth at White Bay Cruise Terminal on 30 October 2020."
Not sure exactly how but they did say it would be a spectacular arrival.... I hope for all the right reasons. 😅

Yep, that’s us. We got notification at 3am this morning (departing today). I’m happy with the change, I’d rather be out of the smoke, except I flew up to Sydney from Melbourne yesterday to board the ship and have packed warm weather clothing, Hobart is quite the climate change, I just wish they’d told us with 24-48 hours notice so packing could be adjusted.Yes it is short notice but I suppose can't be helped in this case. Hope it isn't too cold for you. We are travelling on the mid north coast atm and the smoke isn't pleasant but thankfully the fires have calmed down for the moment.

Last time they gave the pax some OBC to buy a jacket/ jumper.
I think they have offered everyone $50 OBC, they will probably stock the shops with warm clothes and sell out.

I’m headed to Moreton Island on Carnival next week, hoping it’ll blow out to sea by then, of they’ll change the itinerary and take us south insteadJust heard Carnival Spirit's Moreton island itinerary is diverted to Hobart this week, is this your cruise?

Big difference for us was the old Toyotas, Fords and Holdens seem to have been replaced by Dodge Rams and Chev pickups.
More expats own businesses now but much more is Chinese ownership.
Siesta seems to also have disappeared, even when no ships in port.
Yes, was speaking to someone on our last cruise who was very knowledgeable about Vanuatu and had been many times. He said so much was now being bought up by the Chinese. It's a great shame.

It hadn't changed much in the 20 years since 1995 when we first went there on the fantastic TSS Fairstar. Have been back three times this decade. Still love Vanuatu.

NO ...........it would not 😡😡😡😡 😁😁
Oops well maybe not for everyone 😆

It would make more sense to bring Adventure into the OPT first, disembark passengers by 9.30 or so then move the ship to Athol Buoy and bring Serenade in. But what would i know about logistics. Seems easier than the alternative to me.

That is a tad confusing, and more importantly scary, however that is to be expected on Halloween.
Haha I didn't think of that, wonder if it will be trick or treat 👻🦇🎃

If it is the 30th October you are talking about , your ship is overnighting in Sydney so the first day you will be moored at Athol Buoy and tendered like any other tender port and then after the Serenade leaves You will move to the OPT and then the debark / embark will be as normal on the second day.
Yes it is the 30th and I wouldnt mind at all if that happens but our cruise is supposed to end on the 30th not the 31st so it's a bit confusing. I thought maybe P&O would use the extra day for media and publicity purposes.

Didn't one of the RCL's ships managed to disembark and embark from White Bay while anchored at Athol Buoy a few years ago?
I think it was Radiance of the Seas got bumped by Ovation of the Seas:
Interesting, I wonder how this ended.
They might have to do this next year as Pacific Adventure and Serenade of the Seas are listed as coming in together on Oct 30, the first to White Bay and the second to the OPT. Pacific Adventure is not departing until the next day from the OPT.
-
Just wondering how all this ended up working out.
Looks like the same thing may happen to us next year. At this stage we are scheduled to come in to White Bay on the new/second-hand Pacific Adventure and RCI Serenade of the Seas is listed for the OPT. As far as i know neither ship will fit under the bridge.

Seeing as those on social media are seen as authorities on cruising (or anything for that matter 🙂 )
Yes, well they seem to think they are.

Maybe they are bringing it in on low tide.😋
With all of us jumping up and down. 🤗

There was a slightly heated discussion about this on social media recently with many people insisting Adventure would dock at White Bay on her maiden voyage. Some people insisted Golden Princess would be reconfigured to fit under the bridge. Seeing as I will be on her I'm intrigued to know how.
-
Sydney Ports have it docking at White Bay on the maiden voyage. I'm not real confident about that seeing as I'll be on it. Can't see how that will work out well 😮
-
We are booked too, can't wait to see the new and improved Golden Princess.

Thanks Ian,
Yes I had heard the login was a problem from Australia, still dont know why they refused to answer my emails but my TA managed to sort it. We are thinking of doing the excursions independently as well. Last time we were there with Princess that seemed to be the much cheaper option.

We will be staying at the Intercontinental pre and post cruise next month. I can let you know what we think when we get home (if you can wait that long!).
-
Cry5allis, Are you on the May 6 cruise? I hope so, Australians are so much fun!
Sometimes too much fun, lol. No texasstar, we are on the 13th, we'll be getting on when you're getting off. Shame, it would be great to "know" someone onboard!
**Update on my login problems, my TA managed to get a reply from Windstar and they've fixed the problem, so I can now check out what's on offer in the way of excursions.

The view would be good from there, but it definitely looks like a handle. I can just see it getting wedged under the harbour bridge on the way through.
