  1. Please note

    • Due to state laws, we cannot sell CHEERS! until the second day of the cruise (starting at 6:00am) for voyages departing from our Texas and New York home ports.
    • Program only applicable for onboard purchases.
    • CHEERS! is not offered on 2 day cruises, charter cruises, on ships sailing from Australia (Carnival Spirit and Carnival Legend) and beverage purchases made at Half Moon Cay and Princess Cays in The Bahamas.

Thanks, I was too dumb to look at the rules!!!

  2. Can you use the "Social" plan for simple emails (or simple texts) ?

I don't use FB or any of that other stuff.

I could be wrong but I thought the social plan (which is the lowest plan) is only for social networking like Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, etc. If you want one for emails that would be the middle plan.

  3. I’ve tried searching, but haven’t had much luck. Can anyone point me towards a review of a FAMILY review on the Sunshine?

I’ve just booked our first family cruise for next year and I would like to read up on other families experiences, tips, etc

We leave in 40 days and it will be my wife, our three sons (ages 16, 13, and 10), and my parents (their first ever cruise). I would be more than happy to report back.

  4. Hi all,

I have a question... we have sailed on Carnival out of NYC a few years ago when CHEERS was first introduced and until we got out to sea we had to pay tax on the drinks but they were still covered under the program and we were able to activate the card. We just booked the Carnival Horizon for July 2018 and I see that the policy now says you cant use CHEERS til Day 2? Can someone who has recently sailed out of NYC clarify how this works?

I can't speak for NYC but this was the case for us when we sailed out of Galveston. It was my understanding (and I could have totally misunderstood it) that they can not do the Cheers package until day 2 on cruises sailing out of these ports due to state or city "happy hour" laws. Basically meaning that you can't offer discount drink rates based on ordering large quantities, etc.

  5. Yeah they kinda are and I don't have any issue with the answers being provided. Everyone keeps saying I am to blame also and I have said that I DO TAKE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITY for this. I purposely book with an agent because of not understanding a lot of the language used on websites so YES I DO HOLD THE AGENT RESPONSIBLE TOO. I have not and will not "BASH" Carnival. All I have said is that I will not cruise Carnival again and if that offends anyone then suck it up. I have "BASHED" the agent. There was deceit on the agents part when he lied to me.

I am done with Cruise Critic. It is pathetic that a person can not post something without it being taken apart and only what people feel is wrong is picked apart and totally taken out of context. After this post I am deleting my account.

To the few people who actually stated some useful things thank you.

So now because a number of replies to your post, you are now grouping cruise critic as a whole into being a bad site. Sorry, but it sounds like you have issues determining who to blame. If I were you I would never turn on another computer or use the internet because the evil computer allowed you to use the evil internet to come to the evil cruise critic site that the evil members comment on.

  6. I did not bash Carnival. I just said this was my first and last Carnival cruise. The "bashing" as you put it was with the agent. Before you accuse a person of bashing get your facts straight.

No, you're totally bashing a complete cruise line based off of ONE individual. Have you tried contacting anyone at Carnival to try and rectify the issue? If you have not even made an attempt to let them correct it, then you have zero room to distrust the company as a whole.

  7. Did the research and Carnival Cheers FAQ's does show self dispensing machine are NOT included.

I stand corrected and admit my lack of knowledge. Thank you for confirming that for us. You definitely just saved me some money on my upcoming cruise because lord knows I would have stopped to have one poured!!!

  8. Last year when we sailed on a different cruise line. We were told that safety regulations would not allow any of the balcony dividers to be opened. That did not stop my nephew from opening it (with the help of toe nail clippers) a few times while we enjoyed the balcony as a family.

That's weird that they wouldn't allow it. Carnival definitely allows it and our two cabins are compatible.

  9. Carnival wins when people buy cheers. If they didn't win , it would not be offered. Think about it. Carnival feels they are making more money by selling you Cheers than they would if you bought every drink individually.

Soooo-- if they win, who do you think loses ?

Then from that argument you should never go on a cruise period because Carnival is winning and you are losing because of the rate you book your cruise is obviously still making Carnival money.

The Cheers program isn't about getting the better deal for everyone. Let's be honest, if you're so concerned about the pricing and if you are getting a good deal for yourself, then you probably should be going on a cruise in the first place. I will continue to get the Cheers every single time I go on a cruise because A) it is paid for in advance and therefore I don't have to worry about what I am ordering while on the ship, B) it allows me the flexibility of trying new things and not thinking I wasted my money if I don't like it, and C) because if I was concerned about at least breaking even, then I know that without a doubt I am always money ahead on the Cheers even if I only had 5 or 6 drinks a day.

  10. I got it on my cruise last year and pretty much broke even. However I did find myself making sure that I drank more than 6 drinks a day every day to break even. I told myself that I probably wouldn't get Cheers again on my next cruise but after reading a thread about the Alchemy drinks I decided to go ahead and get it. I am leaving from Galveston so I just have to pay for 6 days and I do have $200 in OBC that I will use to pay for it. Since this is my only cruise this year I am going to do it and try all of those yummy drinks.

If you are going to purchase the cheers with your OBC, you will end up paying more money for the cheers package than paying for it ahead of time.

  11. We have always had to go to Guest Services to have ours opened. You didn't mention in your post if both cabins are in your name. If they aren't, one person from the other cabin will have to go with you to have it opened. They will check a list to see if it can be opened, then write it down on a list. Usually within a few hours, it will be opened.

Thanks for that bit of information. Our reservations are tied together since it's ones family, but my wife's name is the adult on one of the rooms.

  12. Oh yeah, I am super excited. We just confirmed and paid for our upgrade for our Sunshine cruise on March 11th. Going from an ocean views on deck one to balcony rooms on deck eight.

Quick question for people that have had rooms next to each other. We only did this because they said we could request that the balcony divider be opened up between two of our rooms since we were going from adjoining rooms. They said we just had to request this when we check in. Does anyone know if there is a way to put this request in ahead of time?

    Thanks in advance!!!

  13. while the muster drill itself is only 15 minutes, you still have to stand in a crowded line for hours on end in the hot humid miserable weather

I have never had to stand in line that long. The muster drill has never lasted more than 30 minutes or so in total on my cruises.

  14. We are sailing on the Sunshine August 10th. Can anyone tell me if we muster outside or inside. We have done both and it won't impact our enjoyment. Just wondering.

    Thanks

I am by no means trying to sound like a jerk, but how can a 15 minute muster drill impact your enjoyment of the cruise?
