  1. We have done one of these tours the last day, twice now and had no issues.

Whether you purchase it from the cruise line or directly from them you are on the same excursion if it’s the same day and time.

We usually buy online and not from

    Ncl (its $25 cheaper!)

and every time it’s an equal mix of those who purchased via their cruise line and on their own(but are still on a cruise ship leaving that day)

  2. Yes, but the point is you can't buy ticket books in Dockyard and that's why it's important to be clear when describing ticket books and transportation passes. People have often gotten confused about what can be purchased where when someone has used an imprecise name.

I'm pretty sure you made your point ☝️

  3. A2stylist incorrectly identified a ticket book as "bus ferry passes". They are different . You can't purchase the ticket books, which have 14 tickets, at Dockyard. You can buy transportation passes, as well as tokens at Dockyard. You would have to buy the ticket books in Hamilton. (Passes and tokens are also sold in Hamilton.)

Each ticket from the ticket book can be used for one bus or ferry ride. Each token can be used for one bus or ferry ride. Transportation passes are sold by the day...one day, two day, three day (there are also longer pass times that are bought by local residents) and allow unlimited bus and ferry rides for the length of time the pass is valid.

I said you can buy them when you get off the ferry in Hamilton.

    My apologies!

  5. If you buy tokens ($4.50/each) as soon as you get off the ship that will get you to Hamilton and there you can buy a book of 14zone bus/ferry passes. It's cheapest and not sold at dock by ship. Busses are fairly easy to navigate.

Don't rely on locals for those though.

Mopeds are highly discouraged but some still use them.

Every year I'm shocked at how many inexperienced people "try" them and get hurt. When we were there last week they had just put out another warning because two cruise visitors were killed in moped accidents in the last couple weeks [emoji15]

  6. While I was out on the Restless Native last week, a couple of us were stung by a Medusa -- it looked like a small jellyfish to me. Our Captain Xander went out and caught the beast in a bucket, but I'm sure there are more in the Bermuda waters somewhere.

That's what happened on Rising Son as well.

They were as shocked as we were that so many got stung.

Even once they had the one they thought was responsible, several other people on different sides of the boat were stung.

We did not however see any washed up on the beach when we were there earlier in the week.

We have in the past around this time

    Of the year.

  7. We were out on a catamaran last Friday and for the first time since we've been coming to Bermuda, saw many jellyfish stings!

At least 5 people were stung in different areas of the water. It was crazy! However my dh and I were snorkeling and didn't get stung. I did get out of the water quickly once I heard people complaining of getting stung!

  8. Elbow beach resort next door to Coco reef is available. It shows blacked out online (due to am cup) but we were told to get there early and go down to the beach. We did and it was $100 for two chairs and an umbrella. We were two of just a few on the beach at 10:00.

No lunch like at coco reef but that's ok. It wasn't crowded and oh so comfortable:)

We just ate at Mickeys restaurant which is right there and open to public.

But they also offer service while you are on your beach lounger if you want.

They have all kinds of kayaks, paddle boards and other floatations you can use.

Just past the resort on the beach was a young guy renting the same chairs and umbrellas for $50! We talked to him and he said his mom is the manager there and they "let" him rent them on that public beach.

When we went to leave they call a driver to take you back up to the bus stop.

  9. We typically do two days of resort for a day at elbow beach.

This visit we did one day at elbow, day two sight seeing around Hamilton and a celebrity/house boat tour in the afternoon. Then we went back over to Hamilton in the evening for harbor nights.

Last half day we love rising son catamaran for snorkel and swim.

In the past we've also taken a day to go to st George sight seeing. Tobacco bay etc. lots and lots of walking, but really get to see the island.

The crystal cave and swizzle inn took a half day.

If you plan to go to Hamilton get a token for the ferry then buy a book of paper tokens when you get off there, much cheaper and they don't sell them where you get off the ship.

  10. We have stayed at a hotel across the river in Nj then drive to the port imperial/weehawken ferry(in the morning) to park for the week. Is an easy walk right into the ferry and over to the pier.

We have parked there twice now and it's $140/week. Super clean, safe and did I mention easy lol?

We actually just got off the Breakaway this morning!

  11. Experience- crew was beyond friendly and funny!

They took us to a more secluded cove as there was another catamaran going to the same area.

They offer paddle boarding and kayaking at no extra fee.

Rum swizzles were 2/5 on the way to snorkel and then free on the way back.

It went almost an hour longer than we were supposed to(but they asked first if we wanted to hang out longer)

This was at the end of May of 2016 for reference. I can't recall price but know it was about $25 cheaper than it was offered to us via NCL

  12. We had a great time on the Pride and overall I thought it compared favorably with the Gem even if it is a little older. Won't have all the bells and whistles of the BA of course but it is much easier to get around and see everything.

Thank you! Weve been told the rooms are bigger than NCL so that's a plus!

How is the dress code for dinner? I liked that about the breakaway, we could dress in a sundress or skirt and no hauling fancy clothes!

  13. Hi Amy. This is a tough one! I have been on the Breakaway and we loved it too. The Pride is a great ship and we enjoyed it, but keep in mind that it is a much older and smaller ship than the Breakaway. Carnival does however, gear towards families and I think your kids should like it.

On Celebrity, the Reflection is a much newer ship and I would say the demographics is a more mature crowd, but you are going on spring break and I am sure there will be tons of kids. We love the service and food on Celebrity a lot!!! It is also about the same size as the Breakaway. Either way, I think you will be fine.

    Thank you

  14. I'm looking for opinions. We've only cruised twice and only as a couple on the NCL breakaway out of NYC.

We are looking at cruises out of Baltimore(Carnival Pride) or out of Miami(Celebrity Reflection) over spring break with our girls (13&9)

I'm nervous with it being their first cruise and also a new to us ship.. We could take the NCL Breakaway that week too but the other have better choices for rooms etc.

    Can anyone experienced help me?

    Thanks!

    Amy

  15. If you get two chairs and an umbrella they will give a special of $40 instead of $45. I believe that the concessionaire has changed to the same one building the new bar and restaurant.

I forgot to mention an important detail. They now carry the chairs and umbrella to where you want them on the beach.

Yes we were there on the BA May 25/26/27 and we paid $25 for two chairs and an umbrella and they do set it up for you! Maybe because we went later in the day or they just raised the price since its busier.

  16. We did the Rising Son catamaran. We booked it ourselves after much research. It was the exact same as the one NCL books for you but about $20 less. When we questioned NCL they literally had no answer as to why it was better to book through them other than they did it for us...

We did it on Friday morning and we're back in plenty of time to eat lunch on board and even do some shopping before boarding to sail away. The RSC owner was awesome and went above and beyond for everyone on our trip(70 of us!)

Lots on our sailing had booked like us and just as many through NCL.
