Hi Rob! I'm Frank and my partner Thomas and I are traveling on this cruise with my lesbian sister and our gay friend Morgan. We are currently based in Ventura but have lived all over CA (San Francisco and other cities in the Bay Area, Sacramento, Ojai, San Diego). We just can't stay in one place for too long and no, we are not on the run from the law.

I am considering a last minute HAL cruise to Alaska on the Amsterdam ship in July. Does anyone have any thoughts or recommendations on this? Is this a good time to see Alaska? What's the weather like? What's the Amsterdam ship like? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

How far is it from the port to the Volcanoes National Park in Hilo? Is there a way to get there without paying for one of the cruise ship-led excursions?

I will earn enough cruise nights to move to Platinum status early on an upcoming cruise. Can I get upgraded in the middle of that cruise? Or does my status not change until the end of that cruise? Silly question but one wants to get all the benefits one can!
