  1. Now that you don't have to select an embarkation time, what time does embarkation open? I can't find the information on the new app. We are leaving out of Ft. Lauderdale on the Sky if that helps 🙂

  2. I saw on Facebook that the Caribbean Princess was running on one engine and had to change its port schedule because of this. Does anyone know if this is something that they can fix once they are in port? We are set to board on Saturday and i'm wondering if anyone heard of any changes due to these issues or the expected weather.

Post number 3 is correct. Both grandmother and minor will require valid passports. Princess does not accept a birth certificate and ID (WHTI) in the OP's situation. Refer to the passage contract Section 2, Paragraph iii. It is very clear on the OP's situation and provides the reasons.

Thank you, I chatted with a person on the Prince live chat and they gave me a completely different answer, which is not overly surprising but I wanted to find something in writing to support what I remembered.

I would expect you would need some form of documentation from the actual parents that the grandchild is allowed to be in your custody for the duration of the journey.

Yes, we will have a notarized letter from the parents saying it is okay to travel with him.

  5. I am looking for anyone with experience in a grandmother and minor cruising. We are have sent in our passports for renewal (expedited) but with the unexpected jump in US wait times for passports we are cutting it very close. Can a grandmother cruise with a minor who only has a birth certificate? It is a closed loop cruise from Ft Lauderdale to the western Caribbean. We will also be sending a notarized letter and power of medical attorney.   I am just trying to see if this is possible….

  6. Hi Pettygirl,

My kids have been cruising with us for year and love the kids clubs. I have a 13 year old and 7 year old currently but they both started going to "Boat School" as they dubbed it when they were 4. For the 6 year old age group, go to the kids areas right away and get them on the list (as you said) you should also sign the waiver on the cruise presonalizer to get them preregistered. They will put a kids patter in your room the first day with events/parties/dinners ect. for the whole cruise. You will also get to decide if the kids can check them self into and out of the kids club. We have never used the afterhours babysitting but they do usually have 2 nights per cruise where they have a dinner/dance/pj party during dinner time to give the parents a way to enjoy formal nights. They will have themed days/nights with games, crafts and video game tournaments. My kids also love to go to the t-shirt making and stuffed animal making events each cruise. When we were in Alaska they even brought a naturalist onboard to talk to the kids about Alaska and the different animals and climate. Let me know if you have any questions, i'd be more them happy to answer whatever. As my kids have gotten older they seem to use the kids clubs more and more often.

  7. We were on the Majestic in Feb and we talked to the head waiter the first night of dining, we really liked our table and servers and asked if we could have the same table and staff each night and they were able to reserve that through him. Days we had specialty dining we just let them know and they still brought the menu's to my husband the night before and let him preorder. They also had and allergen safe chef's dessert each night. We were also told that if we wanted to eat at the buffet, to ask to talk to the chef on duty and he would walk us around and let us know what was safe. We had no problems or worries the whole week and were able to enjoy a wonderful cruise.

  8. We did it last year and it was a great encounter, the rays are smaller then you will see in the wild encounters, but the staff was hilarious and they had a photographer there to to take pictures, she also took a few pictures with my iPhone for me too (in a wet bag). A few bits of advice, the stingrays get fed all day and are way more interested in the morning according to the guide. Also, if you can get in on the first or second session the groups seem to be much smaller, giving you more one on one time and attention from the rays.

search princess 3 day sale.  It should be live tomorrow.  It will be better than booking direct because of the gratuities.  Good luck.

We just got confirmation that the sale will start tomorrow through day from out agent! We are booking for Jan 2021.

  10. I have my eye on a Jan 2021 Mexican Riviera cruise on the Royal, but all of the current sales do not cover sailings that far out. Does anyone know when these cruises typically start having sales and incentives? Is there any advantage in just booking now? The other catch is I would like a premium balcony, which comes up as able to be reserved but you can not choose your cabin... so i'm not sure if that means it is to early or that rooms are scares. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  11. Hi All,

We did the Breakfast with Stanley on our cruise in March. It was cute, but since it was the first time they ran the event it was a little disorganized. It was a nice breakfast with theme food as well as a limited dining room menu if anyone wanted anything outside of the bear face pancakes and combo breakfast. However, the food did not come out at the same time so my kids were done eating and bored by the time the adults received their food. They did have fun music and Stanley came to see all the kids and you were able to take your own pictures (there was not a photographer there). My main problem was that the breakfast was for children but the only time slot was 8 am on a sea day, it made for a busy and long day. I also think that price was a bit high for a family, we had 3 adults and two kids, so for $50 I don't think it was a great value. Carnival does a Dr. Seuss breakfast for $5 and I think it is much better done, theme, presentation and interactivity wise.

  12. I just saw this as well, it says that our deck Marina (mini-suite) will board at 3?!? We usually get there around noon and enjoy getting familiar with the board and check in at the kids camp well before the ship leaves at 4! Also, since we have to be out of our hotel by noon, it might make for an interesting start to the cruise leg of our vacation 😞

A variation of Carnival's Dr. Seus Breakfast, perhaps?

I think they are trying to be a little more family friendly to compete for some of the younger crowed. We enjoyed the Carnival Dr. Seuss breakfast and i'm hoping this has a similar feel but with the higher end Princess touches.
