  1. I'm sorry we invited friends who've only sailed on Royal before to come on our next cruise. I'm just not happy with some of the choices Carnival is making lately. And the American Table menus look disgusting.

This just might be our last Carnival cruise.

Have you had the food in the MDR of Royal Caribbean? You may be sorry your friends are coming, but trust this - they won't be. The #1 reason we have not returned to RC was the horrid food.

As for the American table and feast menus, why don't you give them a chance before judgment? They are better than anything in a Royal Caribbean MDR,. I know I have had both.

    ^^^^YYEEEEESSSSS!

  2. This may be old news to some of you but I just called Carnival to get another $40.00 in savings and there is a recording telling you that price drops are to now be submitted online and no longer over the phone. I waited to speak with a representative because I didn't hear the whole message (it was cutting in and out) and she confirmed they will no longer be doing it over the phone in September.

She said it was because the online system is more accurate in whether or not the price drop actually applies to the person requesting it, where as a representative honors it when sometimes they shouldn't.

  3. We were also awarded with $253 in OBC after calling this afternoon for our Liberty sailing in October.

For those of you experienced with this sort of thing - what are my options in the future? This is what we did:

--Booked room 2350 (Interior, Deck 2) in February under Early Saver

--Called today and took an inside guarantee with $253 OBC

Am I eligible in the future for any more price drops? How will I know which ones apply to me?

  4. Good morning :) I am new to looking at the Fair Viewer and trying to see if we could eventually upgrade to a balcony for a reasonable difference. While checking this morning, I see that there is a sale going on called "More = Merrier for $1,116.00 plus taxes and fees which are currently $398.04 for four people bringing the total for a category IS to $1,514.04.

We are booked in a category 4B right now and, if I understand how this works, the sale I mentioned above is one where Carnival will assign you a room. There is a savings advantage there and we do not care where we are on the ship.

Is this something I can request to take advantage of the savings? Are you allowed to change it again in the future if a balcony becomes available at a rate I am willing to pay later? I appreciate any assistance :)

  5. I know many have said it but THANK U for such an AWESOME review!!!!!! I been on Fascination before and will be on it again April 19th and looking at your review has me so excited you would think I've never cruised before!!! And I must say when looking through I kept thinking to myself she has an awesome camera! The time you took out to do your review is greatly appreciated:D

Awwee thanks so much! Looking at the reviews before our cruise made me pretty happy so I wanted to contribute a little something back ;) I am pleased everyone has enjoyed it so much. I plan on doing the same for Liberty in October.

  6. I have to agree here. We just returned from our first ever Carnival cruise and we were BLOWN AWAY. So many of the negative comments I heard about Carnival were undeserved. The food (which I heard the worst things about) was fabulous and the entertainment did not lack. And the service...WOW is all I can say.

As for the Flowrider comment...I am sure it is great when it's open. On our RCCL cruise, the thing was always closed and 75% of the time it was open, it was open for lessons that you pay extra for. It was ridiculous, really.

  7. What is this? They did not have this last july. Thanks!!

The Taste Bar is a little space that you can overlook if you aren't careful. It is next to the Casino and they sample little offerings from the restaurants on other ships. For instance, the Caribbean bites are from the Red Frog Pub, the pork was from the Blue Iguana Bar and the meatball was from their Italian Restaurant Cucina Del Capitano. Here is Carnival's description:

"A voyage to new destinations is the perfect time to try new things… and here’s the perfect place: The Taste Bar. Stop in to The Taste Bar for a new and different delicacy each day — the dishes will give you a taste of the flavors that await at dining venues across the Carnival fleet. Pick up a complimentary appetizer before dinner for a taste of something different."

  8. Great review! I am your neighbor in Anderson SC and have an April 14th cruise planned on the Fascination. Did you drive down the day before or day of the cruise?

Hey neighbor! We drove down the day of the cruise. We left about 5:30 in the morning, stopped into Chick Fil A and ate breakfast and were still on board by about 12:30 :D And the room was ready ;)

Awesome review with pictures!! Thank you so much for taking the time to post all of the pictures, tips and comments!! We sail on her in 2 1/2 weeks and I am more excited now than I was when I booked. I have sailed on her several times before but I can't help but going back to her because of Jacksonville port (We Love it) and also because of the Fantasy class ship. I have also sailed on RCL and I have to say, CCL holds a special place in my cruising heart. You just can't beat the CCL.

Jacksonville port was easy to navigate and we really liked it. I can see us returning next year ;);) You are going to have a BLAST!

  9. OP, You have shared with us an awesome review and photos like I have never seen of this trip here, top professional. What a great trip. I would love to take this one and am a fan of the smaller ships..now everything about them is a special "history of Carnival" and if the crew is happy on them..the service is better..of course I am comparing 1 Spirit class and one Fantasy class...but..I think there are neat views out to the sea from them too it you are in an inside,,,loved those tables you found..loved your tips and writing style...it all was a big happiness shot in the arm..to take pictures like you do and upload..this is my goal..much love to woman in loss too..been doing that with mom and somehow just keeping posting here...eases the cruise we did not take....and keeps her spirit close..it makes us appreciate our times...

OP have a great time of on the Liberty...Sarah

Awwee thank you so very much for your very kind comments :) I am so sorry for the loss of your mother :(

Thanks for the review. DW and I have sailed Fascination 5 times, twice last year, and she has a special feeling for us. There is something about Fantasy class ships that can't be duplicated with the larger ships. Our favorite CCL ship is still the Liberty (sailed 2 times). Love the decor and the best staff out of all our cruises, not that the others have been bad.

I am confident that you and your family will enjoy your cruise on Liberty.

I can't tell you how happy I am to hear your comments about Liberty - I had no idea what wonderful reviews Liberty had until after booking and, like I said before, this was a decision well made. We are SO excited about it!

  10. We will be on Fascination in 27 days! We have sailed three other Fantasy class ships but never Fascination. Your review was excellent and your pictures stunning. Thank you so much for taking the time. Couple of questions.

Was the water from the tap in the room also bad? I have seen this bad water comment in several reviews about Fascination and have never had an issue on any other ship.

Where is that dessert sushi? It is beautiful and I have never seen it before.

Thanks again for the great review.

I am confident you will have a wonderful time! Thanks for the kind words about the review - I took my tablet with me and took notes along the way so I wouldn't forget everything but even with all that, putting it all together and uploading the pictures takes a while. I am happy you enjoyed reading it :D

To answer your questions: The water in the room was just as bad. I only enjoyed the water in the MDR. The dessert sushi was in the Coconut Grill (buffet) area. It is beautiful!

  11. Awesome review!!! I love the format, tips, and pictures. The foodies must be going crazy over your food shots.

We managed to sneak in an extra family cruise for this summer and we will be on the Fascination in June. We sailed her sister ship, the Sensation, a few years ago, and I must say it was one of my favorite ships. Smaller and less crowded, yet offering just about all the amenities of a larger ship.

I know how time consuming these detailed picture reviews can, and I cannot thank your enough for you efforts!!!

Thanks for the kind words, everyone :) It did take a long time but I loved reading everyone's reviews so I thought I would "pay it forward" so to speak. Ahh, the food pictures. I can't tell you how many times I felt like people were looking at me like I was a tool taking pictures of all of the food. A man at dinner even leaned over from another table to ask him if I work for a magazine :p Yeah, that's it! That should be my cover from now on, LOL.

Love your review and the pictures are amazing. We are going on fascination May 29 I can't wait your pictures got me even more excited.

Thanks! You are going to have such an amazing time! This was an amazing ship with an amazing crew!

  12. I loved your pictures! What kind of camera do you use? Mine broke while on the Fascination in November....that was my 4th time on that ship...I love it! The window seats in that class of ship are my favorite spot. We have never stopped at the Navy Pier .. out of all the 5 times we have stopped their it has always been at the one right close to Mallory Square. My husband died of a massive heart attack at work in September....we had our platinum cruise booked on the Fascination in November 2013 ... after alot of time trying to decide what the right thing to do was...I went on the cruise...I knew he would be furious if I gave up the chance to be platinum.

Your pictures brought a smile to my face tonight:)

I am so sorry to hear about your loss :( Time with our loved ones is so valuable - we just never know when that last day will be. Again, I am sorry to hear about your loss.

The camera I use is a Nikon D3200 and it's fairly new - I am still learning the ins and outs of it. Thanks for taking the time to scroll through...I realize it was looooong LOL.
