  2. Ship - Allure

    Deck - 10

    Stateroom # 10616

    Stateroom Category - D6

Starboard or Port Side - Starboard

Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) - YES

Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - No

Balcony View - Give comments on view, noting if location of any obstructions was an issue - Nice view. No obstructions. No lifeboats blocking the view, even though there was a lifeboat all the way down.

Balcony size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? - No

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - n/a

Any specific problems with this cabin? - No

Any other comments? - Love this room and have already booked it for my cruise next year. I loved the bed by the balcony as on this ship, each room has it staggered (bed by closet, bed by balcony, etc). I felt this made the room feel larger and certainly gave room by bathroom and getting dressed. It was a bit of a walk to the elevators but not terrible. Very quiet location!

  3. There is a spot on Cruise Critic where you can find reviews of individual cabins by people that had the cabin. Not sure if it's 100% of every cabin on board but there are enough reviews by class if cabin to give you a good idea.

Do you know what that board is called? I'd be very interested to hear about cabin 9572 on Allure of the Seas? Too close to the elevator re noise? Any obstructions, etc. Bed by balcony? Thank you.

  5. I would disagree with this. We had side by side balconies on Allure so one had the bed by the balcony the other by the closet. The one by the closet definitely felt larger to us as the balcony felt more an extension of the cabin. If you have the bed put together I would say by the closet is better, however if they are separated it makes the space by the closet much too tight. Therefore with beds split go for the beds by the balcony. Of course that is our opinion, yours or others may differ.

You make a very good point. I've always traveled in a D Category on RCCL (Superior Ocean View with Balcony) so got used to the room by the sofa in the front of the cabin by the bathroom and closet when you're getting ready for dinner. Those cabins appear to be bigger than those on the Allure/Oasis. It seems awfully tight if the bed is right there. When I'm on, I'll peek at other rooms so I'll know for next time.

  6. Unless you're on a transatlantic where the ship is pointed the same direction for days at a time, the side of the ship is a crapshoot. You never know which side will face the dock. I just pick whichever side has the stateroom I want more.

Yes, I agree. This time they had desirable staterooms on both sides and I was worried the west facing balcony would be too hot in the afternoon to enjoy it.

  7. When we sail in a Jr. Suite we prefer to have the sofa by the window in stead of against the wall and its easy to move. This way if it is too windy, rainy or even too hot we can still enjoy the view in the comfort of our own cabin.

Of course this only works if the beds are near the closet.

Well, the only time I was in a Junior suite was on a four night trip to Cozumel. I'm afraid the budget does not allow it for this particular trip!

  8. I'm surprized that anyone at RCI even has a clue what you are referring to when you ask. I see you questions have already been answered in above posts.

You are correct. The first person I spoke to was totally incorrect!! Having the bed by the closet really makes that room feel even smaller! I had to do the same research for the NCL Epic, although their deck plan shows the bed locations much more easily.

  9. I don't think side of the ship matters....I like being able to sit on the balcony in the afternoon...and if it's sunny, then it's HOT! (When the sun is low in the sky is when you'll get the full brunt of the sun's heat!)

Yes, I agree. I've done Mediterranean cruises past two years and enjoyed the sun on the balcony in the afternoon as it was not that hot, but in the Caribbean, a shady balcony most of the afternoons might be preferable in order to sit comfortably. Just read that Port side on Oasis is smoking side but hopefully Deck 10 is far enough away from the smoke.

  10. We are currently onboard the Oasis! Just wanted to share some quick things. No honey stung chicken or even a substitute in windjammer. No limes onboard. We have the premium package and we were able to get bottles of water and drinks at the same time. We did not have to wait twenty minutes to order in between. First night specialty restaurants are twenty percent off. Trying to remember what I can right now. I will be doing a full review once back next week! If anyone has questions or wants me to check certain things out just post on here. Bon voyage!

This is a long shot, but could you check if cabin 10182 has the bed by the balcony or the hallway door? Thanks so much!

  11. Last May we sailed on the Serenade of the Seas from Barcelona and as we were dining in Chops sailing from Cannes to Livorno we could see land. So for our cruise on Liberty Oct. 2014 we have booked a Port side balcony cabin just in case we are this close again!

I did that exact same cruise last Sept - was fabulous! I had a cabin on the left side ("port" side) (which has nothing to do with the actual ports you are pulling in to.) I don't know what the other person was referring to, but when you awake in each port (if your ship pulled in on a certain direction) some of the ports are STUNNING! Marseilles and Nice was just amazing! All the huge yachts are all around you as is the thousands of homes on the cliffs. Was lucky on that one. Also had the late afternoon sun as well. Just perfect.

Now I'm booked on NCL for the Western Med which travels in the opposite direction and can't decide whether to go starboard or port side! Enjoy!!!
