  1. Good morning,

Just off FOS and had a great time. Our first time sailing this ship and would sail again. Cabin 6378 is a delight. This room had a balcony and a LARGE fold out couch that could easily sleep two smaller individuals if needed. Great location on on the ship, very quiet and no noise from the Promenade below. Staff at the RBar on deck 5 wonderful. No problem getting pool chairs on beach days. In the Casino the Wheel of Fortune slot machines were pretty generous !! Got to Pier 29 around 11:00 and no problem getting on. Rooms were open around 1:00. Food............some good days and some not so good in the main dining room. The good days outnumbered the bad though. In Grand Cayman we did the Stingray City/Sandbar excursion that I booked through RC. I would recommend this tour. Met at pier and shuttled to boat. Boat ride was about 20 minutes out to the sandbar. We were at the sandbar about an hour. The boat sells soft drinks, beer and liquor if you desire. It was Marineland Tours. Went to Mr. Sanchos in Cozumel and had wonderful service from Hector. Two of our party went parasailing but most of us just sat on the beach and had Hector bring food and drinks all day. We did the all inclusive for around $55.00 I believe. Massages there were $30 for 20 minutes. If you want to do a beach massage wait until the next day when you get to Costa Maya at Mahahaul Beach. They are $20 for and hour. The Costa Maya port is new and really nice if you want to hang out there. Step outside the port area and grab a taxi for $2.00 PP to Mahahaul for a true Mexican feel. We went to the Krazy Lobster and hung out there. KEEP IN MIND all of these beach clubs YaYa, Tropicante etc. are all right side by side. It is hard to tell where one ends and one stops so any of them would work . We did receive good service and food from the Krazy Lobster though. Coast Maya was our favorite port. I will be happy to address any questions if you have any. Happy Sailing !!!!

  2. Blue Kay charged $5 per person to use loungers but that included a free drink that was why I was surprised they tried to charge $8 for two cokes until I questioned it. Other than that it was a great place to relax and enjoy the beach and the staff were very friendly.

Nacional was nice and the entertainment staff from the Getaway were there when we were having lunch. The food was pretty good, drinks were pricey but they were very good. My pina colada was made with real pineapple.

The beach there was nice and loungers spread out the water was clear near the beach but then a lot of sea grass like much of that area. I had emailed them before our trip to see if we could rent loungers, have lunch without package but didn't get a reply but there restaurant is open to anyone but is small so not good if you are a group but for a couple looking for a quite place it was great.

Blue Kay really was the best spot we saw for a wide beach and water clear of sea grass. I was also concerned about sargasso seaweed that had been so bad on the coast two years ago but happily saw very little.

Quick question.......when I go to the web page for Blue Kay it states it is $350.00 for a day pass. I am confused????

  3. Hey, guys! We will be in Costa Maya the 2nd of March and I am looking for beach options. We waited too late and cannot get in Maya Chan or YaYa's. We have decided just to wing it and visit Mahahual Beach/Town. I have heard things about Krazy Lobster, Blue Kay etc. My research leads me to believe that one can use a "chair, facilities etc" at a lot of these places just by ordering food and drink. If that is the case, I would love suggestions on places you may have visited and what stretch of this area might be more desirable than others. By desirable, I mean clean blue water with no rocks, good service and nice hammocks, chairs, swings etc !!! I am also open to all inclusive suggestions if you have any. Thanks !

  4. I googled it but only got info from 2013 so I was wondering if anyone that has been on Glory recently can give me any insight. Thanks!

Just off Glory a few weeks ago. Yes, there were times when they set up a chocolate bar. I believe it was listed in the Fun Times as to when and where. Don't have an opinion because I never went.

  5. One thing no one has mentioned doesn't even have to do with Faster to the Fun.........If you have individuals registered in one room and staying in another it causes for a bit of confusion when trying to get in and out of your cabin. The sons card and the MIL's card will not open the cabin they are staying in!! We just did this for the Cheers package a couple of weeks ago and it was a bit of a hassle !!!!!

  6. Great to hear you had a good time, I have a few questions

how was the cruise director? Some say they really liked him what did you think?

did you happen to notice the band playing by the casino? What kind if music did they play?

Did you notice if they still offer the match play for the casino on certain drinks?

The cruise director Everson (his last name) was great. We liked him fine. He will sing over the loud speaker at times and I had read that it annoyed some people. We thought he was entertaining. I still however am trying to figure out when he slept!! The band by the casino was very good. My husband is a musician himself and is usually very picky. I believe the name was The Regulators with female lead singer. they played a wide variety of music and dressed according to the era of music they were playing. Motown, disco. 70 & 80 rock n roll. It was a good variety. Yes they still offer match plays for on the Classic Cocktail menu.

  7. Did you notice if they had Monday Night Football on in the sports bar? The Packers are playing when we will be on the ship and we would like to try to catch the game.

The EA Sports bar did have Sunday, Monday and Thursday football. Unfortunately for me I saw the Packers beat my Carolina Panthers while on board.

  8. Which nights of the itinerary were elegant nights? And does anyone know if they are the same two nights on the Western itinerary? Thanks for all the info about the Glory!

Elegant nights were first sea day which was Monday for us. Second one was Thursday after Grand Turk.

  9. A few other questions , tell me about American Table. Food quality ? Differences between the MDR on other ships and the American Table ones. What was on the menu for the two formal nights ? Did you ever do the $20 up charge for a item from the steakhouse menu but served in the MDR ? Thanks !

I thought some things were better and some not. They had a few items that were listed every night in addition to new items earn night. There is always a dish considered rare find. One night it was rabbit. These items were a little out of the norm. Two folks in my party thought the quality was not as good but I didn't necessarily think so. The first formal night was the best meal I had on the ship. It was a filet, lobster, really good broccoli and a really good rice. I believe the second night was filet again but no lobster. Some entrees came with sides and some did not. We had made reservations in the steakhouse one night however we did not make it due to our schedule. We did order the surf & turf steakhouse upgrade for $20 and I honestly did not think it was ant better than I had eaten on elegant night. If I had a do-over I would definitely do the steakhouse just for the experience .

  10. The pool, the slides, hot tubs, Serenity section for naps, BINGO, movies on big screen, dance lessons and dance parties on the lido deck, putt-putt, basketball, volleyball, corn hole bean bag toss, a few shops on deck 5, arcade, play station in the EA Sports Bar, trivia games located right by the casino, SEA DAY BRUNCH yum!! Tip: if you order the steak and eggs the eggs are served over easy unless you request otherwise.

Bit o fun this was for you!!

  11. My sister and I are going on the Glory 4/25/15, also on the western route. We have also planned excursions at each port. Hope you'll be writing a review of your cruise! Anxious to hear all about it...

  12. Thanks for your review ! We will be on the Glory in April 2015. One question , do you happen to remember in the casino if they have the automated blackjack tables ? Not the video game where you play by your self, but at a table with other people and a monitor for each player. They had this on the Liberty , and I enjoyed it !

I'm sorry, I did not notice.

  13. Thanks for the review. I leave for the Glory on Amtrak next sunday. Get to Miami on Thursday and have two days till i get on Sat. We are doing the eastern as well. Can't wait! How was the Karaoke?

We were really disappointed because the Karoke machine was broken or so they said. We really enjoy karaoke just to hear the bad singers!!LOL. My husband is a real vocalist but I sometimes have a hard time getting him to participate.

  14. OP why don't you like the skylift in St. Thomas? We are going to be there in January when im on the Valor and we are going to do it. We heard great things about it.

When I stepped off the boat I was headed straight to the Skylift. It too was on my list of to-dos. However, we were approached by a couple of individuals offering the tours. The gentleman first quoted $25 per person but I countered with $20 and he accepted. I believe the skylift was in that range as well. In person the skylift did not appear to go that high and appeared there might be a limited view. I do know there is a restaurant and such at top and it may be fine. BUT the views and stops we saw for the same price were incredible!!!!

  15. Hi,

Thank you for the quickie review; What do you mean no tablecloths? In the dining room? thanks

    Ellen

Glory was one of the ships that has been experimenting with the "American Table" theme and a little different menu. Some folks have been really disturbed that they took away the tablecloths except on elegant night!

  16. 1) Edd Rocks we enjoyed him

    2) some nights yes

    3) never tried it open on very limited hours

    4) Not too bad; I saw $5, $6, $10 and I'm pretty sure I saw a $100

    5) Guys was good no line at all when we went it was about 3:00 on our last Sea day

  17. Continued.....after our CITY TOUR we had lunch and shopping in town. In San Juan (we loved) we did a CITY TOUR again. Again, stops for beverages, shopping and picture taking. After that we visited the Forts. Not much of a history buff but the view is to die for!!! Lunch and more shopping. The ship was clean, staff courteous and Carnival did not disappoint. Make a point to visit Tuty at the aft bar by the adult pool. She was a joy! If you have any questions feel free to ask !!!!!!! .......we flew to Miami and took the MetroRail from the airport straight to our hotel for $2.35 Per Person! We did not eat at the steakhouse, however, we did spend the $20 one night for the steak and lobster. It was no better than what we normally would have received. If I had a do-over I would have gone to the steakhouse!

  18. Just sailed Glory 10/18/14 on the Eastern Carribean route. Don't have time for a lengthy review, however, I will hit the highlights. There were 5 of us on the cruise ages 55,53,28,25 & 19. We stayed pre-cruise at the Hampton Inn- Brickell. Everything there was great except we were a little disappointed in the breakfast buffet. I had read mixed reviews on this. We embarked in Miami and it was smooth as silk. We did purchase Faster to the Fun, however. I know this is a very debatable topic but our family thinks it is worth every penny!:D We were asked to complete the EBOLA questionaire and it took longer to find a pen than it did to fill out the form. Have a pen handy!!!! We were on the ship around 12:00. We were in our room in no time and luggage arrived shortly thereafter. THE FOOD: We did not miss the tablecloths, loved the water being on the table and service was excellent. We did have Anytime Dining and received a beeper one night and the wait was about 10 minutes. We usually went to dinner around 7:15. Weather was great the entire cruise. Half Moon Cay was a beach day for us. Beautiful place, however, I was not as impressed with the lunch as I was at CoCo Cay. In Grand Turk we did the pool and FLOW RIDER at Margaritaville and then walked down the beach to Jack's Shack. Yes, we saw Topher in the flesh! Nice little shopping area there as soon as you get off the ship. In St. Thomas as soon as you get off the ship there is a small shopping area. After that there are taxis and City Tours ready to go. For $20.00 per person (he asked for $25.00) we saw the city as we never would have if we had stayed in town. You will have several quick stops for beverages, shopping and beautiful scenery. I would do this anyday over the SKYLIFT that rides to the top and back for $22. Continued..........

  19. I will be cruising with two 12 year olds and am curious as to what they might use their sign and sails cards for other than the arcade. Any ideas what kids that age might want to purchase and charge?

THE INTERNET CAFE AND THEIR CELL PHONES IF THEY HAVE ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got a whopping $400 bill when I checked out from my 19 year old son who knows better. Yes, it was totally my fault for not putting a limit on it !!!!!!!
