Did mine at about 4pm twice, was not a problem. Both were days that we pulled out of port about 5:00. Sea days it looked packed with a lot of people waiting.

When we want a photo and see another couple with a camera on an excursion I ask if the would mind taking one and say I would be happy to take their photo too. Nobody has ever declined. We have had great photos taken on deck by crew members

I have had them do laundry with no issue. Mostly socks, undies and shirts. I recall around $3 per item for those.

We just got off the Star last week and were able to walk to the door at Manfredi’s and get seated a couple times. 12 night cruise, and heard that the last 2 nights were fully booked for that and Chef’s Table so book early when you board.

Last night on board had one of the best pumpkin pies I have ever tasted. And I’m a pumpkin addict!

Spa rules sign said swim attire required at all times. Took that more of a no nudity rule than anything. Never saw anyone (men or women) with a shirt on in any part of the spa.

They know when you are seated, but if you ask for a wine list when you sit it triggers them again. At the bars and buffet you will have to remind them of your cabin # for their accounting. It was never a problem.

Last night I had what was in my opinion one the best pumpkin pies, and a great carrot cake, in the World Cafe on the Star.

I am told by Viking you can use your OBC for the Silver Spirits as long as you buy the package once you board, but not if you buy it in advance.

We have done the Silver Spirits and thought it was well worth it. Upgraded wines, cocktails and "whenever" drinks, plus the staff really seems to spoil you a bit more when you have it.

Thanks for all the great replies! I'm thinking go for it on the gondola- AND a water taxi/ motor boat tour one day during the extension.

We are on the Med Odyssey cruise in October and I'm looking at the private gondola excursion through Viking. It is definitely more expensive than going on our own, but I'm thinking that they will have gondolas set up for us, without having to search one out or wait. I have really thought about doing it ourselves during our Venice extension, but have read countless reviews online about the gondoliers really shorting the time that was paid for and people have had no recourse. I would like to get a nice ride, and I'm hoping Viking's selected gondoliers won't short me. I'm willing to pay extra through Viking to get a better experience. Has anyone done the excursion, or gotten a gondola on their own, to give me their 2 cents before I book our excursions this weekend. Thanks for your input!

We just returned from a river cruise with the Silver Spirits and lived it, so taking it in our two upcoming Viking Ocean cruises. It was great to have the option of different wines for me, and my husband enjoyed the martinis and other spirits. Well worth it in my opinion.

CEV426, there was a themed dinner last night. A man had a herring station set up wth his son while we were in Ghent, and he had samples for a few hours. The theme dinner was a buffet and the brought out an appetizer plate first with the buffet items to taste before going up. However, it was not well explained and some people just went up before they seemed to be ready. But in the end all was well.

We will visit Keukenhof on Tuesday. They say that the flowers are beginning to bloom, and will be in peak state in about 2 weeks so you should be good. Weather has been mostly sunny and upper 60s. Today is a bit cooler in the 50s. No themed nights, but everything has been delicious!

We are mid-cruise and Viking is wonderful, as expected. The crew is attentive and helpful. Took the silver spirits package and have tried many great wines! The bartenders are great at finding new wines to try. The weather has been near perfect with only light rain one morning.
Tours have been good. Wish the tour at the palace was a bit longer, we lost a good half hour before entering the palace so people could have a bathroom break. I wish we could have just headed in on our own - once we got to the building the guide left us and said he could not enter with us. There are potties just inside the doors. So get your ticket for the guide and head down the path on your own.
The outdoor museum in Arnhem is really nice, a good excursion. Hoorn is a great town! Loved walking around there and it is a walk off port so easy to do. The home hosted visit was surprisingly nice, had a great fairly young couple and enjoyed their company.
The flowers are beginning to bloom and should be amazing over the next few weeks. So glad to be here, and excited for upcoming ocean cruises we have booked, for more great Viking service.
