I know for sure (because we just this week went through this).  We wanted to book a specific cruise (only one that matched everyone's work/school schedules) for summer family reunion requiring 4 staterooms.  Not enough availability in Princess for all, so we thought we'd book 2 Princess and 2 Queens--and "dine down" to Princess Grills.  Nope.  Only option was to all  "dine down" to the Britannia Dining Room.  So ended up with 4 Queens Grills rooms.  And everyone will have a really good time.

We ended up booking 1 Princess Grill on the way out for 2 and two Queens Grills on the way back for 4 of us. That's simpler. However, I think the only 2 available adjoining suites do not connect via the balcony 😨 11128 and 11130 can anyone confirm this?

  2. To give closure to this thread: our three bags were delivered to our hotel while we were out. All's well that ends well, but it would have been nice to have clearer communications and of course ideally our bags wouldn't have been taken elsewhere.

  3. Update: apparently our bags have been located at the airport, but they don't know who will bring them to the pier or hotel and when. I'm thinking and hoping they'll be delivered to our hotel. Also hoping the other couple with lost bags get theirs, I believe they were driving to CA today and had medicines in the bags 😬.  Always keep important papers/things with you!

I have had that happen, Travel insurance with documentation from NCL is all you need.  NCL wont pay anything.

    STeve

We have isnurance but we need to wait 12 hours to file for a delayed bag, and until NCL gives up and declares our bags lost to file for lost luggage. We have our forms from NCL but hoping they'll turn up sooner or later.

Just to clarify.  Are these bags that you tagged and put outside your room the night before and then they weren't in the terminal luggage area?

Yes, we placer a total of 6 bags outside last night (2 Bedroom Villa) and three of them made it and 3 didn't. Still waiting to hear back from NCL, only helpful person has been a lady at the lost luggage desk who doesn't seems to have much information or authority. They're thinking maybe they were sent to the aiport by accident.

We’re these bags sent via Bag Valet to your destination airport?

No, we're staying overnight in Seattle, only tags were personal ID tags and the Gold/Piority tags we were given by our butler.

    Re your dining question;

I expect you would have to elect to dine in Princess Grill if you want to stay dining as a family.

A QG guest can always elect to dine in a lower category ( subject to space being available and arrangements being made via the Maitre'd)  However, I never known anyone being able to dine in higher category for a 'full length of their voyage'.

I believe this may something you'll need to manage on the day with the senior Maitre'd.

Thanks, this is what I imagined, was wondering if anyone had any experiences to see 8f maybe we could dine un Princess Grill every night except 1 or 2 night in Queens Grill.

Personally if it was me I would book 2 adjoining Princess cruise suites and save a lot of money.

I'm leaning towards this too, can't really see much difference except the priority disembarkation. Would save us about $6k each way.

  7. Thinking of booking a two way transatlantic for next year and had a question about booking my family in both the Queens Grill and Princess Grill rooms. We prefer connecting rooms but there seen to be limited options. I've seen one Queens Grill suite that connect to a Princes Grill suite and was wondering how Cunard handles that? Do all 4 of us eat at the Princess Grill or do we have to split up into 2 different restaurants? My only other option is 2 adjoining but not connecting Queen Suites or Princess Suites. Any thought and advice are welcome. Thanks!

Okay, fine.  Then let the arm chair experts help a girl out.  What is YOUR interpretation of the email.  I understand that if I test positive I will not be eligible for a refund for any related quarantine or travel expenses, but what about the actual cruise fare?????  I realize they encourage prior testing but is it a necessity for eligibility of a refund?

We strongly encourage all guests to take a COVID-19 PCR test within 72-hours prior to their sail date as an added precaution

    • If you, your family members, travelling companions or other close contacts are denied embarkation or reboarding, or are quarantined or disembarked during the voyage, due to a positive COVID-19 test or being suspected of having COVID-19, you and they are entitled to a prorated refund, or an optional Future Cruise Credit (“FCC”), for the amount paid to Norwegian in the event of denial at embarkation, or the unused portion of your fare in all other cases.

My interpretation is that if you test positive at the pier or anytime within 2 weeks of your sailing you will get a refund of your cruise cost via FCC or refund if you prefer. The testing requirement is only if you want NCL to cover any quarantine requirement costs if you test positive at the pier. In your case you don't need the extra test as you live nearby and would have no quarantine costs.

NCL does not want to be responsible for people's hotel cost for 2 weeks if they travel to Seattle while positive and then are required to be quarantined after testing positive at the pier. Makes sense to me, I'd rather know before hand anyway and quarantine at home instead of being stuck in a different city for 2 weeks.

  9. I found this article pretty interesting. “In particular, we cannot predict the impact on our financial performance and our cash flows required for cash refunds of deposits as a result of the pause in our global fleet cruise operations, which may be prolonged, and the public’s concern regarding the health and safety of travel, especially by cruise ship, and related decreases in demand for travel and cruising.”

    https://finance.yahoo.com/news/carnival-sells-8-percent-stake-173028049.html

    I also found this inane:

"We cannot predict how long the negative impact of recent media attention on our brands will last, or the level of investment that will be required to address the concerns of potential travelers through marketing and pricing actions.”

Marketing and Pricing actions? If they want me to cruise again they'd better be doing cleaning and sanitation actions, not marketing and pricing. I'd rather pay more and get a clean and safe cruise than get a deal and get sick or die.

  10. Started two charge backs today. The one for air charges I was able to do online for about $2,500.00. Ameeican Airlines canceled the flight we had paid Princess for.

The one for the cruise for about $5,000.00 I had to do over the phone with another credit card. Both were for services we paid for but didn't receive. (March 19 Coral Princess).

So now only US citizens are being held hostage.  (I haven't heard if the South Americans are off) I remember how relieved we were when we heard we were heading to Florida.  I thought we could always rent a car and drive home if no planes were flying.  Now we can't get off the ship!  Everyday they take more people away in ambulances.  I wonder if some just have stress related problems.

Glad to hear some of you are back at home or on the

You're right. We feel the same way. They have had our money for months now. They should be sending an e-mail or something out saying what they're planning to do about refunds.

Since the cruise we laid for was 2 weeks ago air didn't operate as scheduled I feel we have a valid reason for a charge back via the credit card.

  13. 22 minutes ago, dog said:

Since they cancelled they are offering you extra in FCC, right?  I would wait the 90 days before putting in a credit card dispute for that reason

Yes, offered FCC but I'm not interested in that. Just want our money back. Who even knows if Princess or Carnival will be around in the future.

  14. Has anyone actually gotten their money back? We were scheduled to sail on March 19 from Buenos Aires on Coral Princess,  they canceled a few days before and we requested a refund but have not received anyhting. I am thinking of starting a chargeback through the credit card company for the cost of the cruise and the flights.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we're not sick or dead on Coral Princess but I think we should be promptly refunded for services we paid for and did not receive.

  15. I guess all those countries that wouldn't let passengers from the Coral Princess disembark were right. I hope the people that got off in Buenos Aires didn't make too many other people sick. That being said, I hope everyone still alive on the ship makes it home OK and takes the necessary precautions to not get sick or to not get others sick.

Edited to add: looks like it's going to dock in Miami today, already in US territorial waters which means they must have permission to dock.
