  1. TC - this was your comment in your post immeditately preceeding mine:

"On Regent, it is the days that count. That is the way it was set up and they have had a lot of success with this. Why mess around with success? IMO, it isn't fair for a person that books the Regent suite for 25 nights (for instance) to be at the same level as someone that has sailed 100 nights in the lowest cabin."

My post was in response to your post. Regent is likely concerned with year over year revenue growth. Culture may indeed be important to you, but Regent will still need to grow the top and bottom line. I am not saying I disagree with the perspective that an egalitarian culture is preferable (at least for me it is) but I am not Regent's CEO or CFO.

The thing is...if you book the high level suites you get many (most) of the amenities o platinum/Titanium members anyway. The loyalty program effectively gives the greatest additional benefits to those in the lowest level suites once they attain the high number of days.

  2. There are a couple of nice solutions we've come up with over the years of Regent cruising. First thing to remember is that if you can afford to cruise with Regent, give yourself a pat on the back! If you want to take a particular flight that leaves at a great time and has efficient or no connections, consider disembarking and spending a night in the port of embarkation or near the airport, and then have a leisurely, stress free departure the next day. Another great tactic, when you have an overnight onboard in your disembarkation city, is to have a lovely day, and even dinner onboard, and departing the ship the night before everyone else disembarks. This plan works well in Asia and the Middle East. These tips involve a deviation fee if you're not Platinum or Titanium, but they allow you to end your holiday in a stress free manner - a great way to go!

I appreciate this advice, but I pretty much loathe staying in hotels and living out of a suitcase especially for just a night. When the cruise ends I just want to be home😁! Or going to another cruise😉

I am wondering if anyone has insight as to if it is doable to get to the Nice airport from Monaco port in time for an 11ish AM flight. I understand there is also helicopter service from Monaco to NCE (7 min flight time), but this may not work in stormy/windy weather. Private car should take 40min? or more?

I can't remember how "difficult" or "easy" the Nice airport is?

Any insight on this is very much appreciated.

  3. Petlover-

did you find out anymore about your Regent Explorer flights? We don't leave until 9/24 -Venice to Monte Carlo/Nice airport and have been looking up air possibilities. There's a wonderful Delta non-stop, but it leaves Nice airport at 11:30---and Regent doesn't allow flights before 12:30PM. Amazing how many airlines have flights leaving before then! Lufthansa is out because they only have 45 minutes between flights from Frankfurt and on to JFK. British Air has 9:44 PM flight, but arrives in Venice at 9:45 Pm the night before the trip and by the time you get to the Marriott, it gets quite late. Am really looking forward to our cruise, but am fearful that waiting 75 days before the date, the "good" flights will be pretty well booked. Might go with KLM as we've used them twice before and had good experiences, plus we can add those cute blue and white Delft houses to our collections.

If anyone else can jump in and add clarity to our travels, we'd appreciate it!! Will the airlines be adding more flights between now and then?

Might it be worth it to risk the 11:30am nonstop? Transfer to Nice airport is 35km...maybe 40 minutes? If you can disembark at 8AM it should work? Or am I missing something?

  4. I notice that Seabourn are offering single fares on selected cruises at approx 120 pc. I do not remember this ever before.

I will still be taking the wife though :D

Where do you see these single supplement fares? I have called Seabourn and they have to look up each cruise and do the calculation. It would be great if there were a "list" of the cruises with favorable single fares.

  5. Looking for advice [or even better an official answer from Bonnie :)]. Between one thing and another, we have a lot of OBC to use on our Azamara cruise -- and thanks to "more inclusive" many of the usual ways to spend it are already included :) We have rebooked two shore excursions that we are afraid might sell out [and paid via credit card] -- the question is whether we will be able to cancel these once on board and then rebook using the OBC?

I have the same question. With so many ship board credits it will be hard to use them unless you can cancel and reboo prepaid excursions. Otherwise, by waiting until you are onboard you risk not being able to get the excursion you want. It would be nice if you could pre-book excursions and charge them to your shipboard account which would resolve this problem.

  6. Just checking the website for the continuing itinerary from Southampton on September 9, 2016 on the Quest and nothing comes up. I am on the European Capitals cruise 10/26 - 9/9 and wanted to see about a B2B...

In fact there are no sailings shown again until Oct 26 West Indies Cruise from New Orleans!

Is it a website glitch or is something changing on the Quest sailings during this time? Any thoughts?

  7. Since you would like more time in each of the "regulat" ports, why not put 2 7 day cruises together. B2B Vancouver-Seward/Seward-Vancouver may work for you. I did this and it worked well, allowing you to do different excursions in each port each week. You also get the chance for different weather in each port😉 Our first week was 50's and rainy and the second week was 70's and sunny. It gives you completely different views of the glaciers as well with the different lighting. You are kind of left on your own in Seward, but it is a lovely town and has a great aquarium.

  8. I am Titanium with Regent, and approaching 100 days with other lines. This year I received birthday cards from Seabourn, SilverSea, and Sea Dream (included a 10% cruise discount as a gift) but nothing from Regent.;(!

Oh...And when Regent does send me "personalized" emails they are addressed to James ;( (not my name)...

  9. Having been on lots of ocean cruises, I am trying the Mississippi Queen. I am wondering about the amenities in the rooms such as shampoos (brand) etc and more importantly bathrobes...do they provide bathrobes in the staterooms? Thank you for any info.

  10. Your numbers are a bit high -- it is closer to $1K - 3K per person per day (still not cheap:-) Regent does tend to book desirable itineraries 18+ months in advance. Sometimes it is difficult to realize that people can purchase a car for the price of a luxury cruise. If we thought about that fact, we would never cruise.:D

Maiden voyage 14 days at $70Kpp and next cruise is $50K pp for 10 days equals $5K pp/day!! This is definitely new territory price wise.
