  1. Just following up on this thread. Did majesty end up having a nursery on board?? We are traveling with an 18m old on majesty in two weeks. Can't seem to figure this out!

Ugh, I can't remember! We had no intentions of using it so I'm just not sure. I think so but am not 100%. I know they had the toys you can check out, we did a couple different bags throughout the 4 days, it's free and it was great to have new toys for our 15 month old. They also had an area just outside of adventure ocean where they put infant/toddler toys out each day and she really liked that too. I am just not certain on if there was a drop off. They have open house the first day so you can go check. Wish I could be more help!

  2. We have always requested one on our reservation but we've never had them actually bring it to our room on board without having to call housekeeping and ask for it. It's never been a problem but mentioning it so you don't worry if you get to your room and it's not there. They also do provide some bedding but it isn't the proper fitted sheet so we always bring our own (plus I think it helps them adjust to have a blanket and stuff from home).

  3. Is the area where the beach bungalows located limited to the 6 people. We are a bigger group going and I ma thinking of getting the bungalow as my husband cant be in the sun. But will the rest of the group be able to come and go in that area, limiting to 6 people at a time? If we booked two of them are they close enough to each other?

Yes, you can only have 6 people in the area, per bungalow/beach bed. They wristband you when you turn in your ticket so you can't change out the 6 people there. They are definitely close enough that if you book 2, you could all hang out together.

  4. How did Travelynx end up working for you??

Perfect, no complaints at all. The driver was 5 minutes early picking us up and got us to the port on-time and safely. On the way back, we had a shared shuttle with them (that's the only way they do it from the port) and it worked fine. We had to wait about 20 minutes but they are running shuttles regularly so we didn't see it as a big deal. They dropped off those going to the airport first and then took us to our hotel. I would say it took about an hour. Drivers were courteous and safe and the vehicles were in good condition. Would book with them again.

  5. The curtains do untie and they do cover across the sides but if it's a breezy day, you may have trouble getting then to stay in place. It was breezy the day we were there (which was great) so the curtains didn't stay in place. However, at the time we were there (10-2 or so), the shade from the roof was plenty as the sun was high in the sky so the sides being open wasn't an issue.

  6. Thank you for the review! We recently went on the 3 day to the Bahamas on the Enchantment. I had a hard time choosing between The Enchantment and The Majesty for our cruise in November. I went with The Majesty so we can have a day in Orlando before cruising. We are diamond members and have been on the Majesty a few times. I have two concerns I hope you can help me with answers. I have read many reviews that is a party cruise and I worry about the crowds and rowdy folks. Did you have any issues with the crowds being out of control? Also can you tell me anything about the renovations the pool deck?

We chose the Majesty because we wanted to do a couple of days at Disney, so I understand. I would say you can tell the difference between the clientele on a 7 day vs. a 4 day but having done short cruises on Enchantment and Majesty in the past, it seemed pretty typical of a short cruise. I didn't feel it was a "party ship" but then again, we were also back in the room about 8pm each night as we have young kids. Therefore, I can't speak to what the late-night crowd was like. During the day though, all seemed pretty typical. We never felt unsafe or thought anyone was inappropriate. Didn't have to cover the kids eyes or anything. :)

The pool deck is definitely different. There are technically still 2 pools but I would say there is a "main pool" which I don't think changed and then there is a walkway that connects the two sides of the deck, followed by a couple of hot tubs and then the kids water area (Splashaway Bay), which there are 2 separate sides of. After that, there is another much smaller pool. The bar is down by the main pool. The other end has the movie screen. We took the kids to Splashaway Bay twice so I'd be happy to give you more details about it. You didn't mention kids so I'll spare you the details unless you'd like them, then I'm happy to share. The smoking section is a lot bigger than you'd expect as it basically encompasses the entire one side (starboard I believe). We made the mistake of sitting on that side once and despite all of the smoking containers being confined to a small area, you are permitted to smoke anywhere along the wood railing (which is most of that side) - we asked someone on the pool staff. The BBQ area is on the port side. They supposedly added "family hot tubs" but I didn't bother to read the signs to see which were which (nor did I get in a hot tub at any point) and I have no idea what the difference would be.

Oh, they also updated the lounge chairs - but not the upright ones along the sides, those are still the old style.

Hope that helps - let me know of other questions.

  7. Did you have to pay for everyone or just one person? We are going in February. I am alright paying $125, but $250 seems a little steep for 2 of us.

Are you referring to the beach bed? If so, only one person needs to reserve it and it's good for up to 6 people. You'll get a single ticket in your stateroom but when you arrive at the beach area, you give them the ticket and they ask who is in your party and they wristband each person, up to 6. You don't even all have to be on the same reservation.

  8. Last time we went to Blue Lagoon the water was only 6 inches deep. What a disappointing day. If Balmoral is the beach next to Sandler, it is beautiful. Aqua blue water and nice sittings

Wow, that's crazy, we've been 3 times, never had it be that shallow. It starts out like that but gets to above my waist out as you walk out further. I guess I prefer it more on the shallow side as I just want to hang out in the water and it's a great depth for kids. I know they have snorkeling so there must be a deeper area on the other side for that.

  9. This is what I was thinking, I was just hearing from so many that we were wasting out money. We're hoping to make cruising an annual vacation, so they will get their use out of the passport. Now the challenge will be to find a location that does passports on Saturday morning when the 4 of us can go!

We just had to do this earlier this year for our then 10 month old. Lots of post offices have Saturday hours for passport acceptance. Check https://iafdb.travel.state.gov/ for locations. Call early as those Saturday appts. fill up fast. When I called, they were scheduling 2 months out where we live.

  10. Not going to tell you what to do but we have two kids - 4 and 1 and as soon as we had our first cruise booked for each kid, they got passports. They are good for 5 years and we travel every 18 months or so. My thought was you can't put a price on peace of mind if something happens on a cruise and you need to fly home. There are all sorts of stories of people needing to head home mid-cruise - medical reasons, family emergencies or deaths back home, etc. In the event of something happening, the last thing I want to do is be worried about trying to get proper IDs, paperwork, etc. together to get home.

I also figured it was good to have an official form of ID as most of the time, you don't get an official picture ID until you're of driving age. I've used their passports other times (opening bank accounts, etc.) and it's been nice to have.

Ultimately, it's a personal decision but to those saying it's a waste of money, well, it's my money to waste. To each their own...

  11. Just booked the bungalow. How do I add my guests? I want to include two guests from a separate reservation.

You actually don't need to. They will deliver one ticket to your stateroom and when you check in at that area, they will ask how many people and then they give wristbands to whoever you have with you. As long as it's 6 or less, you're fine.

  12. We were on the sailing after yours, totally opposite experience. Ship was clean and yes she is showing her age, but we have sailed Sovereign class before and knew what to expect. It was a "filler" cruise for us between Freedom and Oasis.

We were on this cruise as well (9/26) and I would agree, totally opposite experience.

Sure, the ship shows her age a bit but you could see it had been updated recently. I can only speak for our room but it had definitely been updated with new carpet, furnishings, etc. since the last time we were on her in 2011. As someone else said, maintaining a cruise ship is a constant thing - there were guys painting the outside of the ship near the anchor when we were in port. If the public areas were dirty, I sure didn't see it. For a 4 nighter at a great price, it was perfect. Definitely have to have appropriate expectations - she's no Oasis/Allure or even Freedom or Navigator as far as amenities, etc. but we didn't have any major issues at all.

  13. A little confused. You are paying for the clamshell. 2 loungers fit inside. You can get as many loungers as you want. They are free. Beach beds to not provide any shade if you need that. I don't think I would waste $195 on one.

The beach beds on Coco Cay do provide shade - they are covered and also have curtains tied to the corners that you can un-do. They also come with two regular loungers if you want to sit in the sun. Transportation and 4 liters of water are included. We just did this a couple of weeks ago and it was worth every penny - the cost at the time was $150, I don't think it has changed. They allow you to have up to 6 people at that one price but you could probably only have about 4 in the shade comfortably at any one time.

  14. I was surprised to see there were A LOT of people that were already checked in when we got there. In previous cruises, when arriving at 10:30, it's not that busy. However, despite the number of people, there were no lines, check-in was super fast and they were well-staffed.

We barely sat down when they started boarding, it was great.

    Enjoy your cruise!

  15. We just did this last week. The beach bungalows and beach beds are located next to each other on South Beach. There are two rows of them but they have them staggered so even in the back, you have a view. We had a front row beach bed and it was perfect for us and our two small kids. It was $75 less than the bungalow and the only difference was the beach beds don't get the fruit plate. Both had 4 liters of water, both had loungers, the bar was in between them and they brought lunch to both as well. We would definitely do it again!

  16. I had trouble finding reviews on CC myself. I did find reviews on other websites and it was about a 30/70 good/bad split. The negative reviews were consistent that the island just wasn't ready yet.

We were interested because we had done Blue Lagoon a few times and thought a change might be good but after reading the reviews, we stuck with Blue Lagoon (which also does have lunch). We liked that Pearl Island would have been longer since I always feel like I wish Blue Lagoon was longer but just decided not to take the chance. We might check it out next time.

  17. I looked into these as well as we were just in Nassau last week. The pictures and website for Pearl Island look great but I saw quite a few negative reviews saying that the area is just not ready yet. I've read that the pool isn't complete and there is a lot of construction still happening. I guess it depends on when you are going - sounds like it will be nice but it's not there yet.

Blue Lagoon we've done 3 times now and it's great. The only negative is that I wish it was a longer stay. The boat ride over is nice but they do may a quick stop at Margaritaville to pick up a few more passengers. We got to the Island about 10:40-10:45. They are doing some work on one of the docks so there is some construction there too but if you go left off the dock, you can easily get away from it. There is an Aqua Park, a games area and also snorkeling. We also took the kids over to watch the dolphins swim. The beach itself is beautiful and there are plenty of loungers. The water is clear and shallow - perfect for our 4 and 1 year olds. The boat left at 2 to take us back and we got back about 2:30pm.

  18. Coco Cay has the Aqua Park that would probably be a great fit for your kids. It may look easy but trust me, it's not. It's a lot of fun but also challenging so your kids would probably love it.

At Nassau, we did Blue Lagoon Island a few times and there is a lot to offer. They have snorkeling and there is also a games area and another Aqua Park there as well.

  19. No, we did not get an email about boarding by deck. I got one last year on Navigator but not this time.

Our beach bed was on South Beach right next to the bungalows. It was a large bed on a wood frame with four wood posts and white curtains tied to each post that you could un-tie for shade or privacy. There was a bamboo-style roof. The bed itself was 4 large, white cushions that were sort of wedged together in the frame and it slanted up at the head. The material of the cushions was great because the sand brushed right off. There were also 2 floating beach mats and 2 loungers included.
