Thanks to both of you-appreciate it! Right now leaning toward the car rental, but will keep my options, and mind, open. :);)
One thing you should remember is that if you are an American citizen you will not be able to drive a rental vehicle into the US that bears Canadian license plates. This shouldn't be a major problem as I suspect lots of Seattle based rental cars are dropped of in Vancouver, but you'll need to be sure that whatever vehicle you rent has US plates on it.
The same hold true for Canadians renting a car in Seattle and driving it to Canada. It must have Canadian license plates. We ran into this a few years ago when we flew into Seattle from Toronto and had to wait for hours for a Canadian registered rental car even though we had been assured weeks in advance that "they always had lots of these" on the lot.

Pre-booked excursions can be canceled up to 24 hours before. Not sure about the other things but suspect there is a similar policy.

Is there a charge for that welcome aboard drink?
No!!

But if the cruise line doesn't think you will make your flight, they look after getting you on a later flight and it doesn't become your problem.

Here is the site that details Alaska's best roadside glaciers:

Type Alaska's best roadside glaciers in to Google. There is a good site that gives all the required details.

Since the OP is sailing from the west coast I suggest booking on the port (left)side. If you want to watch the main workings of the canal, ships coming from the other direction, more land and port views during your cruise they are all better viewed from the port side.
I agree you should move about the ship during the trip through the canal but overall I think you will be happier with a port side stateroom.

I would think the best chance to see Orcas is the first night and day 2 as you sail between Vancouver Island and the main land and through the Inside Passage.

AFAIK you can use the MDR if you want but you should also give Blu a try as well.

We did a b2b from Vancouver late May - early June. Warm sunny weather all the first week going up and rain every day coming back to Vancouver. 😕

Excellent glad to know the pizza is better on Celebrity, now one other question, are there self service laundries onboard?
Love Celebrity but never been on any of their ships that had a self service laundry.

Last time something like this happened to us it affected our hotel air and condo rental in Hawaii. We made a claim through our trip insurance and were reimbursed for our additional expenses.

If I'm not mistaken, everybody in Canada is covered by a Medicare type health coverage. I wonder what Canadian coverage is while out of the country?
Although we have a full health care system in Canada it does not cover us outside the country and, in fact, we are encouraged to purchase additional insurance when travelling to other provinces as not all provincial plans are the same. This means that something covered in BC may not be in Quebec, as an example.

International guests can't even request them by website but for Canada and perhaps UK guests sailing from the UK these guests have no option but the self-print or porter affixing them.
Although I'm not exactly sure what your saying here, just to be clear, Canadians can request luggage tags from the Celebrity website and for our last few cruises they have arrived within a couple of weeks of the request being submitted.

Just 7 days until our cruise on the Edge and 287 days until we sail out of Barcelona on the Apex.
