  1. One of our ports for MSC cruise of the Norwegian Fjords at the beginning of May has been changed to Maloy. I've trawled the Internet but can find very little information.  Has anyone experience of this port and what to do at it and can anyone advise re possible excursions? Unfortunately even MSC don't have any excursions up yet for this port!

  2. Hi - we did this cruise on the NCL Star last October/November. It was the trip of a lifetime!!

I just noticed on this thread that people dont seem particularly keen on the Puerto Chaipas stop. I have to say we had a very interesting day - we booked for the Argovia Coffee Plantation trip with NCL which is around a 1.5 hour drive up into the mountains. It was such an interesting drive through little typical Mexican villages etc to get there and the plantation and botanical gardens were beautiful. It was a bit more expensive than other excursions but judging by the experiences of people who stayed around the port area or went to Tapachula it was worth spending the extra money. We had a fantastic day!!:)

  3. Hi - Could someone please give me a bit of help. I would like to hire a car for the day we visit St Thomas. After a good deal of research it looks like the only companies who have rental desks at the docks are Avis and Budget - is this correct?

It also looks like Budget are located right at the dock, whereas Avis are at somewhere called Al Cohen Mall - does anyone know where this is and how easy/difficult would it be to get to??

I'm travelling with my parents, both of whom have limited mobility so I dont want to have to walk a long distance to get to the car, but I would really like to have our independence for this day!

  4. Hi

I believe that the day we are stopping off in St Maarten (11 November 14) is a public holiday there. Can somebody tell me is this correct? If so, what would be open, or what would be the best idea to do that day. I had originally planned to take the water taxi into the town centre, have a walk around town and then do the beach, but will all the stores be closed?

    Thanks

  5. DW and I were in St. Marteen yesterday . The water taxi is a couple of minutes walk from the ship. You clinb aboard and step down in the taxi there is crew members to help you on and off. The water taxi drops you off at the boardwalk area of town. There is a beach just after you get iff tge taxi. The cost was $5 per person.

Yes the center of town is safe as there are many shops on Front street with lots if people

Hi - Thanks for your response. This is exactly the information I needed. Although I've since discovered that the day we stop there (11 November) is a public holiday and all the stores will be closed. :(

  6. Hi - I'm hoping somebody can be a bit more specific about getting the water taxi into the centre of town. I'm planning a cruise with my parents mid November, both of whom have somewhat limited mobility. I was planning on taking an easier day on St Maarten and thought we could maybe take the water taxi into the town centre and get the two of them located on the beach so that I could take a walk around town. So just a couple of questions....

    1. Where exactly do we get the water taxi - is it a long walk after getting off the ship?

    2. Is the centre of town safe enough, that I could take a wander around the main area by myself (28 yr old female)?

    Thanks for any help!:)

  7. Hi - I was just about to post the same question as you, but I see you never got any answers. Have you been on your cruise yet and if so did you use this company?

Can anyone else tell me if they have used this company and what they thought? Their prices are a lot cheaper than other companies......

    Thanks

    :)

  8. Hi - I dont see a great deal of discussion on here about renting a car for the day on Tortola. Has anyone any thoughts or advice on this?

Driving on the left hand side of the road isnt a problem as I come from Ireland so we drive on that side anyway!

Is it relatively safe and how long would it be likely to take to see around the island?

    Thanks for any help:)

  9. We're hoping to be in Puerto Chiapas for a day in October with NCL and like other folks who have posted I've trawled the internet and I'm coming up with very little information. I dont really fancy just hanging around a beach or the local town for the day - I have to be up and doing! Would love to do the Argovia Coffee Plantation trip but at $189 its a small fortune!

Can anybody tell me if we can book independent trips with any local guides? Or if there is any other way of getting further than Tapulcho?

I hate the thought of wasting a shore day!

    Thanks
