Any idea the cost of taxi from Invergordon to Inverness? Ive tried contacting taxi companies, with no response.
Thanks!

We will be taking the June 27th cruise. We will be taking a taxi to Guinness and walking to Jameson afterwards.
If anyone would like to share a taxi, that might help on expense. :-)

Welcome home!I have a question though - 28Euros for the taxi? That seems really high from everything I'm seeing on the Ireland taxi website. I thought it'd be about 10-19Euros to the Guinness Factory which is farther away. Is that round-trip maybe? Or for a lot of people?
What did you do in Dover? The Castle?

Hello,
Thank you so much for this post. I might have more than one question.
Was the temperature warm enough for use of the pool on board? Will there be a fair amount of sun for laying by the pool?
Was the temp in most ports "shorts" worthy?
Thanks

Can bus/tram tickets be purchased with a credit card? I have the same issue as to how many pounds I should buy for my trip. Most of our cruise will be in Ireland, Scotland. Thank you

ON RCI its 18. I would expect it would be the same with Carnival.

HI,
we are arriving in early July 2017 by RCI. We already have a food walking tour in the city on day one.
I'm exhausted trying to find another tour for day two. We are looking for something that has some amount of activity, but shows us the land and history. Later we will probably go back in to town to visit a restaurant.
Any suggestions on a tour or something interesting and easy to access? Potentially interested in a whiskey tour that also includes the sights.
How likely is it, that we can get off the ship and just be able to find something to do without planning?
I am a huge planner, so I want to be prepared to be able to get there and plan to have enough in the correct currency.
Thank you

Yes, I am aware its automatically on the seapass. :-)
Thank you for the sheet with the discounts. That's exactly what I wanted to review.

Anyone have a current list of Diamond plus onboard benefits for review?
Thank you

WEll, I am sorry for this... It appears today, I accidentally picked the wrong ship! No wonder the cost was so much higher. Kicking my own butt right now!
-
Its so strange! ON tues I checked the website.
The least expensive balconies $5634. Then I called Club Royal for the discount and they quoted me $4723. (same day)
Called them again today $6515!
What in the world???

None of our cruises have gone up, including one for next March.
Thanks. Do you already have a reservation?, I was referring to new bookings, as I know current reservations cant go up.
-
I was researching prices for a cruise on tues, and they have all of a sudden gone up by 30% in just 3 days!
Is this for real? Is it just something they do on a Friday?
The cruise is in March and not yet booked, and I have 2 rooms to book. Do you think the prices will go back down?
I am at a loss, as the hike makes it unaffordable for my family.
Thanks for your input.

Hello,
This is my 2nd time on the Navigator. Let me start by saying I really love this ship. It has everything it should since the upgrades last year.
As a C&A member, getting on the ship was a breeze. We also got there fairly early, which I usually don't do. The staff was friendly.
We normally carry our luggage on. I like to have control over my stuff, and when the rooms open at 1pm, I'm good to go.
I enjoy booking the Mystery Dinner Theater. I think its a bit overpriced, but its something fun to do the first night, and a good start to meeting cruise ship buddies. The food was very good, though the Filet was tougher than it should have been. They kindly allowed me to enjoy the pink sparking wine instead of the wine they were providing,
Lets talk food: I was very happy that the meals didn't take more than an hour! I cant sit for more than an hour eating.
Windjammer is actually pretty good. Not too salty. They really have stepped up the mass production buffet. I am not a big cruise eater, but if I need to feed, the salad, and the basic proteins, are quite good. Always love the iced tea.
Dining room is fine. We only ate there 2-3 times. I'm rather bored with the menu. They could really change it up. The meat was rather tough. Just wasn't Wowed.
Our cocktail waiter Mr. Fox was very helpful and was on his game.
Izumi: Love that place. We visited twice for dinner and one for lunch as we purchased the sushi making class. Yes, I nailed it! :-) Sushi is good. Love to prepare my meat on a rock.
Sabor: Delicious! I would have eaten there again but there is so much food, and the desserts will make your tummy explode! I just couldn't allow that to happen again. :-)
Café on 5th floor. I don't care what anyone says. The thin crust pizza is the bomb! The sandwiches are flavorful, easy snack when needed.
Diamond Lounge: Always comfortable and relaxing before dinner. They could change up their bar/snack food a little (maybe fewer junk meats), but I wont complain.
Outdoor BBQ last day: No complaints. Love the chicken and ribs, and the beans.
All the staff on the ship was very nice and gracious. No complaints at all. The bartenders, the casino staff, concierge, etc. Top notch. Of course I cant say if other have the same experiences, but many times you get what you give. I respect they do this same things every week, and people can be obnoxious regularly. There will be a few employees with a short fuse. Its human nature.
Stateroom attendant was on top of everything.
Late night disco: I'm not that old, at it was just way too loud. The bass was painful to the ears and we sat in the very back. Just turn it down a few decibels!
Piano sing along: I'm not a fan of the music. I like to sing along, but it didn't appear to be a sing along. No one was singing. Just my opinion. I think the sing along should be a sing along, allowing the guests to sing a solo from time to time as well. Really getting everyone participating.
Drink package is well worth it, if you enjoy cocktails throughout your cruises.
Getting off the ship. We got off early morning, and even then the line was so long, it took about an hour to get off. Oh well, vacay is over!
Had a great time! I'm here for your questions. :-)

Thanks everyone,
You are all right! I should just be happy to be a D and get over myself.
The perks for D+ aren't that different from D, and once I am a D+, I will probably be there the rest of my life. LOL
AS for booking a short cruise. I live in southern CA. RCI doesn't have any cruises here, and the cost to fly would become too expensive.
Thanks again

Is there anyway to get the extra point we need to reach Diamond plus before our next cruise in March? Do you think if I called and begged, they may just give it to me? (or at least the perks?)
:)
Thanks

I definitely think this is a good string. Partially off topic at times and we have differences of opinion, but in the end its all about having a good time.
No matter if kids are around or not, I will have a blast.
:)

suite guests with young children threw hissy fits complaining they could not enjoy cocktail hour as the kids clubs were closed at the same time so Royal caved and began permitting children in the CL during cocktail hour.
Some people need to come to terms with sacrifice as a parent. When they are finished their job as parents then, they can and will appreciate a child-free atmosphere. In the meantime, they should be doing something else with their kids, in a kid friendly environment.

As of yesterday, the website was giving the option to book. Though I have not completed the process.
This time I did try to complete the process and it would not complete the reservation. This was the same for the Mystery dinner theater.
-
So, I called and apparently there wasn't a waiting list, but supposedly the website didn't work because I tried to book through specialty dining area of the planner instead of booking as an "onboard activity".
Uhhh, then why does the website give me the full option to book the Mystery dinner from the specialty dining area?
Then I go to book Sabor, and the website is not working for that either. Its a conspiracy, I tell ya!
FYI, for those who are trying to book it online.
The new website needs a few fixes.

Explorer has never been in Galveston. Last March it would have been Navigator. Mariner was there before NV and Voyager before Mariner.
Yes, you are right! Sorry, Im old. :-)

LOL :D
As a Diamonds in our late 20s, DW and I are accustomed to receiving some looks in the DL... but nobody has outright accused us of sneaking in (yet).
Last March, I didn't notice any looks at my family of 17/24 year old kids (D), but I think I will pay more attention this time... I find it hilarious that some people are so pretentious over a room.. :D

My first cruise with my boyfriend (now husband) in 2007, they automatically made him a diamond. All we had to do is book and show up and it was automatic. Maybe without calling and the hoopla it will just happen automatically?
More inconsistent inconsistencies. I have two adult children, one Diamond and one Platinum. They both sailed as Diamond before turning 18. When my son and his wife booked their first cruise on their own, my DIL tried to update her tier status to my son's. She was told he didn't have enough cruises and put him back to where his points were yet that wasn't the case with my daughter. She hasn't tried to upgrade her husband yet so it will be interesting to see what happens.

We have always done that in the past and then when I called today, Oregon said no more than one certificate per household per cruise. That is ridiculous as we are entitled to use or certificates for any cruise within their requirements. I wasn’t in the mood to argue and by chance my husband and I are currently in different households so I was still able to book two rooms, but I would say you should argue it.
another option is to have you book one and have your husband book another on a different call, with the appropriate “different “ companion if any. Otherwise book as a single.
