Responding to the question of personally cancelling cruises, no not cancelling mine.I think one poll result was 85% wanted full vax cruises?I am vaxxed so no sweat, but not vexxed that Royal have caved.Remember they (sort of) visited the crossroads about 6 years ago, and they have sold their soul to become a ferry boat service - - - 'waterpark themed ships' to 'waterpark themed nearby islands'.This requires thousands of young folks who can not be vaccinated to fill those ships every three or four days.. and polit_i_c ___ well I won't go there....or there.Cheers!

We had 4580 OV, across the hall. Noise not a problem.
Those 3 (4583, 4585 and 4587) are the studio (solo) cabins.
While sometimes cheaper when available, those smaller studios are for solo cruisers and those solo studios are only available on deck 4.
Remember, the elevators for the BR centrum are on the port side; these cabins are on the starboard side. Other than a small walk across the ship to the elevators we thought it was a fine location.

I don't know what happened between yesterday and today. Yesterday when I searched Bahamas Dec 21, I had lots of Mariner options. Today, nothing shows up that way. When I narrow it to just Mariner any destination in Dec 21, it only shows 5 night Eastern Caribbean cruises on Dec 4 and 18, and nothing else in December for Mariner... guess I should check to see if I missed something big today while I was busy...
Hi,
I just got 3 Mariner cruises cancelled today by Royal.
Might be the reason for crazy website.
They claim redeployment of Mariner.
In my case, the three Mariner cruises dropped Cozumel as a port of call.
They are focusing on Coco and Bahamas.
Good luck.
Indy is great ship, my favorite class. Enjoy 'Grease' and
don't miss the ice skating show.

Wow... glad we only have two booked in Nov 21.... with refundable deposits.
If these rules are still in effect... probably will not make final payments.
Will decide after actually waiting to read some cruiser reports when sailing does resume.
What about those crowded ship elevators... the worst spot on ship for lack of spacing.
Limit number of riders? Have a staff elevator attendant?

Yes, the port restrictions, masks, tests, and possible quarantining have us putting new cruises on the back burner. No big rush. Need to hear many good reports before coughing up more money, bad pun.
Cruising was viewed by many as a 'great value'. As more time goes by, we see it has become a 'great unknown hassle'.
Hoping for the best.

DL was deck 11 in Jan 2020.
Also, they didn't put that ugly dry slide
(fallopien tube thing. ..bad pun)
at the back of the Boardwalk yet.

Glad they didn't ruin her yet, lol.
Best D lounge.

Am I the only one who is bothered by the decision to force all land excursions to be only those sponsored by the ship? I understand the rationale, but that is my line in the sand. Guess I won't be cruising anytime in the near future.
Yup, we have gone from wanting to cruise soon...
to having zero interest in cruising with all the restrictions.
Hope to set sail when back to normal, if that ever happens.
Cheers!

"Last" was the 'last' Independence cruise
before they locked down all cruising...
March 12-16, 2020.
Was on a tear in 2020... 6 Royal cruises done
between Jan 2020-March 2020.
Also did one week on MSC Meraviglia, March 1, 2020.
I was on Empress, 7nt, Feb 23, 2020... they knew
Covid was an upcoming issue, but no guidelines
came down from shoreside at that point. Stock prices
were a topic.
I got off Empress and immediately boarded MSC
Meraviglia. MSC did have thermal scanning set up
in the terminal for that cruise (March 1, 2020).
Got home and booked Indy.... March 12th, last minute...
They had forehead scanning at terminal entrance.
Indy seemed only half full for March 12th cruise...
Covid was becoming big issue... many maybe
cancelled due to flight issues.
Anyway, They stopped all cruises after we got back
March 16th, 2020.
Since March 20th I have had 6 refunds.
We have only 2 future cruises booked (Dec 2021).
Waiting to see what happens before spending
another penny on cruising.
Cheers!

I fear my DH May have the same tipping point as you. I’m not thrilled either but will cruise because it’s my favorite way of traveling.
DW likes to create fresh salads. I always thought chefs use way way way too much salt in MDR.
Also, we go to all the shows and rarely use MDR because it takes too long to eat and run.
I can understand cost cutting. I usually chat with HDs and part of the food budget is waste.
Heard between 15-20%.... a lot of that is not even 'plated'.... just dumped at closings.

Don't worry, precautions won't be around forever, just wait it out like us.

3 refunded, 2 FCC, 2 booked in Jan.
None after that.
I had 'penciled- in' (no deposits, thankfully)
to personally cruise many times in 2020/2021
and finally reach double pinnacle a year from today,
but obviously all that is on hold pending vaccine and
return to the 'good ol' days', which won't happen soon,
if ever, lol.

>>>>>did not enjoy at all the MJ slimmed-down "C&A program" <<<<<<<<
Yes. Good point.
We were on the MJ cruise when Vernon first announced that 'shoreside changed the policy' and
no more C&A events, or the nightly D and up... happy hours would not take place on following MJ
cruises (still put 3 drinks on SeaPass card daily, D and up).
Navigator adopted same 'no event policy' for their 3 and 4 nighter Coco/Bahama cruises... I heard.
Anyway, as local frequent floaters we (also) decided to never book MJ or NE
because of their new reduction policy.
Ironic dichotomy is that Allure still retains the nice DL which many of us enjoyed since they did not
'Amp up' the DL on deck 11 with those new anti-social distancing cabins that were planned in dry dock.
But whether we actually get to use that nice AL DL again (or go on any Royal cruise) will be
determined by unknown future health protocols..... and if we feel safe booking a cruise.
Miss cruising, sure.
Go cruising again, sure, if safe, and fun again.
Meantime, saving money, lol.

<<<<< The Renaissance occured after the Dark Ages.😉<<<<<<<<<
Trivia:
Renaissance started about 1300... Black Plague messed things up in 1350 or so.
Royal Caribbean started in 1968..... Covid messed things up in 2020.
50 years about.

Yaa.... it can only get better (than it is now).

We miss the carefree, fun times we had during
the "Golden Age of Cruising" which ended in
March 2020 as a result of Covid pandemic.
Agree, we will wait and see.... no rush.
We want safe, fun cruises.

Agree that crew members rotate on schedules that may not be closely linked to passenger schedules.
The casts for the shows train at FIU Biscayne Bay campus facility.
It takes a month of training if I remember. The casts usually change over
on the ship during the TAs. The casts overlap for 2 weeks on ship during the hand-off.
Sure, those routines are all messed up.
That is a lot of needed leadtime to prepare casts..... so it remains to be seen (bad pun)
if Royal will have a normal shipboard show lineup....after restart.
-
Interesting to read how many people like the ice shows,
and production shows. Us too. Attend to every show, and
enjoy meeting the casts at other events.
We book mostly Freedom class, or Voyager class for the
ice shows and the broadway type shows.
We will wait to see if the ice shows and broadway shows
continue in some form.... probably will not cruise until then.
:-)
-
Doubt it....but if they start in Jan 2021 they may have restrictions similar to MSC. That is.... you must be on a ‘ship tour’ to get off the ship in foreign country.
We have Indy to Coz in Jan, but may shift before final.
-
So they left the 'ship tour' and broke covid containment.
If Royal adopts 'ship tour only' policy for USA cruises we
would probably wait for that policy to disappear before booking again.
-
Fun to speculate.
Remember that everything written on CC (or anywhere) is either:
1. Just 'ancient history' from the 'golden age of cruising'
(before mid-March 2020).
-or-
2. Speculation.
Speculation varies from pie-in-the-sky, to more serious extrapolation of the past.
Keep in mind that the only empirical data available is what they actually did in the past.
Hoping for the best.
