  1. The only reason I ask is my daughter is considering sailing with her children she has watched many videos posted and commented on the age of clients on the ship? She is going to sail in either March or April ( I told her at that time you will see lots more kids) She is unsure if this ship is for kids please share your thoughts if you have sailed and found the ship is occupied by all ages. Thank you very kindly..

I sailed this past March on Brilliance. We had an excellent time and the ship is beautiful!!

While I did see younger children on board I would have to say that this sailing was for the most part, college students on spring break.

  2. We just got back from our cruise and went to Seven Fathoms. Yes they have moved. We booked our tour via Discount Excursions. They were great, met at the port, dropped us and picked us up. The tour was excellent!!! Jordan, our guide was very laid back and friendly. We got to taste the rum in different stages of distilling as well as many, many samples of the different offerings at the end of the tour. A small but expanding opperation and really good rum!!! I can'tsay enough good things about our experience. A highlight for us for sure!!!

  3. If your looking for a good place to eat and drink go to Pancho's Backyard. It's 10 minute cab ride from where Royal Caribbean docks and costs about $8 for the ride. The margaritas are strong and the food is delicious. We had black bean soup, fish tacos and burritos. They have seating inside and in an outside courtyard. Also has an extensive gift shop where you will find a much more unique selection than at the port. One tip if you go....shop before you eat because there is a coupon for food on your receipt.

  4. Small things to note:

I had my first Grand Suite on Brilliance this past December. More room specific things we had while on board were:

-Complimentary Fruit bowl delivered the first day for enjoyment throughout the duration of the cruise

-Complimentary Cheese Plate delivered on the second day of the cruise

    -Complimentary Water

-Complimentary Seattle's Best Coffee in the room with a Coffee Pot

I will be in a GS on Brilliance and was wondering did you get any of these extras because of your C&A staus or just because you were in a GS? If just for the GS then I have something else to look foward too...sweet!

Hope you enjoyed your cruise and thanks for posting this info.

  5. Rumor had it there was one, but I never read anything about it after the people were supposed to go! Sounds like a great business venture to me!

There is a Party Bus Tour @ discountexcursions.com that goes to Seven Fathoms Rum/Cayman Islands Brewery/Pirates Cove among other places. Free shots and beer along the way!

  6. I'll add a plug for a few more only-in-Cayman items:

Logwood is a type of native wood with a dense, deeply coloured core. It can be crafted into some visually striking objects. Each tree is unique and the variety of available products can vary. Check out Cayman Logwood Products

Cayman cuisine is often flavoured with fiery Scotch Bonnet peppers (aka habañeros). Pepper Patch produces gourmet pepper jelly, a homemade treat only available in Cayman. It is sold through various gift shops and grocers.

If you are touring the eastern districts you will find Beach Bubbles Cayman out in Bodden Town. They make handmade soaps in a variety of scents. Take home a few bars and let the tropical smells remind you of your cruise when you are back home and the snow is falling.

Caymanite is a colourful native stone* which is shaped into pendants and other jewelry by several local jewelers. You can find examples for sale in several shops in George Town.

*OK, maybe not strictly an only-in-Cayman thing as some deposits of Caymanite have also been found in Hungary. I think you'll only find Caymanite jewelry in Cayman though.

** DISCLAIMER: As per usual, I have no stake in any of these companies, financial or otherwise.

Thanks for all this great info. Looking forward to visiting.

  7. you are aware that these cabins are NOT across the hall from each other. they are on opposite sides of the ship

you are also under the pool deck so you might get chair scrapping noises

Really? What am I missing when I look at the deck plan? 1550 is Starboard and 1050 is Port across from one another. I am a first time cruiser so there could be some detail of the deckplan that I am missing. We wanted one on each side so we could experience both views.

    Thanks for your help!
