  1. I know the 180 promo is going on now, but I didn't see in the fine print when it will end.  The last sale I remember was the St. Patrick's sale which had really good prices, but I wasn't feeling good about booking since I was in the process of getting a refund for another sailing (Princess).  Now I have a Cunard sailing on July 31 and if/when it is cancelled I am looking at what my options are for new voyages and am starting to research prices, etc.

Any thoughts or ideas on when the 180 ends and what is next?

    Thanks in advance!

  2. I completed and submitted my reimbursement form for the hotel and airline change fees (not sure if they will pay that) on March 9th.  I don't expect to hear back, but in the event anyone else sent in the form, can you post when/if you get a refund?

    Thanks!

  3. Have cruised mostly on HAL, I have always booked my next cruise onboard and then transferred it to my agent when I got home. Booking onboard is only $100 deposit per person and always comes with a little extra Obc. Does Cundard have a dedicated person on their ships that helps you book your next cruise? Do they have a flat deposit like 100 per person?

    Thanks in advance

I do like the idea of taking the MTR into Disney, as we have plenty of time and I hear that the last leg of the ride is Disney themed in the subway. Thank you also for your safety remarks, that makes me feel much better.

I have hear about this "free mall shuttle" in other posts during my research, but I still don't understand exactly where you catch it and why it is free? Can you give me a little insight or is there a link specific to the free shuttle? I would like to leave the terminal, hop on the free shuttle and then do all the purchasing via credit card to get the octopus card.

    Thanks again!

  5. I booked our flights through Princess Ez air to Singapore on China Airlines. While I can check 2 bags up to 50 pounds each, I was surprised that my carry on is only allowed to be 15 pounds. When I called to confirm, I was told that the total of my carry on and personal item couldn't exceed 15 pounds. This leaves my carry on about half full and makes me think I should rethink what I check. I am the type that can take a 20 day cruise with just a carry on, because of the fear of lost luggage. This cruise, I was planning to check 1 bag, but keep my most valued items and majority of speciality clothing in my carry on.

Can anyone give personal experience with how they weigh it at the counter or the jetway? We will be flying out of jfk to Singapore and the return from Shanghai to jfk.

I appreciate your advice and experience.

  6. We will be arriving the Kai Tak terminal and plan to go to Disney. Would the easiest choice be waiting for a taxi and if so, can anyone report recently on being able to use a credit card in the taxi or the uber take over company to look into? Many thanks. Security and safely is paramount as we will be one adult and 2 children. I appreciate the advice.

  7. Coffee cards are available, each one is for 10 coffees and it is 10 percent cheaper. Drinks packages for soft drinks or wine. The wine ones are basically bulk buying 4, 8 or 12 bottles (i think).

Is the coffee card similar to Princess in that you use the punches for specialty coffee but you get unlimited tea, coffee, and hot chocolate at the barista area?

  8. Thanks for posting about this deal. Thoughts as to if it will have a theme? I didn't see any special speakers or events scheduled for this sailing, but I could have missed it. Do TA sailings on the QM always have a speaker or event theme? If not how did they make up for that perceived void?

  9. Sorry, it looks like I should have dug a little deeper before getting your hopes up about that 2-day Southampton to Rotterdam voyage on QE July 13-15, 2018. While that voyage is indeed listed on several of the big name cruise booking web sites in the US that I routinely check, none of them actually show pricing for that voyage. Instead, they all say something like "Call for Price". And when I drill down deeper and select that voyage anyway, they tell me there is no availability. So that might be a dead end after all.

Just as an FYI, unfortunately, the Cruise Critic rules wouldn't allow me to send you specific travel agent names anyway. Here is an excerpt from the Cruise Critic Guidelines.

"... you should not ask about someone's travel agent, nor should you respond in kind. Offering to email someone your travel agent's name or info is also not allowed, nor is asking members to email you for the information."

I wish I had better news for you about that voyage. For what it's worth, I can't find that voyage on Cunard's UK web site either, so I'm not sure you would get any better results working with Cunard UK even if you could.

    Regards,

    John

Thanks John for the update. I appreciate you helping to investigate and also acknowledging the UK Cunard info. I wonder how one books this? My Cunard person was perplexed which is why she spoke to a supervisor. I wish I could book that short journey to extend this great cruise. I did end up putting a deposit on the Rotterdam version, but can change without penalty for awhile, so hoping to hear more feedback.

  10. I have not sailed from Rotterdam, so I can't help with comparing Southampton to Rotterdam in terms of the embarkation experience in those two ports.

With regard to starting in Southampton and ending in Rotterdam, I believe you are looking at the Queen Elizabeth itinerary departing Southampton July 13, 2018 and arriving in Rotterdam on July 29, 2018. I do not see anyone offering that particular itinerary as a single voyage. However, I do see some online cruise booking web sites that list the 2-day voyage from Southampton to Rotterdam on July 13-15, 2018 as one voyage and the 14-day voyage from Rotterdam to Rotterdam on July 15-29, 2018 as a separate voyage. So it might be possible to book that itinerary as two separate back-to-back voyages. I don't see that 2-day segment from Southampton to Rotterdam shown on Cunard's web site itself, however.

    Hope this helps some.

    John

Thank you John. I called Cunard to book the 2 day as that would be perfect, but they said the US Cunard can't book it, only the UK. I also can't find the sailing on the typical TAs I use in the US. Can you email me-message me the websites you noticed it on?

  11. It has been almost 20 years since I was on a Cunard ship. I am looking at the British Isles cruise in summer, July of 2018 for myself and 2 daughters and was wondering if someone could give me the pluses and minuses of the 2 embarkation points for the same cruise. Rotterdam is slightly more cost effective. I would be flying from USA east coast. Is there anyway to start in South Hampton and end in Rotterdam? Basically try to book those extra 2 days? Has it ever been done?

  12. Hi all,

I hope someone can give me some advice. My TA bigbox will not take my amex. I even escalated it to a supervisor who said absolutely not. Is there any way around this? They said I can't pay HAL directly since I booked with them, which I can understand, but I keep thinking there must be a work around on this. The only idea I have is buying gift cards with the amex, but does a carnival card work towards payment? The TA supervisor was very unhelpful with ideas, which I can also understand due to the company cutting ties with

    amex. Thoughts?
