  1. We would have liked a refund but were denied that.  We only got 100% FCC.  People who cancelled a few days after us got 125% FCC.  All we want is total FCC and not have to pay more money because Azamara gave us a 50/50 FCC credit each, which if we book a future cruise will leave passenger 1 owing and passenger 2 with remaining FCC.  Not happy with Azamara right now.  Friends who cruise with crystal seem to be happier so we may switch.

  2. Re Azamara:  So we only could get future cruise credit, not a refund.  When we purchased the original cruise it was bogoho and passenger 1 paid 6789 and passenger 2 paid 3099.  They gave us a certificate for FCC for $4949 each instead of the split we really paid.  Now we’re trying to book a new cruise and it’s still the bogoho deal so the cost for passenger 1 would be  6459 and 3229 for passenger 2.  Azamara is saying that if we book that cruise, passenger 1 will owe $1510,  and passenger 2 will still have 1720 fcc!!!  They should issue the fcc based on how it was originally paid.

  3. Yes we originally got bogoho and spouse paid 6799 I paid 3099.  But fcc certificate shows we each got 4949 fcc which means for the new cruise we’re trying to book spouse would owe 1510 on new cruise and I would have 1720 fcc credit.  This is all wrong!!!

  4. We got $4800 each FCC as we had to cancel our March 23 cruise .  If we’d cancelled 2 days prior we woudd have had125% FCC but because we cancelled 2 days prior to that we only got 100% fcc.  NOW were trying to book a cruise March 2021 and they are saying that passenger 1 gets the $4800 credit but passenger 2 only gets 50% credit.  That means passenger 1 would owe $2100 and passenger 2 would have $1700 credit!!  This is BS and when i talk to my other cruising friends they are not being treated that way.  Crystal is doing the right thing.  We are repeat Azamara cruisers but will be looking elsewhere.

  5. The golden zone is named after the many jewelry stores there. Most all Mazatlan beach front resorts greet pool using cruisers with open arms, including the ones adjacent to the golden zone. Best to go few mile farther north to the El Cid, which is the preferred cruiser resort spot, so preferred that you will see many of your fellow passengers there. El Cid is giant and the beach has all the amenities and rent able beach toy options. Golden Zone resorts would be a bit quieter, if that's what you are looking for

zoom in on the satellite maps below

Great info! Thanks! We will probably go to one in the Gold Zone where it is quieter. Thanks a lot.

  6. Are these ports pretty safe?

What did you do in these ports?

Puerto Vallarto is one of the ports but I know our friends were advised to stay in a restricted area in PV by Carnival recently. If we stop there may stay on ship since we have been there two times already. It is a shame.

    Thanks

Hi, we took a taxi with another couple to the Loreto Bay Resort, which was a quiet smallish resort with a lovely pool and right on the beach. Website is http://www.loretobayresort.com. Food was excellent, beach was clean and ocean calm, rented kayaks and had a wonderful day, then taxi back to port. Food was excellent too, had the fish tacos. Well worth going if you want a nice relaxing day.

  7. We spend the day at the Loreto Bay Golf Resort in Loreto - took a cab out there from the cruise ship. AMAZING! Very quiet, lovely pool, clean beach with palapas and chairs. Rented kayaks just a ways down the beach. Food at the restaurant there was amazing, best fish tacos we have ever had. Well worth a visit if you want a nice relaxing day at a great spot.

  8. We just got back from RCCL Panama Canal cruise. In Puerto Vallarta we hired a taxi to take us around and give us a tour of PV. We were lucky to hire Juan Antonio Miranda. He was wonderful and I recommend him highly. Very nice gentleman and he spoke perfect English. He took us to the standard sites, including the church, Tequila Factory.

He was very accommodating. As we were driving along we would see something and yell stop and he did. One of the women in our foursome wanted to buy leather huarache sandals. She didn't want to pay $30 so he took us to where the locals shop where they make the sandals. She paid $15 for the sandals.

Juan can be reached via email at: j.a.mrnd@hotmail.com

Hi, emailed him and he replied he charges $30 per hour. He suggested we Skype before arriving! We will most likely arrange to meet him when we dock and have him take us around, including Chico's Paradise probably. Thanks for the recommendation!
