  1. My husband and I are both 65, retired, and each of us has a disabling physical condition.  No wheelchairs yet, but oxygen and decreased mobility in play.  We’ve cruised a few times in the past and really enjoyed it.  Trying to decide now whether to take the Panama Canal cruise on the Eurodam as one last cruise.  Caveat:  it’s highly likely that we won’t be able to walk the piers at ports and will simply stay on board for the entire cruise.

Does anyone have any experience doing this, and was it worth it to you? Do you have regrets?  I *think* I’ll be fine with it but I do wonder how we’ll feel when the day comes that we’re sitting in Antigua or HMC and cannot go ashore.

    Thanks for thoughts!

  2. I have searched high and low on the forums (I know it’s annoying to the regulars to answer questions over and over) and the HAL website.  Cannot find the answer to this:  Do Vista Suites on Nieuw Statendam receive early boarding/disembarkation privileges?  I’ve read all about how little you gain from a Vista Suite, in comparison with other, higher ranking suites, but cannot find confirmation of what my travel agent told me about receiving those privileges.

    Thanks in advance!

The only dumb question is the question not asked! 😎

I will beg to differ.  I’ve heard this all my life, but as a retired nurse, I will tell you that there ARE many dumb questions.  Here’s my favorite:

Post-op diabetic patient:  “I haven’t had anything to eat since last night (due to anesthesia.). Can I have a doughnut now?”

  4. It has been many years (probably 20) since we cruised HAL.  It was wonderful then, with Half Moon Cay being a particular treat as we were the only ship there at the time.  We are contemplating another cruise and are wondering what changes, if any, are apparent on HAL ships since Carnival took over. At some point, we heard that HMC was no longer comfortable due to the quantity of Carnival ships there at the same time.

    Any insight would be appreciated.
