  1. Just my two cents... :)

Please insure everyone. I mean this with all respect... if you can't afford the insurance on everyone, then you can't afford the loss that would happen if one of the adults needed medical care, had to be airlifted off the ship, or had to cancel. Things happen to even those young and healthy - broken bones, accidents in port, appendix... Emergency care is also different overseas and in many places they will not treat you at all without payment upfront. Insurance will step in and get them funds or a guarantee to get you treatment.

I had to cancel my 40th birthday cruise a few years ago the day of sailing because my gallbladder got infected and I had to have it out that week. Had I been on the ship when it happened, I'd have most likely been in a medical evacuation as I was seriously ill. I got a full refund for the cruise... and counted my blessings that I hadn't gotten sick a week later while on the cruise.

I am sorry but your answer is not related to my question. I'd rather cancel our cruise than pay these abnormal travel insurance premiums.

  2. Depending on the coverage, with some companies children are free with paid policy on an adult. Insurance does increase based on age, so it makes sense that the premium for a child would be way cheaper than an adult. We've gotten quotes where our son is free and others where he isn't so it varies. Just make sure that whatever you select, the coverage provided is enough.

Thanks. That's what I am trying to figure out: if I only enter a child as a traveler and buy a policy. Is it a valid policy? Or an adult always have to be listed? The insurance website allows to buy it for a child only, but does not specify if it is a valid policy or not.
