We will be on the Sky Princess in late August.  Have you noticed if pickleball is offered as an activity?  My husband has played on another Princess cruise and is HOPING he can play on this one!

Thanks for taking the time to post your observations and your pictures. This is greatly appreciated.  Hope your wife is feeling better.

I was on the Sky Princess on a B2B in January.  They offered Pickleball Open Play (unhosted) from 10a-12n almost everyday.  Center court on deck 18 Aft.   🙂

  2. We were also on the ship the same time as you as part of our 2nd week during our B2B.  The week prior to your sailing (Eastern) was a rough week of sailing.  Even Captain Tuvo mentioned the seas were a bit rough.

The Sky Princess is a beautiful ship and we enjoyed our two weeks on the ship.  Embarkation and disembarkation was fast and easy with the Medallions.

For those of you who are interested, I have been blogging about our cruise and will continue updating as soon as I get through all my pictures.

Thanks for your reply. I did wonder if it was because we are close to sail day.

Where do I need to go to purchase internyon board, customer service?

Stop by the Internet cafe and see what they might be offering.  They should have instructions for sign on available as well.

  4. Was on the Royal Princess for B2B in January when they switched over to the MedallionNet mid-cruise.  The internet speed was fast.  No issues with posting blog entries and lots of pictures of our cruise.  Enjoyed not having to worry about login/logoff during the second week of our cruise.  It was interesting to see the difference from the old to the new.  From Princess @Sea to Ocean Concierge (browser).

  5. I am gluten intolerant and I was on the Caribbean Princess in January and was able eat from the buffet. When I arrived on the ship, I went up to the buffet for lunch and met the head cook who was in charge. He was kind enough to tell what items are gluten-free and what items to stay away from. There's a separate station with gluten-free items. At Slices, they can make a 10" gluten-free pizza. You just have to let the know ahead of time as it takes them time to prepare it (45-50 mins).

  6. I submitted/faxed my information this past weekend and then called on Monday to verify receipt of fax. The Princess booking person told me to wait 48-72 hours for the OBC to show up. It appeared the next day on my personalizer and I received an updated booking confirmation showing the OBC. Way cool!

  7. Hubby and I went to Eden Beach/Spice Club in January. We walked along the water's edge and it was of course a hot day. At Eden/Spice Beach, it was $5pp or $10 for both of us and included two lounge chairs and shared umbrella. There is a bar/restaurant onsite as well as a pool, bathrooms, and an outdoor shower.

There's a pier with a ladder for easy entry into the water. We snorkeled from this beach and headed over to Coco Beach next door. Along the way we saw a coral farm, porcupine fish, cow fish, trumpet fish, etc. Around the ladder you can see a lot of Sargent majors, blue tangs, and other varieties of fish. If you go snorkeling at this resort or anywhere else on the island, you will need to purchase a "marine tag".

It was neat to see Klein Bonaire across the water.

We walked back to the cruise ship pier. I would say it took us about 45 minutes to walk. We also stopped along the way so I could take some pictures of our adventure. It was a beautiful sunny and hot day. Make sure to bring water with you and hydrate.

  8. How hard is it to get to blue kay and back to the cruise ship terminal?

Easy to get to Blue Kay. Pick up a taxi outside the cruise terminal. The cost for us was $2pp each way. The taxi will drop you off at the Blue Kay entrance. If a taxi is not available at Blue Kay when you get ready to leave, just walk about a block south along the Malecon and you will see the taxis waiting.

  9. Do you remember where the taxi dropped you off at, at Eagle Beach?

We were a little bit south of the Paradise Beach Villas/Tiki Bar & Restaurant. There's a side road (for turnarounds) and the taxi dropped us off at the beach. After a few hours on the beach, we were able to walk back to the drop off area and saw a taxi waiting.

  10. Another vote for West Deck which is not too far from the cruise port. Nice menu selections and decent prices. I like their small bites or appetizers which is a great way to try their food or you can order a meal.

Their restaurant deck sits on the beach and you can watch the planes land at the nearby airport. Also, if you time it right...watch a beautiful sunset.

I have a few pictures on my blog. Look for the Aruba posts from January of this year: http:http://www.2bcruising.blogspot.com

  11. We've been to both Bonaire and Costa Maya and they are rustic places. Especially in Costa Maya when you get out of the port area.

I would definitely choose Bonaire as it's in the Southern Caribbean and if you enjoy snorkeling or diving this is the place to be!

I have posted many underwater pictures from our last cruise this past January (includes both Bonaire and Costa Maya) on our blog: http:http://www.2bcruising.blogspot.com We enjoyed our B2B Southern and Western cruise and spent a lot of time in the water. Enjoy!

  12. Here's a vote for Money Bar! We had a fantastic time there. The snorkeling right off the beach (sort of speaking) was great. There's a short wall that separates the beach area from the water. There are two entrances into the water with stone-like steps. It can be quite slippery to walk in the water and there are hand rails to hold onto.

Once we were in the water, the fish were right there. Hubby and I easily spent two hours in the water. During our time in the water, we saw a few snorkel excursion boats drop anchor. We already knew we were in a great snorkeling area and had a better time on our own adventure.

I have posted many snorkeling pictures on my blog along with a picture of the taxi rates and locations.

  13. We were in Cozumel at the end of January and took a taxi. They have a sign outside the terminal area with locations and rates. I would ask the taxi driver if there would be taxis available to come back. We were at Money Bar and when we decided to leave there was 2-3 taxis waiting across the street.

I have posted a picture of the taxi sign (locations and rates) on my blog. See my Cozumel post from January.

  14. We were at a Blue Kay at the end of January. We paid $5 pp and was able to get a wood lounger, a free drink of our choice and a beautiful view of the beach and water. We found two loungers under a palm tree and dropped our stuff. We snorkeled for an hour and I saw yellow stingray, turtle, and lots of blue tang, banded butterfly, and parrot fish. We snorkeled about 60 yards away from the beach. The yellow stingray was close to the beach.

We walked along the Malecon a short distance north to the end where the lighthouse is located. Then walked back past Blue Kay to see what other properties looked like.

The beach area next to Blue Kay was packed and the water was filled with stones.

Further down (south) along the Malecon, as I call the next block or so, had a much more livelier atmosphere and saw several resorts here.

Next time we're in Costa Maya we're going to try another resort for food and drinks and just head back towards Blue Kay for snorkeling off the beach.

I think any of the resorts would be great for beach time.
