  1. One thing I didn't like about the whole deal was they were melting the cheese in huge batches and just pouring it on the burgers. I didn't like to see that at all. But it didn't keep me from eating it. However, I prefer my cheese as a slice, not a Cheez Whiz glop.

There were two lines on the Magic. When I was in line I counted 32 people in front of me and there were multiple times where the servers had to wait on burgers to be cooked. When a batch came through they plated them quickly. However when they were waiting on more, they would take at least 3-4 min. and then because 2 lines were feeding in then it seemed to take forever.

  2. I am a cruise baby with 67 days at sea and only 31 years old... My non cruising friends think that's a lot?

    Ah well....

Done a good amount of countries not on cruises so that'll do for me.

I don't think I will get to 1500 days at sea to be honest, once I have done all the ports and continents I want I will probably find something else. :)

I have about the same as you. I think that is a lot for 31 years old. I'm 44.

My kids will potentially be around the same as you when they are your age. They are already at about 35 days and my oldest child is 15.

  3. If 1 person is cruising you can bring 12 cans. It doesn't matter how they're packaged.

If 2 people are cruising you can take 24 cans. It doesn't matter how they're packaged.

If 3 people are cruising, you can take 36 cans. It doesn't matter how they're packaged.

If 4 people are cruising you can take 48 cans. It doesn't matter how they're packaged.

If 5 people are cruising, you can take 60 cans. It doesn't matter how they're packaged.

What is the maximum amount of cans that the Vista will have based on all cabins filled to capacity? Also, based on the average weight of said cans, how many tons will this be? ;p

  4. The ends on the cartons are just glued. I would just put the coke on the bottom of a sprite 12 pack or the other way around and re-glue. Big deal, if they are going to stop you and question that then you surely look like a saint compared to all the "free booze" cruisers. That's Loserville in my opinion. What you are doing should be fine.

  5. No you use your room key. It keeps track of your points. Last cruise I was on it was 1000 points and you got free drinks. Before it was all said and done I had over 10k points and I received a casino rate voucher the final night. Not as impressive as MSC though. On theirs they include port charges and tax and a balcony room. Carnival's offer was for an interior room.

  6. It's horrible. They messed it uup on Magic. used to be 1 line, 3 cooks; now 2 lines 2 cooks. Never again.

Agreed. Visited multiple times on our trip in December and it was a minimum 10 min wait. They always seemed rushed and if you ordered something on the special menu it seemed to really slow things down and throw a wrench in their plans. Not impressed. Although burger quality beats Johnny Rockets on Royal. Fries were better too. But the overall process is just not the way it should be.

  7. Lets not forget the suites also: https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1374/~/faster-to-the-fun-%28fttf%29

"A Few Facts on Faster to the Fun

VIFP Diamond and Platinum members and guests traveling in deluxe suite accommodations are the only guests to have access to the Captain’s Lounge at embarkation.

Similar to airlines boarding first class and then elite frequent flyers, etc., we will start boarding with VIFP Diamond and Platinum members, followed by guests traveling in deluxe suite accommodations and then FTTF guests."

  8. Glad to see there are a bunch of non-party people here. PARTY POOPERS UNITE!!! Haha!!! Well, anyway...we all have fun in our own way and I (like many of you I would think) just keep it a little more low key than others. Variety right? We are here to balance the others out.

Thanks for the feedback and I am 95% sure I'm going to complete the booking in the morning. I don't think there is any way I'm going to get cheaper than $2500 including tax and port charges for 2 balcony rooms for a week. Almost seemed too good to be true, which is why I decided to ask for feedback. Glad I did. Thanks!!!

  9. Thanks Brian! It definitely isn't easy sometimes. Then again, my mom had 5 as an eventual single parent. We only have 3 kids and both parents are here and we are WAY better off...so I just have to keep perspective. Been through the hard times, this is nothing compared to that. So free cruise or not, I'm still a winner. I'm not too worried about it, but it was nice to vent a little. I'll stop crying now. HAHA!

  10. Thanks crooooze and beachbum (and as I was posting amsred.) We are thinking about the Magic. Kids just can't get the waterslides out of their minds and they are burning up the YouTube servers watching the videos about every few minutes. But I told them that I just can't commit based on waterslides and that's it. Wondering if someone can comment on other things for them to do on this vessel. Thanks!

  11. Thinking of booking...but haven't committed yet. I've sailed on Princess a few times, Royal Caribbean to Platinum, MSC with the status match, and Disney. I want to know what to expect on a Carnival cruise. We would be taking our 3 kids. Two tweens and a 3 year old.

Here is what I need to know for sure...since we don't drink or party much. Are we going to feel extremely out of place on a 7 day? We are mostly there for the relaxation, excursions, kids club, and some bikini watching. ;) Well, sorry...really I'm getting tired of all those sexiest man competitions. We need the one for the women. Then I'll show up. Anyway, sorry for the detour. We have sailed on some pretty nice ships but rarely do we do the formal nights. Buffet is fine by us. Thoughts???

  12. Hey, joeyjeremiah. Yeah, I wish that was a solution. Unfortunately in the fine print it says that the person who the offer is made out to on the mailer must be sailing. Otherwise, the room will be repriced at full non-discounted rate. Or something to that effect. I'd have to double check the wording. So the winner would have to be me. ;) I commend your creative thinking though. Maybe I'll get one of those coins with two heads on it or two tails. Either way I'd win. LOL.

perakcruiser, why do you hope something like that for??? Seems a little odd to me. Be happy.

  13. I'll throw in a round of drinks if you let me go. :halo:

Well if you were an uninhibited female between the age of 30-50, AND my wife approved (which wouldn't have a chance in the world of that happening) then I would consider your offer. However, in the current scenario...the answer is no. Sorry. ;p :')

  14. First of all, I'm Platinum with Royal Caribbean. (Takes a bow, followed by mandatory applause and champagne toast.) However, I was hoping that there would be a condensed version of this thread for Platinum cruisers and above. Please provide at my convenience. Thank you. And thank me for thanking you. You're welcome. Well, maybe you're welcome. Depends on how thankful you are for me thanking you. Platinum dreams to all!!!

P.S.: I'm certain someone who is Diamond will come in here and try to outdo me, but for now I have the spotlight. And I'm enjoying all of my fabulous perks that go along with it. Perks many others don't have. Bet you wish you were like me. HA! PLATINUM CLUB BABY!!!! YESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!

  15. I wish I could say I was in that situation. However, I did have a sister named Cruise'nMaMa and after she graduated high school I never saw her again. You couldn't be the same person, could you? If so, do you have babysitting availability during that timeframe??? ;)

If they were to only miss a partial week, say a max of 3 days I'd be into it. However, I just can't take them out for a full 5 day school week. This is my daughter's first year of high school and my son's first year of middle school. I just don't want them to miss that much. Not judging, but I also have my reasons.

At any rate, let me know how your adventure is on Seaside in January. I hope you have an amazing time. Spin the slots a time or two for me. And take pics, lots of them!

  16. Well, I am very honored and lucky to have received one of the mailers from MSC that gives me and a guest a free balcony room, including port charges, on one of 3 sailings in March/April/May of next year. Oh yes, this is happening! No???

In the beginning I was extremely excited. And that lasted a few hours from when I received it earlier in the week. However, we have young kids that are school age and we just can't take them out of school for a week, especially when none of those weeks backs up to any scheduled days off for them. My wife told me just to go by myself, which would make me feel a little guilty...well...for a minute or two....and then after that minute or two I begin asking myself if this is a trap by her where she takes off with her man Blake Shelton and never returns. HAHA.

But really...I'm a recipient of a free cruise, but I'm a loser of a free cruise. Just like my last trip on Divina, was awarded a free cruise but the dates just didn't line up for me. :( Please tell me how cool it is to be a loser. I'm gonna need your help getting through this. :D :')

  17. A few other notes:

The wireless internet was great. A little tricky to get started, but the speed was much better than I anticipated. Bad thing is there is a limit (as to be expected.) Run out of MB and you need to purchase a new package. Regardless, my son had fun with some of the new apps he downloaded to his tablet. Beware automatic background app updates. They will eat your internet in no time.

One thing I didn't like, which I had never seen before...was people going to disembark the ship with using their cruise card the final time and then the security saying they needed to settle their account with guest services. While waiting in line I saw multiple people have to leave their group to go and settle their account. Not sure if this happens on other lines as much, but that definitely would be embarrassing. Make sure your CC is a good one for foreign travel and that you have a nice limit on it. Hopefully one without foreign transaction fees.

Bingo --- well it was disappointing. The day I went the prize was only $400. 3 cards for $40. Coverall. Not that I'm a bingo nut, but I guess I was lured in somehow. And I guess bingo is disappointing anytime you don't win. But, it was just one single game. Not 3 games like I've seen on other cruise lines. Quickly started and quickly finished.

One more positive: the elevators were very fast, even with a full ship. The doors shut quickly though, so watch out. When the train arrives, you'd better hop on quick!

  18. What was the menu on the gala nights in the MDR now that lobster isn't included?

    Thanks

Sorry, but I don't have the info for you. I didn't dine in the MDR once. Mostly because we have a 2.5 y/o and we didn't want him to distract from other's MDR experiences. I think someone mentioned that you can still get lobster, but it is just an additional charge? Maybe someone can confirm that if true.
