  1. Took a great class with Alex yesterday at 5:00pm. Can wear regular sneakers. Only 2 more group classes this cruise. Sign up at Canyon Ranch desk. $11 surcharge, but worth it imho. Also can cycle solo any time there is not a group class taking place.

  2. Hi. I have used air deviation a few times. I research what flights I want and what they would cost me privately. Then I have my TA submit my request. I have never been denied my choices and have never paid any additional fee other than the air deviation. I do live in NY which may make it easier for o to get my flights. Do the hw first

and put in for deviation as soon as it opens for your sailing. I have gotten different info on that as well so call o for your exact date. Hope this helps

Thank you Fern. When my ta came back to me with the $100 up charge, I jumped at the chance. See my original post for what I thought I had to pay! I know a lot better for next time.

  3. Thanks :D Yes, I do want EC. I assume you mean the final payment for the cruise? Sorry if I sound like a dunce. (not due til May 15)

Congratulations! Happy it worked out for you. If you want to upgrade to Delta's Economy Comfort (more leg room, priority boarding & a few other perks) you can make your final payment now and ask O to issue your tickets now. As I understand it, you can't request Economy Comfort until the tickets are issued.
  4. My ta is insisting I will have to pay the full retail difference:confused:

To put this another way, when a Passenger requests an Air Deviation, Oceania comes back with a Quote regarding the cost of the requested flight.

If said flight is more expensive, there may be an up-charge involved, but even if there is, it may not be a dollar for dollar surcharge of the entire retail difference in cost. As a bulk buyer, Oceania does not pay the same Fares as you or I.

In any case, after receiving the Quote, the Passenger then has the option of accepting it, asking for another flight entirely, or deciding not to Deviate through Oceania at all.

The Deviation fee, though paid at the time when Deviation is chosen, does not become nonrefundable until a route is accepted by the Passenger.

  5. Yes I would prefer non-stop. I was under the impression that I DO have to pay the difference between the $900 allowance and any flight that I choose myself. And then the deviation on top of that. That's how I came up with the extra

So say Delta is $1700, the diff is $800pp plus $175. That's how I came up with the extra $2000 in my original post.

Why would you not take the Delta flights ..they are non stop ??

I have a feeling you do not understand the process with Oceania & maybe your TA does not either

If you can get the flights you want the only extra fee is the deviation if you fly in a day or more before the cruise (recommended) or stay a few days after the cruise

Sometimes there will be an upcharge

This is for economy air if your want bus class then it will cost more

  6. Fabulous site. I thought I found great connections on SAS but my ta said 45minutes is cutting it close to change planes in Copenhagen, same airline. Newark/Copenhagen/Venice

Have your TA contact the air dept with your dates you want to travel ask about what flights they will give you

Step 2 check http://matrix.itasoftware.com/ to see the flights you would like

or you can just ask upfront for the flights you want now

After Oceania comes back with the flight info you have 48hrs to decide to take them & pay the deviation fee or decline & keep working with them to get flights suitable

I would not wait too much longer to start the process :)

  7. that flight search site is fantastic! 123 I found great flights on SAS with a super short stop in Copenhagen coming and going. My ta is calling O right now. And a super price. :D Thank you!

YES If you want to arrive or depart any time other than the day the ship sails or arrives, you must do a deviation. Otherwise you will arrive on the day of departure and leave for home on the day of arrival.

This is what you want anyway to have the opportunity to choose your airline and routing. There have been stories regarding long layovers and flight on not so good airlines. Remember, CC only represents about 5% of cruisers.

Am concerned over your TA not explaining this to you that included air only includes day of departure/arrival flights. Quickly choose your requested flights and get them to your TA TODAY.

  9. Waiting for a call back from my ta right now. I am sure non stop flights will be out of the question due to cost and very limited flights.

So It comes down to this… if I am not going to get non stop flights, why pay extra in the form of a deviation? I absolutely would if I heard negative feedback about Os own travel connections. I don't expect happy campers arriving for their cruise if they just had an 8hr layover somewhere.

Also, if we wanted to arrive 2 days early to ensure we don't "miss the boat", would we need the deviation? I have heard multiple answers. If we do, we will.

    Arrgh, better call my ta

  10. Would so much appreciate any guidance! Husband and I are taking our first Oceania cruise in July, 7 days Venice/Rome. When checking with ta about direct flights from Nyc, found it would add at least $2000 to the trip. That is with using the airfare allowance.

I would like to get the "lowdown" on using the flights provided by O. I figure it can't be a total nightmare, or I would be reading about it here on this board. Flight info is given 75 days before flight. So just wait and see?

Plan on going 2 days early for time in Venice. Thanks so much!
