I would love if this is true for our sailings, but with the limited availability of seating in Teppanyaki, I won't count on it. Maybe the Canal sailing with 15 days can do it, but I doubt that the 7 day Alaska can...

We are on the Inaugural Alaskan sailing on June 2nd. Like I said we were told Teppanyaki.

Does anyone have a feel for what specialty restaurant will replace Moderno for the complimentary Platinum dinner? Only 2 weeks out from being able to book dining reservations and have been unable to find information on the NCL website. Thanks
Yes. We are on the inaugural and they are offering Teppanyaki in place of Moderno.

We rate NCL the most handicapped accessible however regardless of the cruise line, you should do your research on the ship you will select. The ships very greatly in each of the cruise lines fleets.
-
If you opt to bid for an upgrade you will not be guaranteed that the upgrade will be an accessible room. Period end of story.

Do you remember where you read this at? my google searching only shows a user comment on cruisecritic from a few months back suggest it could be 14 years old but nothing official.
The age limit on the NCL Joy is 14 y/o and up. So the assumption is the NCL Bliss will be the same.

BOOK ASAP!!!! We have a YOUTUBE channel all about cruising with a focus on cruising with disabilities and we always book our Handicap Accessible cabins at least a year in advance. At times we have 2-4 booked at the same time!! LOL
-
That will be great would love to see those when they're posted.
Candi
We are in an interior handicap room. I reached out to our role call to see if anyone would let us film there cabins and sometimes I can get the ship to let me sneak peek some. So fo hires crossed. Lol. But our cabin will be very similar to yours.

I am booked on the October 13, 2018 sailing to Mexico. I managed to get a handicap cabin so my walker will be able to go through the door. I am so excited to find this thread. I started a roll call also. I will be checking in here daily for updates.
Candi
Way to go Candi. We will be on the Inaugural Alaskan cruise and will be videoing the whole cruise as well as different cabin tours on our YouTube channel if u want to see what the cabins look like.

I'm booked on the Bliss June 02 to Alaska. Very excited! We will also be celebrating my bf's 30th birthday on this sailing.
Following the thread in hopes of hearing about Howl At The Moon coming to the Bliss. That was the best entertainment offered on the Norwegian Getaway. We went every night. I saw HATM in Baltimore, MD and the venue and entertainers just did not compare to the group performing on the Norwegian ship.
That's the sailing we are on. We are hoping to interview some of the other passengers for one of our videos if your interested.

We can't wait to sail on the NCL Bliss. Been book on her since January!!! We are on the first inaugural Alaskan cruise. We are going to be filming the whole cruise for our YouTube channel. I must admit, her size intimidates me a little!!!

kmcnamara68,
I love you guys!!! Kevin and Frank, I have watched your youtube channel, especially the Bitch stole my Wheelchair! It's the perspective I like too!
Awwwe. Thanks so much. We just finished filming a series of videos about cruising with autism. We have a lot more to post from our last cruise and will be cruising in October on the NCL Jade and again on the inaugural cruise on the NCL Bliss. Can't wait to share all the info we find out on those sailings.

The power of the scooter moving forward, once she slides her key card should be enough to get the door open. It can be very difficult to get and keep those doors open if they don't have the electric door opener installed. There really isn't a good answer I can give other than the method I have described above. Sorry. Sometimes when I'm in my manual chair I use my cane to prop against the door but most times my hubby is with me so I don't find it to be that big of an issue.

Hi there
After looking at this thread, I realized that the initial comments about the comparison of the products between Special Needs at Sea and Care Vacations -now Scootaround were 5 years old.
What are people's thoughts about the two companies now and the different products they offer...We are looking at the choices for the electric scooters (the 2 lighter weight choices). Are they offering comparable products?
thanks for your opinions
Your first question should be with the cruise company your traveling with. Most lines will only allow the rental company they choose. From there I would say the companies are comparable. We have used both on different cruise lines and are both reliable and reasonably priced.

We are sailing in the NCL Bliss in an inside cabin on the maiden voyage in Alaska. We picked it because we have a YouTube channel and wanted to be the first to have videos up about it. That being said, you can't beat sailing a brand new ship. We also prefer NCL over RCCL so if it were us we would be sticking with the BLISS. Good luck.

Save your money. The internet is sluggish at best. You can get great wifi for free at all the ports just follow the staff or ask them where they hang out on shore.
