  1. Hi, we have just purchased some OBC for our next cruise on Diamond Princess in February, as the rate was very good from the UK. We also have a small amount of non-refundable OBC from our initial booking. Does the non-refundable OBC get allocated towards purchases first ?

  2. I must say that I was very disappointed with P and O, having tried them once in 2014. It was a mini cruise, which I know are different to other cruises, but the food was terrible in the buffet, and the bars were badly laid out and didn't have a good atmosphere. This was on the Aurora. We are Brits and much prefer Celebrity or Princess.

  3. Considering the thousands of bookings on Celebrity ships, the few complaints about the website or phone call issues that we see on CC are fairly small in my opinion. People use different computers, browsers, mobile devices, etc. this complicates things. When the online and phone issues cause X to lose money, then they will make it right. The ships almost always fill up. If someone has loyalty status on a cruise line, it will take a lot for them to switch and start accumulating points on a new Line.

Well I have to say that I had such a bad experience with the website that I am seriously considering boycotting them until things improve. I have never had these problems with Princess.

  4. I had a complete nightmare with the website. Our cruise itinerary was changed - mainly same ports, but different days - but for 6 months the excursions and ports didn't match up properly. I complained about 8 times by email. It eventually got fixed, but I suggested I should be compensated for all the hassle, and got USD 200 OBC. Might be worth others doing the same. I have to say, the problems with the website are making me seriously consider whether to book with them again. Have never had any trouble with Princess !

  5. I heard horror stories a number of years ago about a group on a HAL cruise who were born again Christians or similar religious group that harassed other passengers trying to get them to convert.

Oh well, we're too late to cancel now. If they have a problem with me in a bikini it's their tough luck :)

  6. If prayers work, you would be covered for just about any incident while aboard.

True, that's the upside :) but we're not religious and wonder about the atmosphere in the bars ! Anyway, looking forward to the Equinox on 1 Feb !!

  7. Hi, we are thinking about booking a Princess Southeast Asia cruise from Singapore on the Diamond Princess in early 2017. We have cruised with Princess several times, but only in the Caribbean, and we like the parties, discos etc. in the evening, rather than going to the theatre. We're all around 60 so aren't expecting a rave, but can anyone advise whether the entertainment is likely to be similar on the Asian itineraries ?

Also, we're expecting that the clientele is likely to be a mix of Asians, Aussies, Americans and Europeans - is that about right ?

    Thanks for any info !

  8. We are on the Equinox in Feb 2016, and are looking at possible full-day excursions in Puerto Limon. Celebrity have 3 very similar-looking ones - Veragua Rain Forest and Tortuguero canals, Rainforest Extravaganza, and Costa Rica Favourites. The info and prices seem to be very similar for all of them ! Does anyone have any recommendations / info that would help us decide please ?

  9. We went to Governor's beach in 2013 and were really disappointed. Seems a bit run down - there was just an old shack selling canned drinks and some very worn sunbeds (no umbrellas). There was also a shipwreck on the beach (not sure if that has been moved now !) We're going to Grand Turk again in Feb and will just stay near the pier this time !!

  10. Hi, we have just returned from our first Celebrity cruise (Southeast Asia - Celebrity Millennium), having cruised 5 times before with Princess. We were really disappointed with the food in the main dining room (MDR) on Celebrity, and didn't find one meal in the whole cruise that was as good as the Princess food from our previous cruises. The portions were a bit larger on Celebrity, (which in fact we didn't need or want), but the presentation was poor, the quality and choice of food was not as good and the description of the dishes just didn't seem very appetising - the fish / seafood options particularly were very limited. We ended up eating in the buffet restaurant instead on quite a few occasions. We thought that Princess was much more like a 'Fine Dining' experience, which surprised us. I'm interested to know whether other people have had the same experience recently ? Is the food in the MDR on the Celebrity Solstice ships better than in the older ones like the Millennium ? It has really put us off trying Celebrity again !
