Sailing on Bollette soon. What is the testing procedure at QE2 terminal?
-
We will be on Oceana next October and will be in Venice one day. Can anyone tell me where the ship docks there? I think the Fred Olsen ships can still go right in, but not sure about the larger ones like Oceana, as I remember something about restrictions for the larger ships some time back.
We have not been to Venice before (cruise or otherwise), so would we be able to just walk ashore, or will we need a shuttle bus or tour to get into the centre?
See this link, it may help

Thanks Roods, very helpful!
Was there a fee for the shuttle?
Jon
I don't think there was a fee, but if there was it wasn't much. From memory the shuttle bus stops are quite well signposted when you come out of the cruise terminal. There are also plenty of taxis which are not expensive.
As an aside, if you have time go to the gardens on the roof of the terminal building. Very peaceful.

How hard is it to get to the MTR from the cruise terminal?
Certainly in February this year there was a shuttle bus from Kai Tak to the nearest MTR station. I'm pretty sure the station was Kwun Tong on the green line. I believe there was also a shuttle bus to Diamond Hill. See Map:

Kwun Tong is not just an MTR Station, it's also a shopping mall, the station is down below.

We used the MTR to get around Hong Kong. Very cheap, clean and efficient. Much quicker than road travel. We purchased Octopus cards which can also be used for all forms of public transport as well as in 7/11's and many other retail outlets. They are extremely good value for the over 65's. Cards can also be used on the Peak Tram, as well as the Airport Express. Station signs are all in English.

Hi Apial,
Check with your cruise company. We're on a Celebrity cruise next month, and have recently had an email from Celebrity telling us we must have a full tourist visa, otherwise we will not be permitted to board in Abu Dhabi. Technically you should be OK with an E-visa, but our experience of Indian beaurocracy is that things can change depending on the mood of the officials on the day!

Thank you for your replies

I cannot seem to find any list of wines by the glass that are available on the Classic Package.
Can anyone tell me if Carmenere by the glass is available on the Classic Package.
Thanks

Sainsburys do disposable Colombian coffee filters. Ten in a box each individually sealed, and they are flat. They have cardboard 'wings' which hook over the side of the cup. When used they pop back into the foil packet so no need to put down the sink/toilet etc.

We've just got back from an Adriatic cruise on the Star.
Our stateroom only had European round pin sockets and US flat pin sockets. No UK three pin sockets. We had an inside cabin on deck 12.

You don't mention what ship or date you are sailing but the following link should help:

Went to VFS Hounslow on Tuesday 8th, handed over our paperwork and Visas arrived this morning via courier. Absolutely amazed. Last time we applied by post and it took two weeks. Both our visas valid for 12 months, so we can get on with planning our next trip to India for February next year.

Hi,
We're thinking of booking Celebrity Constellation in November. She's in Abu Dhabi the weekend of the Grand Prix. Tickets to the Grand Prix are included in our fare but the travel agent tells me it cannot provide transfers to and from the race circuit. How far is it from port to circuit and how easy will it be to get a cab on race day. Thanks.

On Eclipse last November you could get martinis in the Martini bar on the classic package during happy hour, which if I remember correctly was from 4-5. Just about right when coming back on board.

We're also on the 1st July cruise. One question I have is whether to bring a tux. I've sen some comments that suggest even on formal nights many men don't bother and one commenter said he felt overdressed.
Also re the comments on drinks packages, we had the classic package on Eclipse last year and were able to get Martinis at the Martini bar during happy hour, which I seem to remember was from 4 to 5, just about the time we got back on board after a day out. Do they have happy hour on Constellation?

We are on Celebrity Eclipse sailing from Southampton in November, and docking in Cape Liberty overnight. What is the best way of getting from Cape Liberty to Downtown Manhattan. We would prefer a taxi or shuttle bus. Any idea of cost would be helpful as we are considering staying in a hotel overnight to maximise our time in NYC. Also are there any long delays with immigration?
Thanks

Transatlantic cabin advice please
in P&O Cruises ( UK )

If motion doesn’t bother you go for aft cabin. We had one on a recent transatlantic, when it was too windy on deck our balcony was sheltered and sunny.
