I met Bob as he was passing through Horizons on the first morning of our Sydney to Tokyo leg. I recognized him from his posts on this site and said, "BOB!" I knew his thought was, "Who is THIS??"; but he graciously stopped so I could thank him for his posts. Get strong again soon, Bob.

We got off the ship, wove through the members of the taxi union and happened upon Dusty. (Agoes Dusty - pdusty@hotmail.com) we said we wanted to hire him for four hours. He said $20 per person. Being more than a fair price, we hired him without negotiation. We went to the GWK statue that sits on a mountain looking over Bali. AMAZING! He then took us to a delightful restaurant (we bought him lunch) to the Uluwatu temple on a high cliff at the end of the island and then for the special local coffee. It was a fabulous, hot and humid, amazing day. Dusty is taking us out again today. We paid him $30 each at the end of SEVEN hours and he was amazed and thankful. His English was strong and the same for his attitude. We'll tip even more today. Great day!

I took a 6 hour long ship's tour to Bali Terraces and Ulun Danu Temple. Was okay...
The ship docks at the East Wharf Jetty, Benoa Port, Bali. There is a small number of vendor's at the terminal building, but it is a considerable distance to 'town'.'
I am quoting this from the "Current's":
"Due to the influence and strength of Bali's taxi union, a shuttle service is unavailable for Oceania Cruises and our guests. Although beyond our control, we regret any inconvenience this may cause in your visit to Bali."
Whether today was fairly mild...not too hot, but we did encounter scattered showers at various times.

My husband is disappointed that our cruise later this year doesn't include Komodo. But at least it includes Bali, which sounds like a very interesting place.

I agree. While I have enjoyed this thread and can see what a fun time the ATW's are having, this makes me very hesitant to ever book a segment. Too easy to feel like a second class passenger.
We’re joining you all in Sydney for the trip to Tokyo. Make room at the party for us, please. Here we come!

Oh dear...
We got on Insignia the day of this failed inspection. “Oh dear” is right! We had a lovely the days to Cuba — totally unaware of the galley problems. Everyone pitch in and scrub, please! See you all in Sydney.

And I was thinking, “Wow! Look at some of the young whippersnappers on this leg!”

Good question! Our next cruise is a “grand voyage”, but we’re doin back to back next May. We’ve been doin “grand voyages” since we’ve been shareholders, but will it check out what's possible in the spring unless we here that this would be hopeless!
