We will be taking grandkids 7&8 along with daughter and son in law on their first cruise next April.
It's been many years since we've sailed on Carnival and so many new things to learn about.
How do you reserve a Cabana on HMC and approximately what is the price?
I didn't even know you could rent them! My husband and son in law would enjoy the air conditioning :-)
Also...if you are going to book it do it as soon as possible. They tend to go pretty quickly, there are only 15 or so cabanas.

I've been thinking of doing the same. Never book that far out but we loved the Vista and so this makes sense as similar ship and won't have the airfare and hotel expense that we have with the vista.
We're in the PNW and airfare to Long Beach is cheap! Because of the frequency of flights and staying in the same time zone, we can fly in after work the night before the cruise and won't need to recover from jet lag after the fact. Of course, we might need to recover from Disneyland, because I'm tempted to stay a day for two and enjoy it after that cruise!

LOL different strokes. We sailed the Serenade in 2007 because of all the sea days. We are considering another one, and would love for the Panorama to do it.
Yes! We have discovered sea days are our thing! In fact, I'd be tempted to book a sea days only cruise! Lol

How are you guys booking for 2020, the website doesn't even go that far out? I would love to book now for 2020.
Use the filters and just choose the Panorama. It will allow you to book for 2020.

The cabanas are listed for rent under your "Excursions" online on your cruise manager. They hold up to 6 people. We paid $300, but I think that included the first four people. It may be extra for six. 2 drinks per person are included, which helps because even if you have a drink package, it doesnt work on the island. We always rent float mats and snorkels, but they were included with the cabana. The staff also brought out ice in a cooler (theres a fridge for drinks) and a platter of fruit, platter of veggies, a very large bag of tortilla chips, and four dips. It was pir 25th anniversary trip, so we splurged on the cabana. I will happily splurge again if I go back, especially if I can take my adult children with me. They would have loved it!
Once you book and pay, you have a cabana for sure, but you have to choose a cabana number and the deinksnyou want after you get on board. Make sure to go to the excursion desk ASAP once you board to choose your cabana number (unless old you dont care which one you get.

I am just not excited about Panorama. It just feels much too big to me but maybe I'll change my mind? We do the Mexican Riviera every year but we may have to change that if I can't get into the whole Panorama rah rah feeling.
Im.looking forward to a new and larger ship. We sailed a "new to us" class last cruise and enjoyed figuring out the new layout. Of course, we spent most of the time figuring out where everything was in relation to the serenity deck.;p

I have rented the clamshell. It's a great deal and I would highly recommend to anyone who doesnt want to pay the cabana price. We splurged on the cabana for our 25th anniversary and oh boy! Would do that again, as well! Air con, even with the open wall, the misting fan, the included drinks and snacks, the comfy loungers, the included float mats and snorkel gear, and the priority tender was totally worth the price to us!

We're not set to sail till June 2020. Ho
Hopefully, all works out beautifully for us. It's the first time we've planned a cruise more than 6 months in advance. The last one was booked only 40 days before sailing.

879 days in advance!!!
:')
I think I may officially be crazy.
DH and I have been talking the last few days about a 50th bday trip for me. I was researching rooms today and found two Havana Balcony Aft staterooms side by side and a 50% off deposit and VOILA...trip booked!
Now to count down the next 879 days.
We just booked for June 2020! Such a loooooong countdown! Lol

I've only been to HMC, but cannot imagine any beach coming close to being better. Not even the beaches I've been to in Hawaii. We had cabana 11. Would rent it again in a heartbeat.

We got off the ship the day you got on! We really enjoyed Mat as CD, and also found the Lido Deck to be small. It seemed large at first, with the different levels of chairs, bit then we realized it really wasn't. We spent a lot of time in the Serenity area. Found a hammock in front of the air conditioner. HEAVEN!

Hi all, thought you might like to see how we set up our interior cabin for 5 adult size people on our Carnival Ecstasy cruise last week. Here is a link to the 4 day Funtimes and the Circle C and Club O2 activities as well. We had a fantastic time! The entertainment was amazing (the production shows are not to be missed). Gary the CD was so funny and got the party going. He taught a Scottish Dance class that was so much fun. The food was excellent and so was the service. The live music was a big hit. If you are thinking about a cruise on the Ecstasy but worry because she is small and older, don't let that stop you. It was great!
We did this once. Short 4 night cruise and worked well for the teenage girls who shared the room. They only came over to use our bathroom a couple times.

My daughter will be cruising with me next week and I'm going to allow her to wander the ship without me this time (she's 12). I don't plan to buy the wifi package but it would be great if we could communicate in some manner.
I may be going crazy but I swear I read something about a $5/pp option to be able to text on board to other shipmates. I'd be willing to spend $10/week to be able to do this! Is this an option or did I make it up? Thanks in advance!
We used this and as long as you leave the app open, it works beautifully! We purchased on board directly through the HUB app.

Weeelllllll, we have spent $3500 for a Havana cabana (quite a bit more than a regular balcony would be) on the Vista and if there are people coming through without the bracelets I will be ticked!!!! It’s bad enough that they took out the swings....
They took out the swings?!?! Whyyyyyyy?

Lastly, I have heard some rumblings that the Panorama might not be going straight to Long Beach....we will see.
Bookings are open for 2020 on the Panorama out of Long Beach. Can they change it after the fact?

We choose late dining. We tend to eat late at home and with the time chmage from west to east coast, that feels better to us. We've also found we like a late afternoon nap and not feeling rushed to get somewhere. We have time afterward for the type of shows we like (theater, comedy club) so it works well for us.

Delivery charge? Plus tip? So what is the real cost?
We sailed on the 19th and did not have a delivery charge or tip added. We paid 4.50 for a 12 pack of water. We just told the room steward and the bottles were there when we cam back that night. I just double checked my bill. No extra charge.

FROM THE CARNIVAL WEBSITE (AND WAS ENFORCED ON OUR CRUISE) :
Guests are also prohibited from bringing water, sodas and other non-alcoholic beverages on board that are packaged in bottles.**A small quantity of non-alcoholic beverages (i.e., sparkling water, sodas, juice, milk) packaged in cans or cartons may be brought on board on embarkation day, only if carried on in guests’ hand luggage (not in checked luggage).**A small quantity is considered a maximum of 12 sealed, unopened cans/cartons of 12 ounces each or less per person.**Any hard liquor, beer, other forms of alcoholic beverage, and non-alcoholic beverages, outside of the exceptions referenced above, are strictly prohibited (in both carry-on and checked luggage) and such items will be confiscated and discarded and no compensation will be provided.

Hopefully this helps
https://www.carnival.com/FunShops/item/SP4/bottled-water-sm-bottles-12-pack
We order a starter amount ahead of time, have ready when arrive, then order as we go. I told the room steward we needed another 12 pack and we had it waiting for us in the room that night. Same charge as we had paid ahead of time for the first 12 pack and no room service fee.
-
Yes, I ordered it last week. I will say though it's more for the experience rather than the taste. Nothing on it was good. lol
Glad to hear someone else thinks that. I figured maybe it was just me. Quite the experience, but the look and taste both left something to be desired.
-
I keep seeing room service mentioned. Isn't it possible to buy water/soda in the shops and take it to your cabin yourself?
Not sure about that, but I do know it's the same price now as if you preordered. It used to be more expensive if you waited, but not any longer. Theres even a little note about it online when you order from the funshops. We order starter water and add as we go if needed.
-
Our fridge worked just fine. Room temp water was cold by evening. And yes, buckets of ice are available. Just let your room steward know.

Serenity IS on the ship. Two decks! Loungers, clam shells, hammocks, couches. Best Serenity deck we have used between the four ships we've been on.
Sorry, I don't have photos of the Fun Times. Anything specific you'd like to know? I might be able to help. We just cruised that itinerary last week.
New ship in 2020
in Carnival Cruise Lines

Sounds like the one going to Port Canaveral is not the Panorama. It will be their other new, bigger, as yet unnamed ship.
