  1. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Charleston in February. Was able to leave the car there and take their shuttle to the port. It was a great deal and very convenient.

    Hi--

Are there other downtown hotels that will allow you to park there during your cruise and possibly shuttle you to the terminal? I'd love to get recommendations as avoiding the chaos that is the port seems like it might be a good idea...

    Thanks!

  2. First off, I will say that I haven't gone to the Bahamas yet, but from the reading that I've done across the forums, it seems that the Atlantis is a fun thing to do with kids, but the waterslides don't open until 10 am (not a problem for you) and close at 5 if it's not peak season (you didn't mention when you were going). The day passes include this, as well as an aquarium which I think is also on property. The downside seems to be that the property is massive and it can take 15 minutes to move between the things that you're doing. It also seems to have pools. This was a helpful thread on the Atlantis: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1560154

It also seems like the Pirates of Nassau Museum has had a few folks suggest it; the information on Trip Advisor is a mixed bag, some saying that you'd need to really love pirates, some that it's great for kids.

Not sure if those suggestions are helpful to you or not, but that's what I've found. I'll keep checking in on this thread, because I'd love to hear more ideas!:D

  3. They even served us some island fruit from their yard - YUM. I highly recommend Marks tours.

We also toured with Mark Morris tours-- his wife led our tour and treated us very well given that I was 5 months pregnant and couldn't do many of the things that were offered as shore excursions. We loved the garden we toured (translated it means Paradise) and enjoyed walking across the waterfall (despite some fear on the part of the tour leaders that I'd fall). We also enjoyed going to see his Dad's pottery shop-- he let us see his workshop and kilns and his work is lovely! We were glad to have a tour guide who ran interference to make sure that no one was overly agressive in selling us things.

  4. We have used Crescencio twice now, the first time he was a substitute that was assigned to us when we had I think Alberto booked. When we had him last time he knew we had our little kids coming and they were seeing the ocean for the first time and a beach for playing was an important stop in all our sight seeing for the day. He brought the kids some sand toys to play with. He doesn't have a website or ask for a deposit but he does have a facebook page if people want to see pictures he has of people going on tours.

We also had a very positive experience with Crescencio-- we loved the Chocolate Factory (our favorite by far), he took us by several churches, and a nature area where we got to see a monkey and of course to several of the nice area photo ops. He also let us borrow his umbrella to see the ruins when the sky opened up (if you're going, take bug spray, they nearly ate us alive!)...

  5. You got your passport stamped here? Was it close to the port?

    Thx teddy

Our taxi driver took us two places before we found this, so I am not sure if it's close by or not, but the picture will help-- just asking your taxi driver does NOT mean that you'll get to the right place. It is *not* at the port. Good luck!
