  1. This will be my first time cruising on RC (Later this year) and the Cruise planner doesn't have any entertainment options available (they say 90 days before sailing). I would like to plan my meals now, but I do not know what the show times are. Can anyone give me an idea of the times for early shows and late shows (including comedy shows)? I will be on the Oasis.

    TIA!

  2. Well, my favorite NCL ship is probably the most controversial ship they own...the Epic. It was my first cruise (after taking a break for many years) and it holds a special place in my heart. The cruise was fabulous, the friends we met on that cruise (and are still friends with today) were fabulous, and our second trip on the Epic last November just confirmed that I still love the ship (even though it was a different experience that time around).

If you are looking for all the bells and whistles...definitely check out the Breakaway or Getaway...and of course the new Escape (which has even more to offer).

If you after looking to go tiny...my favorite is the Sun. It never felt like there were many on the Sun and I just loved the ship!

I also really like the Spirit! It's a one of a kind and has an Asian flare/decor to it...so you won't find another quite like it.

So...it just depends on what type of ship you like...big or small, loaded with the new-new or just simple. :D

Thank you for taking the time to respond. I just got off the magic and felt it was crowded at the buffet lines. I sailed on both the Liberty and Valor twice and loved that class. 2500 passengers vs 3500 is a big difference and not sure if I am sold on the larger ships. I had heard so many good things about the magic and was a little disappointed with the ship. With all that said, I dont like waiting in long lines to eat and if I want to go to a show, I want to go. I dont mind making a reservation if I need too. I am in the middle of reading your last epic review and it seems the boat is a tad bit crowded and a little slow on service in some areas. Also freestyle cruises seems to make reservations harder or impossible at some eateries. I am not extremely picky about food and I eat to live not live to eat. I will check out all of the ships you recommended. Again - thank you for taking the time to respond.

  3. I have only ever cruised Carnival and I am finally ready to branch out to other cruise lines. Why? I just got off the Magic and even thought my cruise was good, I experience some things that I have never experienced before. I always thought the dinner on the lido deck was terrible, it was the same on this cruise. The only difference was lack of terrible. Long lines because they didn't have enough buffet areas open. I found the ship to be someone dirty. I mostly experienced this on the Lido deck. It's like no one dusted or wiped things down anymore. The people on my floor were rowdy for the first few nights until the wee hours of the morning (never experienced that before). Just didn't like the feel of the crowd and the changes that Carnival has been making. That doesn't meant I will not cruise with Carnival again, it just means I am ready to check out some other lines. I did want to try the Havana cabin and will eventually do that in a few years.

  4. We went to Magen's Bay and sadly would not return again. It was crowded and not that great. We had to wait in line to 'rent' a chair for $7 and give a $5 deposit. Then we had to drag the chair to our area that we wanted to sit. Then we had to drag the chair back to the chair holding area to get our deposit back. Annoying. So much for a relaxing day at the beach. The bathrooms were somewhat clean though. I did not purchase any food from the concession stand but I did see the prices and they were not cheap.

Was this recently? I haven't been in a couple of years and it wasn't like this. They would put the chair in the location you wanted and there was no deposit. If this was recent then this makes me sad.

  5. OMG! These posts. Why can't people respect others opinions? I personally think that the aft pool should be adult only pools. Does that make me a bad person nope! I booked the Magic last year knowing they didn't have an all adult pool and I am cool with that. I did get a balcony room where I can retreat to when I get tired of the noise. Heck, I would love to gamble, but so much smoke is in the casino that I can't deal. Does that mean i need to book with another cruise line...NOPE. I know what I am getting into before booking. So for those who say, book another cruise line...well I have alot invested in Carnival so why should I at this point start all over? Does it make me a bad person because I would love to get into a pool and not be splashed endlessly? NOPE.

  6. Thank you all for this post. I have been hesitant to book this mainly because I have already paid for my vacation, but decided to give the steakhouse a go on my upcoming cruise in May. I do think it sucks that many of the cruise lines are going to specialty restaurants where you have to pay extra. This will be a special treat for my sweetie who is having back issues.

  7. Gourmet Gallery is inside the Havensight gates.

The liquor store across the street may have better prices but to me selection looked limited. Caribana inside the gates has good prices on liquor.

Very few snorkelers at Lindqvist but all the beaches have some fish.

Thank you Ms411. I will make a note of all of this. We don't arrive until 1130, so I might pack a sandwich from the ship to take with me, but at least i have an option with Gourmet Gallery.

  8. Good Morning everyone. This thread has been most helpful. I have been to St. Thomas 3x now and have always gone to Magens bay (because I love this beach so much). I don't mind a crowd and normally love being able to grab a drink at the bar. Since then, I have started bring my own cooler so I could really just carry my own beverages and pick up some food. So I am now thinking about going to Lindquist beach. I know its more on the quiet side and I am okay with that. I have a couple of questions. Is this a place where people tend to snorkel? I don't care anything about seeing fish while I am relaxing in the water and prefer not to see many. I think Blue water mentioned a deli. Is this deli near the dock where carnival docks? If so, is it inside the gates or do I have to walk outside the gates to find it? Lastly, does anyone know the best place to purchase alcohol to bring back home. There was this place across the street from the shops at the dock that had great prices, but I have seen other people talking about other places. Thank you all for your help.
