  1. Last year, we did the HOHO bus in the city, even though it is in our own backyard. We learned so much that we would consider doing it again. When we went, it was raining (something that is very rare around here) so people were staying on / riding the bus just to get out of the weather. It would have proven to be an excellent tour but think a lot of people didn't really even have tickets and were hopping on anyway...so it was crowded and noisy....There were also a lot of ugly tourists... some trying to talk over the tour guide and throwing trash all over the place....yuk...rude people trying to ruin it for others. But I wouldn't be discouraged from trying it again. You can look on discount sites for 1/2 price deals ... so worth it for us that we knew we would use it in the allotted time frame.

Although it did not travel out to the Presidio, it did a roundtrip tour around the city. Well worth the price...just wish we'd have gone when it wasn't so crowded.

Interested in the big bus, where would we find the 1/2 price site should I just google it????

  2. It helps a lot if you mention the hotel you'll be staying at in order to give you some reference points. There is a big Pueblo supermarket right next to the airport in Isla Verde and a Supermax across from the airport. It's easier to get to Supermax but it might be a bit more complicated to leave the area unless you pay close attention to the signs. Also the streets coming out of the Supermax area are in terrible conditions.

There is a Sam's store, Kmart, an Econo supermarket in a strip mall called Los Colobos IF you take road 3 east instead of the much faster (but twice tolled) route 66 east to el Yunque. There's a more accesible Walmart supercenter store in Canovanas just off the route 66 exit that leads to "The Outlets" mall. You'll see it to the left at the stoplight on the CORNER of the Outlet Mall.

If you want an "all in one" stop you'll need to detour west (oeste) at the end of road 26 towards Escorial Shopping center. There's Sam's, Walmart (supercenter) right next to each other as well as a Walgreen's, four banks (local) and tons of fast food chains. There's also a Costco across the street.

We are staying next week 3days at the embassy suites in isla verde right near the airport how far would all these stores be from our hotel ( could we walk it or have to cab) i

  3. When you check in at the desk (Hampton Inn Plantation), sign up for the shuttle to the port. You choose a time~~if there are a lot of cruisers, the manager will have more than one van. One time, she rented a bus for all of us, LOL ! :D All other times, we've had no problems having the shuttle take us to Port Everglades.

You can also have the shuttle pick you up at the airport if it's not too late (on arrival). We enjoy the Plantation area and this Hampton since it is close to many restaurants and shops~~for last minute items. :)

Thanks for the info we will do that as soon as we arrive

  4. Total Wine is on S. University Drive in Plantation.:D We walked there last time we stayed. The front desk will give you directions.

Yes, there is a mall across the street, too. :)

Thanks for the info do you how far the port is from the hotel ? They offe schudle service but by the review they are alway full so we thought we would take a cab instead thanks
