  1. We're recently back from a Bermuda trip and we were in the same area on deck 3. This was our second time in the exact same area on Summit. We really enjoyed this area. We had very little foot traffic past our room. There was little to no noise. It was close to the theater which we liked and didn't feel like it took long to get anywhere.

Edit : As for the view.... If you're going from an Oceanview on deck 3 to a veranda on 7 then the view is obviously different. But it also depends if you spend a lot of time on the veranda. We had a veranda on 7 one year and loved it but since then we've had oceanview rooms and we always go up on the top deck to get the best view.

  2. Rhayne - Thanks you - We were just hoping to find out if the location of the cabin was convenient, quiet and if it was any larger than the normal ocean view cabins. Hope you had a wonderful time. We leave in 15 weeks.

The cabin is right around a corner from the elevators but far enough away that you can't hear people getting off of them. I believe it's the same size as other ocean view cabins. It was fairly quiet. Across the hall is a little hallway with a Crew Members Only door which caused a little noise but nothing that bothered us. We're late sleepers so we did notice more noise between 10am-12noon. There's also little to no passenger foot traffic because there are only 4 cabins past 3009.

  3. Our very first year we booked 2 1/2 months before our cruise when rooms were aplenty. We chose to book a guaranteed oceanview room and when we got our room assignment 2 days later we were in a veranda. It was a sweet surprise since it was our first time on a cruise.

  4. Tons. We have sailed form Bayonne (Cape Liberty) 16 times. What do you need to know? Are you driving and parking, getting dropped off, taking taxi, cruise ship transfers? Check-in is just like any other port. You go through security then you are directed to the appropriate check-in counter, you check in and if boarding hasn't started yet you are directed to sit in a designated waiting area.

Are you in a suite, CC, Aqua Class cabin?

We are not in a suite, aqua class or any special cabin. We are captain club members though.

We are being dropped off by a family member. We live near the port so there are no transfers. We've never checked in at any other port before and we've always done online check-in in the past.

Is there anything extra we need to bring? In the past we've only had our xpress pass, the printed out booklet, our passports and drivers licences and the credit card we booked with.

I guess I'm just worried about how much extra time it takes.

EDIT: We missed the window for online check in this year because we booked super last minute.

  5. I've read and I understand the new evening chic policy but I still need a little help.

My boyfriend and I don't get dressed up in tuxes and ballgowns but we always adhere by the dress codes on the ship. With this new policy I'm confused. I have two dresses that I'd like some opinions on.

Suit Dress with silver zipper detail on side (mine is actually heather grey but i could only find a blue version online). I think with some dressy shoes and a shawl or jewelry this could be dressy enough for a evening chic night.

Polka dot dress. I bought this dress to just have as a casual dress but i find it's too dressy for most places. I'm not sure I could wear this on evening chic night but I'm sure it's fine for the casual nights.

Has anyone who is recently back seen dresses like these on evening chic or casual nights?

  7. Another curious question...

I know that the classic package allows for alcoholic drinks up to 8 dollars and beers up to 6 but what about other drinks? If i weren't on a plan, what is the price of a can of soda? What is the price of a bottle of water? What is the price of a cappuccino?

I'm trying to calculate what we'd drink in a day to see if the classic package is right for us. But without exact prices I can only guess and that annoys me.

Has anyone been on a recent sailing and weren't on a drink package so they can tell me how much things really cost?

  8. You sound like you have been sailing with Carnival, why, they have and enforce a drink number limit.

There is no such thing on Celebrity!

Last Nov we had 7 pages of ZERO drink line items on our final statement.

Nah. I've only sailed on Celebrity. This year is our 4th time. We've never had the packages though. I keep feeling like i'm going to make a mistake and someone won't tell me so I'll end up back in my room later in the evening and see charges on my account. :)

  9. Thanks for all the info so far.

    Another question:

This is our first time with a drink package. This may sound stupid but how do I order? If I go up to a bar and order, do they take my seapass and find out that I have the classic package and make my drink according to the liquor that is included in the package? Or do I have to tell them as I'm ordering that it's a classic package? Same question goes for when we order in the theater. Do they check before they make the drinks?

  10. I have one other question.

On the Celebrity site on the packages page it says "An 18% service charge will be added to Soda, Wine, Water, Classic and Premium Package prices at checkout."

What does this mean? And how does it apply when you're picking a Free perk?

  11. We're currently booking and going to be choosing the Classic drink package. I've read a lot about the packages and I understand what sort of drinks are included. My question is how MANY are included? For example: Can i drink as many bottles of water I want in a day? Can I drink 3 or 4 cokes with dinner? Can I have 2 alcoholic drinks by the pool and then one with dinner and then two with the evening's show? Or do they cap how much you can drink in a day?

I wouldn't drink that much EVER but I also don't wanna go over a limit if there is one.

  12. Never been to NY or been on the Summit.

Thinking of end August next year. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

My hubby and I go on one major vacation a year. This year will be our 4th cruise to Bermuda on the Summit. We always go in July so i can't comment on the weather. But the Summit is a wonderful ship. It's laid back but there are nights with parties and music. The staff is awesome (and a bit overworked) but they always have a smile on their face and always ready to help you. We're NJ residents and the embarkation is smooth and fast. In the past we've arrived both early and late and still made it through all the check ins and procedures quickly and without problems.

Overall I vote for the Summit going to Bermuda!

  13. Log in and click on "Manage Reservation".

Scroll down to where it says dining preferences. There should be

an "edit" in light blue. Click on it.

Scroll down to the special occasions section and add your celebration.

    That is it!:D

Hooray! I have no idea how i was missing it. Thank you so much.

  14. I just realized that our reservation doesn't have our anniversary listed. We have select dining so we can choose each day when we want to eat instead of being on a schedule. I know last year when we made the reservation there was a place to add special occasions. Is there nowhere to add it now that we've already booked? We booked directly from Celebrity so I do not have a TA to call and ask.

  15. My BF and I have been on 2 cruises (third one coming at the end of this week) and we've seen decorations on doors on both cruises. I never thought of them as "look at me, look at me" OR tacky. I always just thought they were fun and festive. I always try to imagine how they decorate their homes for holidays and birthdays. I consider the door decorations the same way I would house decorations. I see them, I admire them, my BF and I comment about them if we like or don't like them and we move on. I don't think they've taken away from my enjoyment of any cruise. To me (in my opinion) that would be like me saying someones Christmas lights take away from a street because I don't believe in decorating for Christmas. As long as the decorations aren't pushing someones beliefs on me or as long as they aren't hateful or nasty then I don't mind them. If you don't like them, don't look at them. Thats all my opinions though.

  16. In 2013 my BF and I were on the Summit in late July and it happened to coincide with our anniversary. We were invited to a party in the Revelations lounge for couples who were celebrating an anniversary. There were drinks and light snacks as well as a lovely cake. Last year (2014) we were on the cruise at the same time and there was no party invite. Did they stop doing the little party or does it depend on how many people register their anniversaries?
