  1. Most character meets to do have to booked ahead of time. The Personal navigator will list the meets time and places, so just show up a few minutes early to get in line. Frozen characters and the Princess gathering (usually 3-4 princesses you meet in a row) require free tickets that you reserve online. If they are “sold out” the first time you check, keep checking back as people change plans all the time.

Every time I have waitlisted early dining, DCL has been able to change us. Dining rotation doesn’t matter to me - we actually skip the main dining rooms a lot - but with a 6 night cruise, your family will be in each restaurant twice.

We have haven’t done a Xmas cruise, but your family will have a great time!

  2. They should have a bunch of new classes available to book once you are on board the ship. We usually book our cruises last minutes, so the online tastings are usually filled. The Personal Navigator you get will tell you where to go to book them. I’ve done mixology, wine, champagne, and tequila/margarita tastings, and all of them have been fun and informative.

They will not take walk-ups, so make sure you book online if something opens up or your first afternoon on the ship. 3 people tried to walk-up to our tequila tasting, but the bartender had to turn them away.

  3. My family is thinking about taking our first Carnival cruise on the Magic next year. We have only cruised on Disney, where the kids clubs have a large age range so my kids are used to being together. It looks like Carnival divides the kids up into smaller age groups. My girls would be 4 and 6 at the time of our cruise, so will they be separated any time they are in the kids clubs? Do the different age groups ever do activities together?

  4. Hi Everyone,

I hoping that someone will be able to help me with planning an Alaskan cruise this August. I have 2 girls who are 4 and 6 years old, and I'm having trouble deciding which cruise line is the best for kids in Alaska. We have been one several Disney cruises, but, due to the cost of their Alaskan cruises, we want to try a different line.

I've checked out several cruise line's websites, but it is hard to tell how welcoming to kids a ship is just by their website. Does anyone have any experience taking younger kids on an Alaskan cruise?

  5. My family is thinking about booking a 5 night Western Caribbean cruise on the Brilliance in Jan 2016. My older daughter will be a few days shy of 5, and my youngervdaughter will have her 3rd birthday on the cruise. Does anyone have any experience with the kids clubs for preschoolers. We have done 2 Disney cruises in the past, and my oldest was a little overwhelmed by the Disney clubs and the wide age range (3-12) permitted in the club. My younger daughter was in the nursery, and it was great. We just want to be able to get in a little adult time on our vacation!

  6. I was wondering if anyone had any recent experience with the kids programming and kids clubs on the Valor? My family is thinking about booking a Western Caribbean cruisese on the Valor in Jan 2016. My girls will be turning 3 the week of the cruise and a few days shy of 5.

We have done 2 Disney cruises with them in the past, but they are so pricey. I also like that CArnival has More age divisions in the kids clubs.
