  1. I get what everyone is saying about the shortages.  It's happening with lots of products right now.  My issue is that they have the bottles available to purchase.  They've already made their money on the drink packages so they aren't worried about having the listed alcohols.  If they can sell the bottles then it's more money for them.  IMO it's pretty crappy on RCs part.

But if they have been doing it for the past 8 years and you know about it, is it?

I'm new to RC so I didn't know.  I assume I'm the person they're targeting with that so yes, it's false advertisement.  Not in a legal sense, but they're clearly trying to entice you with a nonexistent sale.

Rcl is infamous for sales that arent really sales.

This is will be our first time on RC but I was just thinking this.  They sent an email with a great "St. Patrick's Day" sale but it was exactly the same price as it was before the sale.

The FCCs can be spent like cash at current market rates. There is no carryover of benefits, stateroom assignments, etc. If minisuites are more expensive in the future, you'll have to pay more for a minisuite or downgrade to a cheaper stateroom. If minisuites are cheaper you can upgrade to a higher stateroom category.

Thanks!  I figured that was the case.  I hope they don't go up too much but the longer they're out of service, the more money they'll need to make up.

  5. I have my first cruise on NCL coming up.  I saw that they're offering refunds or future credit.  I'm thinking cruise prices will go up after all of this.  I get it, they're losing lots of money right now and need to make it back.  My question is, if I booked the same cruise but on a different date, would I still get what I've paid for on my current cruise?  Meaning, if I paid for a mini suite would I still get that or, if the price I paid is now the price of an interior room, would I be downgraded?  I hope that makes sense.

We have a 15 day on the Jade, Rome to Amsterday, scheduled for May 1-16.  NCL just sent me an Upgrade Advantage email to try to get me to bid for a cabin upgrade!

NCL also says they would never sail to a country under a Level 4 travel warning.  If that is true, they can't sail anywhere right now, because the State Dept put the entire globe under a Level 4 warning.  Waiting for them to cancel to claim a refund.....

I'm on the Jade out of Amsterdam on the 16th.  I think it will be cancelled.  Even if things are better in the US, it's doubtful all those countries will be opening their ports anytime soon.  There's no point in a 14 day cruise that can't stop anywhere.

Please note that Covid-19 is NOT airborne.

Recently some sources are saying that it could be and the rumor mill has turned that into "OMG it's airborne".  I'm not dragging the person who posted that.  I'm just saying that they've probably heard that somewhere.  Everything is changing so fast that it's hard to keep up.

  8. We did this itinerary last summer with our kids 10, 17. We didn't book any excursions through Carnival.

Cozumel - Mr. Sanchos. We did the all inclusive beach day and liked it. We've also taken a cab to Chankanaab and sat on the beach and had just as much fun. It was much more crowded than Mr. Sanchos though.

Belize - Cave tubing and ATVs through cave-tubing. com. The best excursion of the trip. They also offer ziplining. They pick you up in a bus and return you in plenty of time. Even the bus ride was fun. It includes lunch and snacks and drinks are reasonable priced.

Roatan - Private tour through Victor Boden. Driver took us around the island, a very quiet snorkeling spot and to the company's place where the kids ziplined and we got to visit the monkeys. You actually get to go in the cages and they'll sit on your shoulder, head. Great fun and photo ops!

Costa Maya - We went to the ruins and they were okay. If you have kids they may find it boring.

  9. We just booked, cruise in one month, and have no idea what we're doing when we get there. :o The banana boat sounds fun. I have an 11 yo and am looking for things that are fun for kids.

  10. It's not always about that pedophile lurking around trying to "get" your child. A couple of things I noticed on our last cruise -

A 9 year old my son had met playing ping pong was out alone several nights past 11:00 or 12:00. He was obviously bored and was inserting himself into adult groups and conversations of total strangers. One night there was a group in their 20s. They were very drunk and talking about things I wouldn't want my son to hear. He was rude and obnoxious and they finally left to get away from him.

A group of kids were daring each other (or so it seemed) to climb over the rails. Not the side of the ship, just the ones behind the big screen. If they had fallen they still could have been hurt. Most of them were probably good kids and normally responsible but when you get kids in a group they convince each other that bad ideas are good ones. I would never think to tell my child "be sure you don't climb over the rail" before we parted and, while I hope he would have sense enough not to do that, at 10 years old it could probably go either way.

  11. We are doing this soon... Create a score card with points value based on complexity... then have participating people use digital cameras to show proof!

Like Life Preserver 20pts picture proof

Do you have your list together already? Do you mind sharing? I'm working on one for a cruise in June.

  12. Looking at a Drag Deck feature on a pay website it looks like your cabins are above the Hat Trick Bar and FunHub. They are open very late and you may hear some noise. You will also look down on the Lanai - not a great view.

I agree. We were above the nightclub on our last cruise and we could hear the thumping of the music, even with the tv on. If you have any light sleepers you should rethink your room choice.
