  1. A group of friends and I went on a cruise to Moreton Island last year. We booked the wrecks tour because we didn't bring our own snorkels. Depending on your level of fitness and the tide, it really helps to have flippers.

It's a great experience and I'm glad I got to do it.

It's an easy walk to get there and you pass lots of food tents etc. You also have the use of the swimming pools at the resort.

  2. Where abouts do we land when we tender from the ship? Tangalooma Resort.

Can you snorkel the wrecks without having to do a ship tour?

Yes, just a short walk along the beach to the site, altho take care as current can be strong there

What is the buffet like and opening times?

Buffet opens 6amish till 11am and then again from 11.30am thru to about 9pm. Food ok.

Thanks for answering my questions. Unfortunately I was already onboard and sailing by then lol!

  3. Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has cruised to Moreton Island before?

I would like a few questions answered if anyone can help me:

1: Where abouts do we land when we tender from the ship?

2: Can you snorkle the wrecks without having to do a ship tour?

3: Is there anyone you can recommend for tours on the island?

4: (never been on any p&o) What is the buffet like and opening times?

5: Is there good entertainment on the boat?

I have so many more questions. I am travelling with myself and 5 friends who have never cruised at all. I've only travelled twice with Royal Caribbean. I would just love some info as I can't seem to find too much.

    Cheers

    Beck

  4. The photos in the brochures or online are VERY representative of what you'll get. No...it's not "trick" photography....the cabins ARE that small! Hopefully, your kids are tiny! If the other 2 in your cabin are not kids...well, god help you.

They are far from small and as a family of four (2 large adults a teenager and a 10 year old), we found it more than comfortable.

We were very happy with our cabin as we used ours for sleeping, extra showering after day trips etc but not to spend our entire trip in. The ship has way too much to offer.

Each to their own but Lou was asking for pictures of a quad room not an opinion on how small you believe it to be. I can really see how you manage to accumulate so many posts now.

  5. Hi,

I have just order the premium drink package and I have been searching around for the $ amounts on the cocktails etc. I found this on royalcaribbean.com.au's FAQ:

Could anyone please confirm whether the Premium Package prices are correct? I read on other sites where it is $10 for cocktails and $12 for wine.

I would just like to know before I sail in 3 weeks.

    Thanks

  6. Sounds like you have a lot of irresponsible friends...

That is a bit self-righteous to call them irresponsible when you do not know their circumstance!

Young people (and old) can make some rash decisions and some aren't as strong as others in managing their finances. So get off your high horse!

  7. You have to do the same thing for BOTH options. Both use the Sea-Pass to buy stuff.

You want to budget your spending. With a credit card, you monitor the spending so you do not go over your budget. With cash, you monitor the spending so you do not run out of money in your account.

Sounds like the same monitoring effort except that the credit card is a lot less hassle.

And yet, I know many people who spend unnecessarily using their credit card and think they will be able to pay it off by the next statement when they can't. I have seen them getting loans to pay off a credit card debt.

So, yes, you SHOULD do the same for BOTH but that isn't always the case. You can't spend any more cash than you carry but you can always add extra's to a credit card and have the hassle when your statement comes in the next month.

  8. Don't understand the logic in your argument. Controlling your spending is simply a matter of self-control and monitoring the balance of your on-board spending. Then just pay off the credit card when the bill arrives a month or so later.

To me, it would be very embarrassing to be buying something on-board with lots of other people around you and being told that you can not buy it because you over-spent your cash account.

Not everybody has self-control but using cash will make you more aware of how much you are spending so you can pay it off as you go along.

I will also be using cash on my upcoming cruise. There will be no embarrassing moments for me because of overspending.

  9. To run up her post count obviously :p Agreed. NOT helpful to the OP at all. You wont be getting a reply from her.

But to get back on topic, I see some are mentioning honey stung chicken. I think it has been established that even though it is still on the room service menu, HSC has been discontinued fleet wide.

I want to try the Bistro burger off the room service menu.

When was the HSC discontinued? We ordered it from room service on our December cruise last year on the Radiance. I really liked it :(. Is it also removed from the buffet on the first day?

  10. I found this in the FAQ's section, hope it helps:

  11. I don't have all the details but on our news here this morning they are saying Carnival Magic has been stopped from entering any port due to someone who was sailing with suspected Ebola.

Like I said I just heard a bit of it as I turned it on before.
