  1. Cartwheel practice? :D

We had to ask our bulter once and always had a pitcher of OJ and Cranberry in our fridge at all times to use as mixers for our bar setup. We had breakfast about 4 timess on in the room on our 7 day cruise and dinner from the MDR once. Ravi even took our DD broken 21st birthday crown and had it fixed. They can do almost anything! :)

    Ravi, CAN do anything. ;)

  2. Thanks

I've seen how they can really toss your luggage around. Since they don't work for NCL I guess they could care less. Is their anyway to hand carry all your luggage on after going thru scanners?

If it can fit through the x-ray scanners you can carry it on. Be aware that this is limited to "carry-on" size luggage.

  3. halos, I agree. I don't know or care what they make but it requires being away from family and friends for months on end AND the hours are long and the work is hard. They deserve whatever it is!!!

Also, they work for a number of months and then they are off for a while. Doesn't that mean that what they make while on board has to be stretched out to cover those months when they are home waiting for a new contract offer?

If they want a "next" contract they have it in hand before they leave for vacation.

  4. I bought an Eco Drive for my husband on NCL Dawn. I had priced it here and checked in some ports and did the best on the ship.

Sometimes you need to do your homework as I have also heard that for many things the you can do better in ports.

Trust me I did my homework, and I did much better than the ship's price. So much so, that they said there was no way they could match the price.

Glad you got the price that worked for you.

  5. Thanks for a detailed and thorought response.

I'm looking for a Citizens Eco Drive. The one I have my eye on lists for $250 but I have found online and locally for $180. Hoping to beat that price.

    Thanks again.

If your cruise is taking you to St. Thomas I would recommend contacting Dynasty/Dazzlers in Havensight. That is where I got my Eco Drive for about half the price of my local place and it is duty free also. Just Google Dazzlers St. Thomas. They are the first store on your left as you exit the dock area. Ask for Raj or Bimla. I would contact them prior to going to make sure they have what you want in stock.

  6. But are those REAL watches?

There have been posts about counterfeit cigars, how about counterfeit watches? it does happen.

Not if you go to reputable stores and know what you are looking for. I paid about 1/2 for a Citizen Eco Drive in St. Thomas.

  7. 1st time on NCL and crusing the Dawn in Feb. Hoping to purchase a watch and wondered if NCL ever has watch sales. Carnival would have watch sales on board and would put out tables of them with varying prices.

    Thanks!

Yes, they will have sales. But, you no doubt will find better prices in most of the ports you visit.

  8. Actually, the *true* vintage glasses were made of... glass! (What a concept, huh?) I had two from my very first cruise, which was on the wonderful Norway back in 1987. They might still exist-- I gave them, along with a ton of other stuff, to charity 10 years later after my divorce, when I sold my house. I got a couple of the plastic hurricanes on my latest cruise to make up for that. :)

We still have a couple of the glass one from the Norway also in 1989.

  9.

    2. Pick up all specialty glasses to be washed and resold from both the bars and pool area unless the customer specifically asks otherwise.

If you leave a souvenir glass laying around they will be picked up' date=' but [b']I don't believed they are washed and reused, as I said I don't know but I will ask the question.[/b] The same goes with souvenir glasses in your cabin, if a dirty glass is laying around in your cabin it will be removed.

why wouldn't they wash them and re sell them? whats the difference regular glasses get washed and resold. unless the lettering or picture is damaged I don't see why they wouldn't.

According to two Hotel Directors (one being on the Epic), souvenir glasses are never washed and re-sold, they are discarded as trash. The only way you will see one being washed is if it being returned to a guest clean.

  10. Hard to tell how much they hold because of the shape. i'd bet the volume you get in the souvenir glass is exactly the same as what you get in a highball glass.

Depending on the size of glass that you get the souvenir glasses will have a little more capacity. Some of the bars have "taller" glasses for cocktails but their regular glass is a true lowball glass, and the souvenir glass will serve about a third again more than this smaller glass.

  11. That's correct. This applies to the foo foo drinks only. Not martinis and not the simple "rum and coke" type drinks. I can't address what's done on other ships, only on Epic and only last week.

Along with your original post this post is completely inaccurate. You can have any drink you would like in a souvenir glass and pay the appropriate difference in price if you so choose. That price includes keeping the glass as a souvenir, hence the name souvenir.

If you leave a souvenir glass laying around they will be picked up, but I don't believed they are washed and reused, as I said I don't know but I will ask the question. The same goes with souvenir glasses in your cabin, if a dirty glass is laying around in your cabin it will be removed.

  12. Double standard schmouble standard. I'm a woman and this wouldn't bother me, so I feel quite confident that if I were a man I would feel the same way - and like Silkhair, I'd have fun with it. In fact, I have to admit that as I read the thread, I was thinking of ways to have fun with it anyway!! I think it would be great fun to go in with my husband (after he checks for other passengers, of course) and pretend to start getting 'naughty', then look over at the other ship as if just noticing that it's there, look shocked and embarrassed and then leave laughing. :p

As a wife, I'll be telling my husband about it and also sharing my idea - I doubt we'll act it out, but I know it will give him a chuckle. :p

As a parent, I will be reminding my daughter that when she can see OUT a window, it's very likely that others can see IN the window, and to be aware of what she's doing. :)

The best 'bathroom window' I ever heard of was in the Fireworks Factory, a restaurant that used to be at Disney's Pleasure Island. In the men's room, there was a window along the entire wall that backed the mirror behind the bar. My husband said it was quite disconcerting to stand at the urinal with a full view of the bar and all the patrons sitting at it!

Give up, it is not worth the effort.

  13. Hear goes a really inane description of what I mean. It's like a rolled strip all around the mattress...all along top edge and also the bottom edge. I'm sure it has a better name but all I can think of is edging or binding. It's sewn real tight and so you have to pull it out/back just a little to see along the inside of it.

If you are talking about the rolled seam where the top is connected to the sides of the mattress...it is called the mattress piping.

  14. Planer's Edge,

How about the concierge & HD mid March on the Pearl?

Thanks for any info you can share!

I am not sure who is filling in for Denis as Hotel Director. But, the Concierge right now is Erika Heim. I do not have Alex's exact schedule right now. I was told he would on board for our April 12th sailing.

No matter who you have you will be very well taken care of. Alex is legendary when it comes to his abilities and personality. Erika is as professional and personable. She just hasn't been around as long as Alex. Believe me she will rate right along with Carlos, Alex, Karan, Anca, Ruth and Anshuman in the not too distant future. I am sure ther are others that belong on this list. These are just the ones I know.

  15. For your May cruise the HD should be Denis Prguda and Concierge should be Alex Forbes.

Denis is on vacation right now but will be back for our 4/12 sailing.

Alex is on the GEm doing vacation filler before he takes over the Pearl in late March.
