If you enjoy history.. Clifton Heritage National Park was very interesting  The driver that picked us up at port gave us a great history of Nassau and the bahamas.  The tour of the slave plantation and the history was something I never knew about.

there is also snorkeling with underwater statues.

Check out the Sky Princess for Sept 26 2020.  RT from New York.  Bay of fundy in port 10am - 10:45pm.  Tidal reports list low tide  8pm so time to see and make back to the ship.

I was just in Vancouver and not there.  

April 2019 - World-wide ride-share company Uber met with city staff of Saint John, Fredericton and Moncton to chat about potential for the service to operate in the province. The meetings, which took place in Saint John, aimed to talk about the potential for Uber to set up shop and the current bylaws from each city. Currently, Uber’s service is not available anywhere in Atlantic Canada.

There is no Uber or Lyft in Canada.  (yet)

Our very first cruise was to Alaska in 2014 on the Westerdam.  This was our 3rd trip to Alaska and we went back to Holland.  It was amazing!  I think the passengers can make the cruise fun and we had some really great fellow cruisers.  Ages from 20s - 70s but all young at heart and ready for fun.

Boarding:  was easy.  got to the port by 11AM and on board by noon.  

Room: 7079 Signature Suite.  Perfect size and balcony had lots of room with two loungers and table.  It was pretty warm the entire trip so we used the balcony a lot.

Entertainment:  BB King was fantastic.  This group had been together for the last 5 months and this was their last week and then a new group was coming.  They really got the crowd going and dancing.  They do three sessions each night 8:30/ 9:30 and 10:30 with a 15 minute break in between.  We got their early for the first show to get a seat and never left.  

The string quartet was fabulous as well.  They were from Russia and really sounded like a recording.  Just beautiful

We went to one variety show and a dancer was injured due to the rocking of the ship.  They ended up cancelling the second show.  Two nights were pretty rocky during the week.

Spa:  I got the salt water spa package with the heated spa lounger.  It is $136 on line, but I waited too long and couldn't book before I left.  When I went to sign up, they wanted to charge me $215, then after i protested $169 but finally got them to $136.  I felt the workers at the spa were a bit snooty and not very helpful.  There is also no water available to drink.  So be sure to bring your own.  Really loved the salt water after a day of touring. 

Excursions:  We did the Tracy Inlet cruise and it was amazing.  Rained most of the time, but the views were spectacular.  We saw a "herd"? of sea lions and their babies splashing in the water.  Must have been about 50 of them.   a lot of harbor seals and one whale.  

Afterwards we we took the tram up Mt. Roberts and had dinner.  Food was OK.  Views were spectacular.  

The train/bus tour in Skagway.  I messed up and had the bus portion first and then the train coming back.  I would do the RT train if I had to do it over.  The train has nicer views IMO  and much more comfortable than the bus.  There is also supposed to be a club car with big plush chairs.  I'd look into that option.

Ketchikan:  We did the Ketchikan Taxi cab tour with Tim White.  Went to herring cove which is beautiful and to Potach park to see the Totems.  Also went to the Rotary park.  Saw lots of eagles.  Didn't see any bears this time.   Then went to a Jazz club in town.  Good times

Food:  We ate in the main dining room the first night.  Then Rudy's on Thursday night.  This is the one night special chef deal.  It was incredible!  The remainder we ate in the buffet.  Had the pizza and brought to our balcony.  Also had the burger at the Dive In.  They were very good as were the french fries.

Casino:  My husband played the slots.  (his addiction) and won $910.00.  So I'd say the slots are fairly loose.  

disembarking:  We had an early flight so we did the self walk off.  It was easy.   Lines were long at customs as there were 4 ships in port.  But moved fairly quickly.

My husband read your review and said "this guy had the same experience we did".  You get flamed on here for not liking a cruise, it seems.  We found the food horrible and boring.  The ship a mish mash although very beautiful.  No quiet place for adults to use the pool.  the Jungle pool filled with kids and the rear adult pool filled with smokers.  the pool guards and their incessant whistles was ridiculous.    

We found the Piazza, which is usually the heart of the ship, dull and boring.  Nothing seemed to ever be going on here.  The one night they had a guitar player who put everyone to sleep.  

Bar service non existent.  

But coffee and chocolate to die for.  I wish the NCL, Princess and Celebrity had such great coffee. Not that fake stuff.

MSC is definitely not the product for us.

I just had to cancel my cruise two days ago on the Royal that left today, sniff... my husband has been in the hospital since November 25, and should still be there for another 4 or 5 days.

 

I already have received the EZ Air back, minus cancellation fee, and all incidentals like a coffee card! Now, I'm waiting for Aon to process the rest. I couldn't believe how fast Princess processed the reimbursement! I will never travel without it again!

Nina so sorry to hear about your husband. Wishing him a speedy recovery.

Cancelling a cruise was really depressing. I didn't expect to feel so sad. But now we have the funds to plan the next one.

Good to know! Was your claim based on medical? How long was it processed?

Yes it was based on medical. There is a form your doctor fills out. It took 3 weeks to get the refund. They even apologized for the delay because they said they had so many claims due to the hurricanes. I thought 3 weeks was fabulous.

Recently we cancelled our cruise for a California Coastal due to my asthma and the fires in the region. Smoke is one of the worst triggers to my asthma attacks.

The trip insurance paid everything in full... cruise, airfare and all non refundable excursions.

I've often wondered if I was wasting money buying insurance,., but I will never travel without it.

We were on the POA Sept 2- 9 2017. The ship is in fine shape, service excellent. We didn't experience any issues. Great selection at the buffet, Had the 3 specialty restaurnt package and all the restaurants had great food and service. Each Island is so unique . We would definitely do this cruise again.

I just love this site! We booked the drive/walk tour last night and cancelled our car rental.

If anyone else is on the POA on Sept 2nd, Kaui Photo tours is looking for 2 additional people for this tour.

They will pick up at the pier 10:30 am $30 additional for pick up and drop off.

We've been thinking about this cruise for quite some time. Been reading all the info on the board and we were very impressed with all the insight and suggestions from the posters. After following this thread and reading PG response, we are definitely scheduling a cruise on PG. What a class act!

Our cruise will be in 2018. Can't wait

We had our first aft on the Jewel. The balcony is large but it was Hot Hot Hot! We were in the center 7180. Never again. No air flow at all.

Also the room and the bed vibrated all night from the engines.

We tried it and now going back to our regular balcony.

We were on the Regal in Nov. D629 - "I'm da wife that loses her bearings". Quiet. Near the stairs/elevator. Close to laundry but not too close.

Also love the Coral - Vancouver to Whittier. Rent a car in Skagway and take your time. Get Murphy's Guide on line it is a great tool for the drive.
