I think I heard 1492 in the background!

Susanne,
Thanks for the response. We are looking forward to be back on the Surf in March
-
Susanne,
Who is the Captain and who is the Chef onboard the Surf, and will they still be there when we board in Barbados on March 4th?
Thanks

Marmalade restaurant in San Juan is fantastic. It is within walking distance from where the ships dock. It is pricey but well worth it. Get reservations and go with a group, lots of fun
Beer and wine are not complimentary on Windstar
-
They also have Coke Zero

Mariners,
I forgot to ask if you attended the Joe Novitski lecture on the 9th.
Did he talk about his book about the building of the Wind Star?
His book was fantastic.
Thanks

Really enjoying your posts. I am living vicariously through them.
Who is the captain? On our Wind Star trip from Civitavecchia to Lisbon our captain was Belinda Bennett and she was terrific.
Thanks

This is also on the Windstar website. However, I wouldn't want to be standing on the pier as the ship is sailing away
"Guests who show up at embarkation without a negative test result in hand will be administered an antigen test by Windstar and charged a $69 fee."

Shop around for a TA that will give you some OBC
Sail on the Wind Surf out of St. Maarten. Your first cruise on Windstar in the Caribbean should be with sails.
Book a Star Collector cruise, you will get the laundry package for free. You will only need one suit case and you will come home with no laundry to do.
Fly in a day early and stay at the Holland House with a room facing the bay. Wake up early and see the Wind Surf sail in. Take the water taxi from the Holland House to the ship. You can walk to the ship from the Holland House, but the water taxi over is fun.
I think there are still some cabins available on the 12/27/22 18 day sailing on the Surf. Spend New Years at sea

The gap is the stairwell between decks.
We were in 626 on the Breeze, which is next to the stairwell and elevator, and thought it was a great location. We did not hear any noise from the elevator or the stairwell.

Has anyone heard the covid status of the five other Windstar ships?
Were we the only lucky ones that had an outbreak?
-
We were tested on the ship the night before we arrived in Cabo San Lucas. We received the results in a form stating we were negative. When we arrived at the airport in Cabo, we had to fill out an attestation form on line saying we have tested negative. No one at the airlines checked to make sure we were telling the truth. No one at the airport checked our vaccination cards either.

My postcard was a picture of the Wind Surf and arrived last week from Aruba. My birthday is a month away. It was signed by one of the musicians.
We can't wait to get back on board.

We were there in 2015, and like r&rd is still one of our favorite ports.
The shuttle bus was very close to the tender drop off and back then cost half a euro each way.
Be sure to visit the Malva Gallery just inside the main gate, the owner is a very talented artist.
Also, be sure to hike up through the town. We went to the top of the hill and the view is amazing.

Bigkahuna,
We have been on the Wind Star, which is the sister ship of the Spirit and really like it. We are thinking about the 17 day trip on the Spirit starting on November 21st. How is the weather that time of year?

Jimmy Buffett once said, "There's no dumb ass vaccine." Unfortunately, even if there was, they wouldn't get it.

Thanks to you all. We have a September 2021 booking. I called our TA and Windstar is applying the additional 5% private sale discount! Thanks again.

Anyone booked Non Ship tours on Mahon Spain, Calvi / Corsica France, Bastia/Corisac france or Portoferraio Italy ? If so with who and what is the price and website?
Thanks in advance for your response :):)
Spanky, We will be on the Wind Star on October 20th and are looking for the same tours, hopefully you will get some answers.
Thanks

We were on the Star Pride in December 2014 and had the same problem. Windstar in Seattle was no help and neither was our TA. We finally decided to get the full visa from the Vietnamese Consulate in San Francisco that cost $100 each.
At our first port in Vietnam customs officials came on board and collected $25 from all the passengers that didn't have visas and stamped their passports.
So, I would think that the e-visas would work.

We have stayed in cabins 151 & 155 on the Surf.
Due to the curve of the bow, 155 only has one night stand at the side of the bed, which is no big deal because you still have access to both sides of the bed.
The cabin is great, never heard the elevator.
Enjoy

What is the concern with being assigned a h/c accessible cabin?
I read somewhere that the water from the shower goes all over the place.
-
We have been on the Wind Surf, Wind Star and Star Pride for 15, 18 and 24 days. Each time we purchased the laundry package. It is $109 per week per cabin. Each time we only took carry on luggage. We arrived with clean clothes and left the ship for home with clean clothes. This is the best service of any cruise line.

We have a GTY for an Oceanview on the Marina for January 5th. We booked and paid for this cruise at least 6 months ago. We have not been assigned a cabin. The O website shows every category as wait listed. This is our first O cruise. I realize we are guaranteed a cabin on the ship. My concern is that we might be put in an h/c accessible cabin. I would appreciate any comments from the O veterans.

I called Oceania and they confirmed there is a "glitch" in the system. They handled my requests over the phone.

From the Windstar Website
"Friday May 3rd at 3 PM EST until Tuesday May 7 at 9 AM EST: we will be upgrading our reservation systems, including MyWindstar, and will be temporarily unable to make new or adjust bookings."
Hopefully this means we will finally be able to see what cabins are available.
