fyi, it's making a few ports in brazil, and afterwards, leaving the country to continue on. so (1) if you now do not need a visa to enter brazil prior to 4/10/2014 (which we are) and (2) the other ports are within the country, a visa is most likely not needed.

there is also some discussion as to whether or not a yellow fever shot is required to enter cape verde, if you have been to brazil. to be safe, my wife and i will get this shot (certainly not something to which i am looking forward) Im not sure about all of them, but  i found out my local Walgreens has them

our yellow fever are go until 2017 are you on norwegian star april 10 to lisbon

I don't profess to be an expert, but my understanding of the requirement is that you won't need the visa to enter Brazil on April 8 and therefore there's no need for you to go through the process of obtaining one.

thanks for the info but wondering if we have many ports after the 10th in brazil don't we need a visa thank again.

If you google travel Cape Verde Canadian, you should get to the Canadian gov site.
It says you need a visa that is obtained on arrival - this may be done by SS? Perhaps check with SS before you do anything else.
I am UK and we need a different form but I have been to Cape Verde at least twice with SS and I don’t recall having to do anything myself.

    what is ss

Remember that those other websites are merely front-end processors for your visas.  If you are getting an electronic visa, your most effective and least expensive option is the immigration/customs ministry of the country itself.

Just research to find the country's website for electronic submissions.  And be VERY aware that there are many websites out there purporting or implying that they are "official" ways to get your visas.  Don't fall for that.

Further, I don't know why you are wanting a visa to both Brazil and Cape Verde, as both of them have a visa waiver in place for Canadian citizens.  (Note:  This is NOT legal or immigration advice, but merely my reading of the appropriate government websites.  Do you own due diligence to comply with all relevant laws)

went i check cape verde on visacentral they ask for an evisa. Brazil is maybe for january.

No one knows at this point. Generally, it shouldn't have a significant impact of travellers, although those taking a TA to Europe, such as yourself, might not want to book an early flight home on disembarkation day, just in case EES has been implemented and large delays occur as a result. If you plan to stay on in Europe for a bit and not fly home on disembarkation day, I'd say there was nothing to worry about.

my flight are not booked yet thanks.

Appreciate this very good follow-up question.  Both Carnival and Norwegian were sliding down negative this morning.   From the Wall Street Journal below you can see the trend this am for Norwegian.  Big difference??  Why??

My guess personally is that the stock experts compared last week's quarterly data/report from Norwegian versus the RCL info today and much prefer the positioning and future direction for the Silversea parent.

Right or wrong?  More details in my next post.

Royal Caribbean stock really SOARED higher and higher this morning.  See the Wall Street Journal below.

From the Wall Street Journal sister publication of Barrons this morning, they had this headline: Royal Caribbean Stock Surges. Consumers Are Still Spending on Cruises. with these highlights:Royal Caribbean Group shares soared as the cruise operator turned in a smaller loss and higher revenue than expected. Companies in the business are shrugging off concerns that an economic slowdown could hit consumer spending.  Royal Caribbean reported an adjusted loss of 23 cents a share, compared with a loss of $4.58 a share in the same period last year. Revenue rose to $2.89 billion from $1.06 billion.

I'm looking for nclh shares do you have any info on that also.

  8. Got my shares at the beginning of covid. We are doing our first cruise since applied to get my obc on a b2b carnival cruise. I was refused because my cruises are is a reduced rate promotion. But most of my cruises are reduced rates. Exem Tahiti with holland doing in 2023 is a casino rate, will not get my obc. Not sure if this is good for me.

As you state. Princess has a lot of Elite cruisers. Therefore I would imagine that loosing those many Elite would put a bit of a hole in there passenger roll call.

I have sent my email to those 4 suggested and will send one to the Princess contact us.

For those who may be interested in what I have sent, this is it.

Having been a loyal Princess passenger over the years, enough to get to the Elite level, and 4 future cruises already booked for 2021/22 with Princess, totalling 85 days. I will no longer book Princess over other cruises that have a similar itinerary.

Why would you even consider the statement, "We hope you enjoy these updates to your perks - because you deserve it." an enjoyment, and obviously your loyal passengers don't deserve much. What a ridiculously mean thing to do, to change the Internet to pay,(oh great 50% off) and OBC gone. Wow we still get free laundry and,

Exclusive, early access to Dine My Way reservations (ability to make them before final payment!)
    * 10% off shore excursions
    * 10% off Lotus Spa treatments
    * 10% off Photo Gallery offerings

Which many of us have no interest in.

During this very trying period with the pandemic, I have remained loyal and left my FCC with Princess when 3 or 4 of my cruises have been cancelled. Yes, I have certainly been repaid by Princess with great deals for hanging in there with the new cruises I have booked for 2022. But still find this, pay for internet, a mean thing to do.

you are completely right on all points

Like most of responses, the Platinum and Elite internet benefit was the most appreciated , in some way,  recognition to our loyalty along with preferred check-in (at nominated boarding schedule....not anytime as some think...or got away with),  and with Elite, priority ship to shore tender, laundry and possibly mini bar setup , but the others...who cares.....even the upgrade of stateroom amenities, had be reduced on our penultimate cruise(Aug19) and withdrawn(unavailable) on our last cruise Feb20.

Why not offer free wifi as a benefit............then it would be a real benefit..........compared to the cost Princess charge.

I get unlimited internet at home for less than $2 a day, for multiple devices and stream movies on each, at the same time,  so why use/pay more at sea...

I know I would never use much except for the odd look at email , account etc....so why take away a genuine benefit.....to repay/recognize loyalty......?????

The way Princess is going, Viking , being all inclusive , is looking very attractive, although we might have to cut down on cruise duration, to make it comparable in price......then so be it , but with twice or three times the quality/value.

Another Princess passenger looking to jump ship...........even as we hold Carnival shares.....which are pretty worthless these days.........and the future doesn't look that promising either.

i just saw the princess loyalty change so dissapointed this is one of the reason we take long cruise. We had 500min each only used to facetime the family.

We'll have to wait to see if todays negativity regarding the vaccine and the stock price continues throughout the week.

Looks like the slow roll out of the vaccines, the virus variant and the increase in infections and hospitalizations in some states in the USA and some countries in Europe have the bean counters (meant affectionately) influencing the analysists and the markets at the outset of 2021.  Also, the awareness that some crews have been notified of cancellation of return to work status for the time being.

These factors appear to 'push even the test resumption phase of cruising way beyond our expectations of January 2021 when first discussed months ago.  With this, along with Dr. Glooms comments over the weekend of a possible "national lockdown" (IMO, not Constitutional but a total lack of (common sense) regard for the 'science known as geography; i.e, entire low density states (and counties and towns) have little to no current resemblance to southern California and other current hard hit locations).

It would conceivably be more logical to restrict movements in and out of hot zones rather than attempt a coast to coast blanket approach.

This consideration of 'not making sense may also be the reason the cruise lines and investors are adding months to the expected return to cruising.

The trend continues to be that CCL looks too large (has and had an older fleet reliance and is getting 50 cents on the dollar of pre-virus FMV on such ships being sold off) and has too much of a monthly loss and cash burn rate and NCL looks too small to be able to ride out the virus storm (even at a proportionally lower month loss and burn rate).  It appears from some calculations that, at June 30, 2021, NCL will have only 90-days of liquidity from existing funds.  It also appears they really don't have much of anything left to leverage in debt.

RCL continues to be the 'pick of the litter from the cruise line stock perspective per the market.  Hard to tell if that lasts also.

    IMO ~

RCL is the most likely to survive with equity intact and secure either additional debt or renegotiated terms and conditions on existing debt (if the USA FED is involved again).

CCL is the next most likely to survive, but not intact (it may have to purge subsidiary lines in order to get the above RCL considerations).

NCL is the most likely to work out a creditor pre-packaged event to sustain restructuring the line financially (with loss of and to equity).

Can anyone who has recently used both lines for cruises advise me of the differences between the two lines.  We have been on NCL, Celebrity, and Princess - mostly Princess.   We have an upcoming cruise with Costa and just curious what to expect.   Anyone out there with experience on both Princess and Costa?   Would love your feedback.

We have been on both companies many times. Service is the same and the ship also what i find different is the food, Costa has alot of italien food which is excellent, also the guess are more international. The shows are differente. They have alot more parties themes. (this is for costa) you will like it i sure.
