  1. Thank you. I do recall the 30th anniversary mentioned that night. And we’ve cruised Regent several times previously and never saw a theme night. But I wondered if it was something new and done each cruise. But you’ve helped me to know just to pack my usual casual and evening wear. 👍🏼

The black, white and pearl thing I think was part of the 30 year’s anniversary celebrations.   I just happened to have all of the stuff, but I think some folks were clued in because they had been on prior cruises that year and expected it.

They really don’t do much in the way of themes.  However,  the Beatles and Abba parties have been around for awhile and once again, some folks have clothing that celebrates the era.

We have about 100 nights on Regent, and another cruise in April. We've never experienced a theme night. I would ask Regent.

Theme night's aren't our thing, and we would want to know how to avoid it rather than what we needed to bring to participate. Our suitcases are already full enough without having to bring something special to wear for a few hours.

  4. Last year on Regent, one night was a theme night. Dressy and wear black and white and pearls for women. There were black and white balloons and decorations, champagne passed around. I was unaware there was a theme night and did not have the requested items, but many people did. Not sure how they knew about it. But there were many like us without those items. How does one find out about theme nights? We sail on Monday and I’ve begun to think about what I should pack.

  5. We are long time cruisers going back to our days of family cruising with our kids. Now that it's just me and my husband, we've gravitated away from the big ships and have gone to Crystal, Regent, and Seabourn. We've seen a couple of itineraries on Silversea that look interesting. We are wondering what is the typical age on Silversea. We've loved Crystal but find it tends to be more 70s and 80s age group and pretty dead at night after the show. Regent and Seabourn seem to have a larger amount of 50s and 60s, which is our age group and it's easy to find people to connect with and share evening activities with. Any info would be appreciated.

  6. Ours wasn't a nightmare, but it was uncomfortable. My husband and I cruised frequently with our three teenage children. We'd always request a table for 5, which we usually received from any of the cruise lines we were on. One time we were assigned to a table set for 7. The other couple was an elderly grandmother/grandfather type. Now this might have worked, however, grandma and grandpa never talked other than nods to questions or a brief answer when we attempted to get them into a conversation. After a couple of nights, our conversation became stilted, because we always felt if we were discussing the day's experiences/excursions, we were leaving them out. However, they didn't seem to want to open up nor converse. Maybe they were socially awkward. The third night we abandoned our assigned seating and from then on went to the alternative restaurant where you could request a table nightly. At least our family dinner could go back to normal conversation.
