  1. Currently travelling back from NewYork on QM2 transatlantic round trip.

New menu format changes in Britannia and no longer hot chocolate on room service - you are just being given sachets of hot chocolate and told to make it yourself. What is bizzarre is that on the way to New York it was the same as usual - it has literally just changed today .

No doubt will discover more changes tomorrow. Will be interested to hear what others have to say.

  2. Well I'm totally blessed!!! Not sure I should be telling this. I didn't care much for where our room was situated (although content just to be onboard). Noticing that Cunard were offering 175 years Specials I called to see if I could get an upgrade to a balcony at the reduced fare. Well not only did I get the stateroom I wanted I got it for no extra charge!!!:) Not sure if I have ever heard of that before! Answer to my wife prayers!

Isn't that a lovely start to your trip! Congratulations :)

  3. We were on the same cruise and my partner was nearby when you fell ill.

After reading this thread we have decided not to take out cunard care insurance for our next cruise which is at Christmas on the Queen Victoria, though offered it through our US travel agent.

Insurers are quick to take your money but not so quick to settle claims.

  4. I know "gluten-free" is the new food style fashion craze, but I stopped eating gluten several months ago, not because I have Celiac disease, but because I found that it was so much easier on my digestion. It's wheat that I avoid mostly, and try to stay away from gluten in general. It also helps you not gain weight.

I didn't really notice before, but I wonder if QM2 has gluten-free option on the menu? Also, at tea time?

My partner is Coeliac and he finds Cunard great for they way they look after him. The waiter will provide you with the menus each night for the next day so you can choose whatever you want and they make it for you. They even do the fish & chips in the golden Lion for him - and gluten free afternoon tea in the Queens Room.

  5. We were on the Queen vic in July and were told that it is having a two week refit in January 2015 (similar to Queen Elizabeths ) and that they were cancelling cruises in that two week period in January. Methinks your cruise is one of those:eek:

  6. No recorded arrest on the paperwork you have access to might not mean there isn't any other paperwork with it recorded on. Who knows!!

If you can truthfully answer all the ESTA questions and so obtain the ESTA, then go for it.

If [as the visa test seems to indicate] there is an element of doubt, don't hang around, make that Embassy appointment.

I think now, the term is, 'the ball's in your court'.

Suggest you make a subject Access request under the Data Protection Act first as you appear to have time.

    http://www.acro.police.uk/Subject_Access_FAQs.aspx

Your personal details such as your name and date of birth, impending prosecutions, cautions, final warnings, reprimands, convictions, Penalty Notices and information relating to the issue of firearms certificates may appear on your disclosure. Arrest events that do not result in conviction will also appear. In other words, if you were arrested and the police took no further action, or you were found not guilty at court the details surrounding this may appear on your disclosure.

The operative word is "May". If it doesn't show up under the Subject Access Request then you will be ok for the ESTA.

  7. Introduction - Review with many pictures

It was 30 years ago today.....and I had just stepped off a Big Green Double Decker bus at the Pier Head in Liverpool, with my Grandparents. As virtually all Liverpudlians do, they immediately pointed out the Three Graces "That's the Liver Building, the Cunard building and Customs house." From that day on I was aware that Cunard line were the most famous and one of the oldest shipping lines in the world. I was filled with tales from my Grandpa, a Captain of merchant ships, of the Queen Mary, Elizabeth and the QE2. Here in front of me was where this great line was formed and once headquarterd. Liverpool of the early 80's was not Swinging as it had in the 60's and was far from the vibrant cultural centre it is today. However that is an irrelevance to this story and from that point on I was hooked, and one day dreamed of stepping on board a Cunard Queen.

So in June of this year I finally got the chance to Sail on one of their three Ocean liners, the Queen Victoria.......... Review continues with many pictures
